    Let's face it, Roy was simply the best. Been listening since '73.

    Some of the greatest finger picking guitarists regard Roy as the finest of all. Absolute genius. Iam (as always) in awe of this man's skill 🧙🏻‍♂️🌻❤️

    Funny how I thought even CZcams couldn’t spring on us a clip of him playing this. How could you ever tire of watching it. Hypnotic finger picking, poetic as they get and the chorus is achingly sublime before the main figure comes back in magically to say the least. He does seem to be enjoying it a bit too much. Very suspicious.

    First time I remember ever listening to Roy Harper. I think life does last a while, I'll space out the goodness. Every now and then something that brings delight is just right. Just right.

    Play this and Hallucinating Light at my funeral and I'll be a happy corpse. It just doesn't get any better

    • @timbeesley8155
      @timbeesley8155 Před 3 lety +1

      Likewise, play it at my funeral as I'm off to a better place. This and several several other tracks (inc Hallucinating Light) have been the sound track to my life since being introduced to RH in the early 70's. The playing is superb, but the words of this track bring me such solace. Another Day never fails to make me well up. Poetic genius at work.

    Roy's fingerpicking has rarely been matched. When you consider he also had one hell of a voice and his lyrics were pure poetry, you have inarguably the most egregiously ignored artist from the 70s, at least in the USA...

    • @nickhirst999
      @nickhirst999 Před 3 lety +3

      Yeah, I've seen Roy playing and singing live at least 20 times. First time back in 1986, I think. The Gardner Centre at Sussex University. Interesting how he fingerpicks so close to the bridge

    • @garrywindshield1
      @garrywindshield1 Před 3 lety +1

      Honestly, I've been practicing this song for more than 4 years and still can't seem to nail it properly. The bit itself is quite easy when you play it apart from singing. But to entwine it all together keeping up with all the little subtleties is just painful. The hardest song that I play and practice.

      @@nigelthompson5279 I could write a mass about that gig but the most memorable thing was that it was the only time I saw him play the under-rated "Burn The World". I had to dig the live version out and am listening to it now!

  • @mikethenumber1
    @mikethenumber1 Před 8 lety +23

    how in the world is he able to play like that, sing at the same time and remember all the lyrics while being so high that he can hardly open his eyes?

    • @massesesclaves644
      @massesesclaves644 Před 8 lety +3

      +mikethenumber1 I don't think he's high. He might be, but for playing intricate guitar and sing at the same time, one can look intoxicated where it's in fact pure concentration.

    • @jeffbgough
      @jeffbgough Před 8 lety +10

      I can assure you that he spent most of the '70s stoned, but never affected the quality of his playing - just the lengths of the rambling monologues between songs! Brilliant musician - saw him on many occasions. True to say he was largely ignored at the time...

      @andysingletonefc Před 6 lety

      Nah. He’s deffo mashed 😁 The tell-tale red-ringed eyes and the slow turn to camera with narcotic grin.....I think he asked for a spliff at a gig I was at....and was duly obliged.
