    I bought a bag of Hawaiian style peanuts at the flea market outside Aloha stadium on Hawaii in 1990. I've been pining for them ever since.

    I love your recipes because it’s food us locals eat. I’ve been buying my boil peanuts. Now I want to try and make it myself. Mahalo for keeping our small kid time traditions alive.

    Good basic recipe! I also cook them in an instant pot or pressure cooker, but only for 15 minutes, depending on how crunchy (al dente) you like them, followed by a natural pressure release and cool down period for about 1 hour. As the pressure slowly drops by itself, it continues to cook, then cools down to allow the peanuts to naturally sink and absorb the tasty seasoned water into the shells.

      We like crunchy & juicy boiled peanuts. Do you soak them first? How long?

    I'm on round 3 of cooking them with my instant pot. I like them soft, and they still have a crunchy texture. So far 6 hours of Instapot use with the cool down TODAY. 😞

    • @KeepingItRelle
      @KeepingItRelle  Před 2 lety +1

      Be sure the peanuts are fully submerged under water. If you like them really soft you can soak them overnight prior to cooking to cut down on the cook time.

    Question... like southern boiled peanuts (mainland USA)... do you store these in the cooking liquid of your not going to finish them right away??

      That's the great thing about this recipe, it's just the base, You can totally add other spices to make it how you like.

    The REAL difference when it comes to boiled peanuts. Green will cook faster,but will not absorb seasoning as well, as they still contain moisture. Raw peanuts will take longer to cook, but will absorb more of the seasoning, because they have been dehydrated and readily some up more moisture.
