    Been using this to keep a neon LED strip on the front of the car from burning out prematurely (again). It's tucked away just behind the bumper and works great without any issues.

    Easy and useful to connect 12v led to car battery for constant 12v as battery on running gives out 14v

    This will not work if the car isn't running as the voltage dropout is 2 volts. So if your battery has 12,5 volt, the output will be 10,5V. If the car is running you will get 12V constant from the 14 - 14.4V the alternator is producing. So no good for a dome light for instance.

      Because the input voltage is close to the output voltage, minimum heat is generated so it's not needed. Now if you were dropping it to say, 5V, you would want a heat sink.
