  • It took me a little while to convince myself to take this step and swap my sway bars for thicker ones. However, I didn't go all out with thick aftermarket bars since I still want to retain a certain level of comfort. So I swapped the original M Sport pack sway bars (front: 24mm, rear: 14mm) with thicker OEM versions. Front taken from the F10 M5 (26mm) and the rear from a 650 / F07GT (16mm).
    If you want you can go with some Eibach or H&R bars which usually come in 30mm/20mm.
    Part numbers of the parts installed in this video:
    - Front Sway Bar: 31-35-2-284-460
    - Rear Sway Bar: 33-55-6-791-932
    - Rear Sway Bar Bushings: 33-55-6-788-630
    - Rear Sway Bar Bracket Vibration Dampener: 33-50-6-852-836
    Tools to remove sway bars:
    - E18 for mounts front
    - 18mm hex + T40 for nut to end link
    - 16mm hex rear
    - 16mm hex + T30

      what considering those. you running coils or standard shocks?

    So the problem was that the front bushings were formed to the M5 brackets and would not sit flush with the 535i? And the bushings are not replaceable on these bars?

    Did you consider installing adjustable end links for the front sway bar? The stock links will pre-load the bar on both sides. Thank you for the video.

      did, but didn't do at the time. now that the car is lowered as well, I probably should.

      I'm on H&R springs and sways. My drop is about 1.5 in. Just installed SuperPros adj. links. Noticeable difference. @@BONDGarage

    so did you end up needing the m5 top cover plate or did you reuse the one from your car? I brought a used m5 sway bar and I was thinking if I ran into the same problem I would just buy new bushings

    • @BONDGarage
      @BONDGarage  Před 2 lety +1

      don't bother with it. I tried using the M5 top plates along with the used sway bar but wouldn't work since the M5 top plates would have to go between subframe and steering rack. With that option out the window I could only re-use the original top plates but needed a brand new M5 sway bar since the bushings are attached to the bar and can't be replaced separately. So in the end it worked but you need a new/unused M5 sway bar. All other parts stay the same. It's a shame that the M5 has a different top plate which prohibits a used bar to be installed on a non-M5.. Good luck to your install and let me know how it went

    why not use a m5 rear sway bar? i fitted one no problems

      it's been a while but my research showed there were supposed to be problems. or maybe it was the diameter and the 650 bar was closer to an equal increase as the M5 bar in the front. btw my M5 front bar tore both rubbers and is spinning freely.. like.. meh

    Does your car have adaptive drive or EDC? Mine does and it will not take the sway bar upgrade unless I give up the adaptive drive or EDC; which I'm not ready to let go. I had to send the sway bar set back to the manufacturer. Thanks.

      mine doesn't. unfortunately. I'd love the adaptive dampeners. if you already have active sway bars they should do a good job. I'm sure it can be coded out separately so you can keep the EDC and only replace the active bars with fixed ones.

    Can i ask your vin number? Cause actually my f10 is not m sports. But i want to get that stabilizer bar. 24mm and 14mm one. Not a m5 or 6series. Or if you know parts number of them can you tell me please?

    would a m6 rear sway bar fit a bmw f11?
    Any suggestion for the front sway bar upgrade? i know that M5 sway bar is a bit problematic.

    • @BONDGarage
      @BONDGarage  Před 2 lety

      good question. I'd say no but I'm not 100% sure. the M5 front works fine but unfortunately you need to get a new one. might as well go H&R or so considering the price. Would have done that if I knew that the used one wouldn't work.

      @@BONDGarage why a new m5 front sway bar and not a used one?
