  • In this video we take a rather dark and under-exposed image and turn it into something quite interesting, using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. I also include a sky replacement to remove the plain blue sky. We use a number of the new Adobe AI tools such as Generative Fill and Denoise to help process the image.

    Yes, Jamie, I like and I gave you a "like" The only thing I am surprised about is that your subscriptions are not going through the roof yet. Keep hanging in there, you are a winner.

    Exceptional image. Very interesting to see you do a night-to-day conversion rather than your usual day-to-night. I would have never thought about doing this. It's always nice seeing inspiring images that make me want to get out and shoot more. Thanks for sharing.

    I watch all of your tutorials, love your style! This was another great one, one thing I would add is the lights you added in the windows would have blended into the scene better if they had been made orange like the other natural interior lights. Also the sky replacement may have benefited from more sharpness/clarity and possibly some grain. Great job though, thanks for walking us through it.

    I want to tell you, that you are a phenomenal artist. Your night conversions have a touch that is so realistic that it looks natural. Reminds me of Thomas Kinkaid. Ok, different style, but he knows where the lights should go. You have that ability. I have always used photoshop, but it cannot do the windows like you can. I get mesmerirized by your youtube productions. Good Job!

      Thank you George, you know you can switch to Camera Raw inside Photoshop, then you have the same capabilities as Lightroom using the masking functions. personally I like the feel of lightroom so tend to swap back and forth between Photoshop and Lightroom 😀

    Why do you shoot at f6.3 with a wide angle instead of using the hyper focal distance? F4 would have been quite enough and would have given you 2 stops more, or 1/120 sec!

    • @foisonurlubu4303
      @foisonurlubu4303 Před 10 měsíci +1

      or ISO 400

    • @jamiermathlin
      @jamiermathlin  Před 9 měsíci

      Both good questions, the answer is that the lens is an F4 and although it is sharp at F4, it is much sharper between F6.3 and F10, so I try find the balance between speed and aperture, hence the settings. :-)

    • @foisonurlubu4303
      @foisonurlubu4303 Před 9 měsíci

      in this kind of picture (athmosphere) you don't need crisp sharp images, no one will notice the difference but try to avoid shooting many things you'll have to cut out later. Be sharper with your choices of shooting ! @@jamiermathlin

  • @foisonurlubu4303
    @foisonurlubu4303 Před 10 měsíci +2

    You are a very nice gentleman very serious with your videos but looking closely to them, it is mostly about cutting out many many things that should not be in the picture (!) which means, your videos have nothing or so little in common with quality photo graphy (so many errors!). They could be of interest if you could come with videos using different techniques or better maybe, short videos (5-10 minutes) with only generative fill, or the lasso tool, or adding/removing light, remove tool, creating shadows... Thank anyway for your efforts !

      Thank you for your comment, to answer, it is just my style. We all have different likes and dislikes and we all see the world in different ways, personally I like to change my photographs into images that reflect my way of seeing the world. When I take the photograph, I am already thinking how I could process it :-). If you prefer to process less and not use the tools available in these wonderful pieces of software, then that is your style and I respect you for that ! As I always say, be yourself !

  • @user-mw9kw6rk4e
    @user-mw9kw6rk4e Před 10 měsíci +1

    I love all that you present! But I am not sure why you work with one image? You shoot still life mostly, so bracket and merge without HDR processing on in LR and then you can manually push anything anywhere and not have noise issues. You just have a merged file with incredible DR so you can push it in all directions. Does this not work for you? Just curious! Love the end product as always.

    • @jamiermathlin
      @jamiermathlin  Před 10 měsíci +2

      Hi Russ, yes HDR works very well, I do have some videos covering this, as you say you can create a huge dynamic range, but what I am trying to show people is that even with single-shot images and higher ISO, you are able to still produce great images using the modern tools available to us 😀
