Quinam Beach in South Trinidad

- As a child, my parent use to take us to a few beaches on our island of Trinidad and Tobago, well Trinidad and one of these beaches was in Deep South, a beach called Quinam.
Now this beach has evolved over the years and the waters are usually calm and the underwater currents can vary depending on the time of the year, after all it's the Columbus Channel (until they possibly rename it ones of these days), which is basically that body of sea between Trinidad and South America.
So join us on this adventure my Trinbago Vibes peeps as we explore the drive to get here and Quinam beach itself

Thanks for providing the history of my country, I live abroad but never visited these parts of the country. Trinidad has a lot of hidden gems. Stay safe.
You’re most welcome Jacqueline, I’m happy we’re able to show you different parts of the island
Real beauty looks like the type of beach where you can have a peace of mind
Indeed it is bro, can just relax, although it’s one of the few beaches here that doesn’t have any coconut trees
Quinam beach is typically very silty/muddy from what I remember. Last time i was there was in 1992. Made curry chicken and edoes but the edoes did not boil. Lol
Lol, fire wasn’t strong enough to boil them edoes, yeah but the waters were pretty good when I visited, and this was before the heavy rains, which I came back and completed filming after
Very good video ...saw a lot places that I was not aware of. very informative...keep up the good work ...stay safe.
Happy y’all enjoyed it and will do so long as I’m able
I love when u do that "what's up!" In the beginning, idk why just gets me hype
Lol, much appreciated bro 🙏🏽
Wow I live in the West soo that will be a great distance for me to go so obviously I have never been but tks for the history lesson it was quite interesting, stay blessed 🙏👍
You’re most welcome Belinda, that’s why you watch the channel, we’ll take you places and explore our country in the comforts of your home 😁
GM tk u 4d direction ND his🌲 keep up the good work ✅👍
Mawnin, morning, you’re most welcome and thanks
P.S. Superb editing skills as usual. The best from any local youtuber. Keep it up!💯💯💯
Much appreciated bro 🙏🏽
Never been to this spot. Interesting history of the beach. Nice footage Raj. Big up.
I’m glad I’m able to show you spots you’ve never been before, and thank you
Gm yes this is south so proud to live on this end, ENJOY your stay.
Mawnin, morning…south ftw
This video brings me back when we used to live penal almost every other week end we going to that beach
When it was in your back yard, you might as well, lol…I’m glad it was a nostalgic trip
Thanks for the tour, geography and history stories. I lived in Trinidad for eighteen years, and never heard of Quinam Beach. I know about Penal and Siparia, however.
You’re welcome and glad we was able to take you somewhere you never heard of before 😁
Thank you Rajeeve for this beautiful video. Have not been there awhile use to be alot long time ..
I’m happy you enjoyed it Donna
Interesting to see the beaches Trinidad has to offer, well done 👏
Thanks, and yeah this is more or less how beaches on the south coast is like, because of the flow from the Orinoco river in South America
Epic video, Rajeev. Like how you got that little bit of history in there and props for pulling up on the litterbugs. Definitely got to hit that like button. 💯💥👏
Thanks bro, I’ll advocate against littering wherever I go, hopefully we will keep our spaces clean in the future
I living about 10 minutes from the beach water Rought July/August the water is very very calm no wave nice place and video Trinbago vibes blessing to you guys
Nice, and thanks for the July/August info…I went before the rains in December and the water was surprisingly good (low tide in the video)…the second time it was rough seas
Hello Rajeev, this one is new to me. Thanks for showing us another new spot in Trinidad. As usual, I enjoyed this one!
Hey Maria, and glad you enjoyed it
For real your like best dude to be talking about Trinidad I can tell you really love your country. I love the good vibes , interesting stories , historical backgrounds of the places you visit, and even informative warnings for your viewers. I appreciate all the videos bro, I’ve recently have taken a keen interest in Trinidad so to say the least your channel has been extremely helpful. Coming from a Cuban that was born in the US I have a lot of love for the Caribbean , but I’ve never actually been there. I’ve felt I’ve been homesick my whole life. Just the people, the culture and the energy I feel very connected with. Keep the videos coming stay blessed.
Wow 🙏🏽 much appreciated and thanks, hope you have a blessed one as well
@@TrinbagoVibes 🙏
First, first !! Oops 04 . Sorry kitty . This North Cost guy , thank you for the trip .Always nice seeing different parts of the country . We have much to be thankful for....ok l go get off my soap box now . Ps the cameo by the kitty 😂😂🤣. Thanks for the video Rajeev.
Glad you enjoyed it Sylvan and yes the kitty made an appearance, lol
Been to that beach once in my life when I was a young man..thanks for bringing back memories
You’re most welcome my brother
Love ur vibes man. Now found ur vids, liking ur style. Cheers
Much appreciated 🙏🏽 cheers
Thank you for sharing I haven’t been to that beach in almost 30 years I see it’s developed that nice
You’re welcome and yeah it has developed over the years
Nice video its over 3 decades for me keep up the good work
Thanks Tony
Interesting video presentation; like the history lesson.
Much appreciated 🙏🏽
I visited this beach over 30 years ago, it was nice seeing it again, and also seeing the familiar roads on the drive there. Beautiful video.
Over 30 years ago, hopefully some things has changed since then and I’m happy you enjoyed it
@@TrinbagoVibes Yeah it's been a while, no plans to visit Trinidad anytime soon but maybe someday it would be nice to visit again.
@@emilylove3045 nice, well hopefully the channel provides you with a wide range of stuff to do whenever next you touch down 😁
Happy New Year, Vibes. I myself haven't been to Quinam for over 20 years. It's changed a lot from the days of plenty of vultures on the shore . I'm glad to see new facilities for the public.
Your opening showed a young cat, really sad that people abandon such animals as the quick solution.
Indeed, I was surprised by the cats in the area as well and it’s most unfortunate…Happy New years to you and yours as well Ricky
Hey Rajeev, nice to bad ...
thank u for the directions
Hey Gideon, glad you enjoyed it
Thanks for sharing a interesting beach in Trinidad. Trinidad has a lot of hidden treasures I never heard of like the clip from you.
You’re welcome and I’m glad we’re able to show you some other parts of Trinidad
Thanks for showing this hidden gem of the south beaches.
You’re most welcome 🙏🏽
WAOW. I too, have not been there in more than 15 yrs ago (and its supposedly the closest beach to me). Heard of the upgrades, looks great! And thanks for the history, I didnt even know that! Will have to visit soon!
Yup, think the bathrooms are open only on weekends
Love your videos… we are living in Canada now… so we love to see the homeland… especially the south area videos…
Much appreciated Rose 🙏🏽 and I’ve more places in south to showcase later this year
I enjoyed this video..great job.✌
Thank you 🙏🏽
Good work as always bro.. and happy new year
Much appreciated bro and all the best to you and yours this year as well
Your videos are so informative & refreshing to watch bro. I love all your drone footage. I never knew about this place.. very nice. The roads though 🥴🥴🥴🥴
Much appreciated my sistrin 🙏🏽 and yeah about them roads, normal thing but according to the lifeguard it will get worst when forestry start harvesting the teak
Nice footage Rajeev! That cat is living a best life, prime real estate :)
True that! And thank you Lily
Looks can be deceiving, that cat was either abandoned or born from an abandoned cat. It will be looking for scraps of food visitors leave. Sadly same problem exists at the Caroni bird sanctuary. We have enough vets to avoid abandoning animals.
That's one beach I never went to.
I'm in Arouca, we usually got to maracas beach.
However my parents long ago went there in their childhood.
They said it's not a good beach anymore
That was the case a decade ago but it ain’t as bad once it’s low tide and there isn’t any rough seas, but you’ll see places all over Trinidad and Tobago on the channel at some point 😁
Thanks for showin us
You’re most welcome and thank you for the support
Very good to see this part of Trinidad.
Happy you enjoyed it
I love this
Thank you 🙏🏽 I’m happy you enjoyed it
Quinam, is not the best beach but not the worst, perfect for a last minute beach trip (I live in Penal so its kinda obvious).
Climbed up the "cliffs" on the sides once, surprisingly nobody pre-emptively called the ambulance.
Well yeah cuz that will be practically your back yard, lol…I can only imagine the view from up there, I mean the drone captured a lil something but it’ll never be the same
Awesome video
Thank you 🙏🏽
Since i was small way back on radio trin idad 7:30 radio this lady on radio trinidad name babera assoon always said b4 u flyout see trinidad and tobago
Seems legit
I was last in 2015 .... Memories
Nice
Been here once. Continue advocating to keep our beaches clean.
Ofc, hopefully one day I’ll reach a beach clean up and not have much work to do, lol
Well done
Thank you 🙏🏽
Yea we really need Map animations for these videos. Even though you gave these directions, I know I will never find that beach :(
Lol, just use google bro, except for the path where I told you don’t take, and you’re good to go
Nice video
Thank you
Loved that beach long ago. But the road is really horrible and water dirty most times now.
Yeah and the roads may get worst as they will be harvesting the teak later this year so the trucks will mash up the roads even further unfortunately
I cant remember if ive been there my self
Very Muddy Waters...but a great sight !!
Yup, well more of a muddy appearance, because when you go in the water, it’s just basically loose sand and not so much mud
I would like to have seen the old Queen Anne road 🛣️
It required a 4x4 to traverse that one
nice
Much appreciated bro
🇨🇦🇹🇹👍👍
🙏🏽🙏🏽🇹🇹🇨🇦
Thanks for sharing all the info, I have been going to Quinam beach for about 7 yrs now, everything you share is so true but you didn't share the oil pump, was it working, now I want to go 😊
You’re most welcome, I think they were working when I passed, not too sure 🙈
@@TrinbagoVibes the ministry did coastal works sometimes before COVID,wish they would of repairs the road then but it didn't happen, from time to time people explore the north side of the beach, where there is the rock stretching out to the waters, technically the beach which is continue after have rocks in the water, but it's much nicer there
@@sheriffabasdeo969 thanks for the Info, now I’m curious to explore beyond those rocks, lol, next time
@@TrinbagoVibes do it when high tide is dropping, it's a great experience
@@sheriffabasdeo969 will do, well will have to really plan that one
What DRONE you using bruh ? My next visit I go down … thanks 😊
Nice, I’m using the DJI mini bro, hoping to upgrade to the mini 3 later this year or next year, although my mini is going strong even though I crashed it twice, lol
Place lonely dirty. Went one time and when I saw I didn't even come out the car
Yeah, but it’s still nice to walk in the water, and it’s not as dirty but I understand the lonely dirty
Yuh kno how long l eh gone Quinam bai
Me too Jed, well before this video
Ah yes Quinam, drunk indian paradise
Lol, although with those roads, one person hadda be sober
Hi- I'm arriving early March just around 1 AM at the Trinidad airport. I was wondering if you could give me advice since it's been 20 years since I've lived in Trindad as a student at St. Augustine University in 2001. Maybe you could even help me with an arranged taxi/ ride????? Thank you, sir.
Greetings, there is a taxi service at the airport as soon as you exit the departure (not sure of their prices, as it varies depending on your destination) as I’m not sure the regular public transport will be there…where are you staying?
@@TrinbagoVibes I was planning on camping along the north coast for 4 days. When I first arrive I was hoping a taxi driver would know of a hotel to take me to. I heard there is an ATM in the airport but don't know if that's safe...thank you, sir. I liked your video of Quinam Beach.
@@jeffreyrweege8251 nice and yeah there are a few atm and they are relatively safe, and if it’s US you’re exchanging, I recommend you get at least a $7TT to $1 US rate…you can book a night at the Hyatt or Radisson in Port of Spain and take the Bus at City Gate (10 mins walk from either hotel) to Blanchisseuse, that way you can stop off along any part of the north coast
@@TrinbagoVibes Thank you! Great.
trini
Boom!!!
Beaches in south way more calmer than the north
That they are, but the underwater currents cannot be underestimated
Good video as always, very informative, but I don't like South beaches... Can't stand that mauby water.
Thanks and that’s understandable, sometimes it’s just good for a lime
Hey Rajiv can you fix the roads and the road signs and proper directions 🤣
If I could I would
Alot of dri king and having a good time but its not that is bc of d covid 19 was the problem.
Lol
Trinidad is a beautiful country only if politicians have a vision to truly invest in tourism. Very appalling how the country is left to fall apart.
That we are and we may be on that road but not fully there yet, hopefully we will be able to turn things around
Save this pic for later nxt stop 2 icacos west end trinidad after d last point of trinidad full vd long drive 2 icacos by cave man
Nice
You are very eloquent and well spoken keep up the good work that you are doing historical,I lived in south San Fernando that is and never Vist that beach, you did a good job of highlighting it .
Big up Sando 🙌🏽 and thank you Vashti
@@TrinbagoVibes You are most welcome ,be safe .
@@vashtipersad2738 thanks and same to you
That place lonely and dangerous and water dirty
Well it’s a combination of overflow from the Siparia river and the Orinoco….but yeah the loose sediments with the absent of reefs would give it it’s “dirty” appearance
@@TrinbagoVibes In the old days, they used to say that some of the coastline did not have clean beaches, due to the rivers. This must have been one of those beaches they were referring to.
@@shqa574 yup, based on the currents this one gets the sediments from the Siparia river and the South American Orinoco
Recently I argued the water is often dirty looking one lady doubt me to the end
@@rosonaramsaroop6339 ohh next time you can pull up this video and show her, but I can understand her POV, after all one can argue that the soil type on the south coast gives it that “brown” appearance, but if you’re in the water and pick it up by hand it’s apparently clear
i remember when i was a little boy going there i hope it's not too unsafe now, i would love to go back
It’s relatively safe and there are lifeguards down there, it’s just certain parts of the road not to righteous, but hopefully you revisit one of these days
