    Just got the same deal directly from Gobi, it also included two cross bars for mounting kayak wings in the package. Total price for all rack, sun roof panel, rear ladder and two cross bars was 1,595.00 and a manufacturing time of approx 12 weeks. I may get the quick connect. The sale is on through mid September 2019. Thank you for taking the time to do this awesome informative video even though you were cold😊

    You did a great job with this review! I had been on the fence about purchasing the Gobi Stealth rack, and this video has answered most of my concerns. Thank-you very much……your effort is appreciated!

      Thank you for the kind words. As I said, it was expensive, but it is by far the best thing that I have put on my Jeep to date.

    Excellent review thank you! I think this is the rack I'm going to go with for my kayaks. It is expensive but it does everything I need and looks great to boot. Love the ladder option. I am 5'2 so I will definitely be needing that.

    Great video man , can you do a video on the back up lights? and talk about the installation?

    Can I ask what you paid for the model? This was a great video! Exactly what I was looking for!

    Great video! How tall is the highest point of the rack from the top of the Jeep, how much height does it add?

    Thanks for sharing, another great video! On my previous JKU I had the Off Camber Fabrication rack, I installed back up lights as well and ran them through the driver's tail lights. My mistake was I didn't think about installing a quick disconnect! Are you planning to install roof tent? I've got a 2017 JKU now and looking into this product.

    How long dies it take to tilt the rack back? Are tools required for this or does it use hand cranks?

    how did the rack affect your fuel milage?

  • @Chachabra

    okay so just for clarification. So you didn't have to mount or do anything with the rear bumper? or did you?

    Nice review. Are you still enjoying your rack? I"m looking at the Gobi vs. the Front Runner rack. Do you know the differences? Thanks!

    Thank you for the very helpful video review. Being a landscape photographer, I thought this wrack might be very useful. Also, I am guessing with a little padding etc... you would have no issue loading a kayak?

    • @Wildernessways
      @Wildernessways  Před 9 lety +1

      LeicaBob None whatsoever. I have had over 300 pounds on it driving home and the rack took it with flying colors.

    Can you put a light bar on the roof rack ?

  • @Dirtkid98505

    How much space is between the rack and the roof? I was looking at a few different tops that add additional head space inside the cabin so I was wondering if the two would fit together?

    800lbs static and only 300lbs while moving? Why would you ever use 800lbs on the roof while it just sits there and not move with it?

    • @dkxkvtr
      @dkxkvtr Před 4 lety

      800 pounds includes YOU while loading. I don't know if there is a roof tenting option with this model but the extra 500 pounds would come in handy for sleeping two individuals.

    Just discovered your video channel. Kudos. I recently bought a '12 Jeep Unlimited Altitude Edition that came with the Gobi Stealth rack. I have not been able to remove the roof panels. There doesn't seem to be enough clearance at the rear section of the panel to slide it out. Do you have any suggestions? Keep your videos coming. Thanks.

    • @Wildernessways
      @Wildernessways  Před 9 lety +1

      When I have the removable panel off of the rack they come out no problem, but with that insert in place, it is almost impossible. So unless I need the extra space, I usually leave that front rack panel out. Hope this helps.

  • @OffRoadOverlandCamping

    Great information, I'm thinking about getting a rack, not sure which one yet. When storing your equipment on the rack, how where do you place it? In the back, middle or front? Or is there a rule you want to follow?
    Also, are there other ad ons you can purchase for the rack, such as, carrying a shovel, extra water, etc?

    • @Wildernessways
      @Wildernessways  Před 8 lety

      +Ron Channels Best idea is to go to the website that I mention in the video, there are lots of add ons that you can use to customize. When I carry, I usually carry in back, unless I have my roof top tent in place. Then I use the insert so I can store up front.

      +Wildernessways hey guys great video. i am buying the stealth for my 2door jk ftom a buddy but the mounting brackets are bent in back. i contacted gobi about buying new brackets but they tell me they do not sell separately. is there any other place i can go to?

    • @Wildernessways
      @Wildernessways  Před 8 lety

      You might want to find a fabrication shop or a welder that could straighten or remake a set of the brackets. Anyone with a CNC plasma cutter should be able to take care of you.

    @dbussey9798 Před 9 lety

    I just installed the Gobi Stealth on my 2014 JKU. The rack has ladders on both sides. I, too, have tail light guards. I'm fearful that the bottom of the ladders will hit the tail light guards when I lift and tilt the rack back. Does your ladder clear the tail light guard when you tilt it back? Mind you, I've not yet tried tilting the rack back yet, but plan on doing so this weekend.

    • @Wildernessways
      @Wildernessways  Před 9 lety

      +D Bussey I don't tilt the rack right now, but I had that concern too, I suspect I may need to trim the tail light guards once I start tipping the rack.

  • @99Herrie
    @99Herrie Před 7 lety

    Hi, do you know or have an estimation what the complete roof rack weighs?

  • @wsigona
    @wsigona Před 9 lety

    How tall is your Jeep is with the rack installed? I have a stock Rubi no lift and was wondering if it would still fit in the garage with the Gobi Stealth. I may add a 2 inch lift later. .

    • @Wildernessways
      @Wildernessways  Před 9 lety +1

      +Walter Sigona I am about 6 foot 4 inches, but keep in mind I also have 33 inch Mickey Thompson AT tires and a 2.5 inch Teraflex lift on the Jeep. The rack itself is about 6 inches above the roof line of the Jeep.

    @ryanwooley1598 Před 8 lety

    I really wanna know if you can take off the 2 sun panels and the hard top off of the jeep while the roof rack is mounted on? By sun panels I mean the two panels above the driver and passenger seat aka the sun roof

    • @Wildernessways
      @Wildernessways  Před 8 lety

      You can take the sun panels off with the rack in place, but you need to rotate the rack back to remove the hard top.

    Did you install the roof rack yourself or would you recommend hiring a shop?

    • @Wildernessways
      @Wildernessways  Před 7 lety +1

      I installed it myself. If I remember correctly it was pretty straight forward and took about 2 hours. As long as you can turn a wrench and have some help manhandling the rack in place, you should be able to do it yourself.

      If it only interferes with satellite radio I'm ok because I don't plan on renewing mine but does it interfere with regular am/fm stations?

    I am currently shopping for this same roof rack.... when I called Gobi shipping is always free or included in the price $1595 as well a one ladder and the wind deflector is standard. So it appears you got a sun rack for free and not all the other items as you suggested?!?!? Otherwise your video was very helpful

    • @Wildernessways
      @Wildernessways  Před 9 lety

      When I bought it, they indicated that the ladder and wind deflector and one extra accessory free as well as free shipping were a special deal. It may be a "permanent" special, but at the time it didn't appear that way since there was an expiration date for the deal. I also didn't go through Gobi, I went through TrailDuty.

      Thank you for your suggestion of Trailduty... Phil was very pleasant and gave me a great bundle price on the items I was purchasing. It pays to shop around and get quotes.. Trailduty hands down has me as a future client on all my outdoor needs

      +The_Bombdigiti I run a roof top tent on it all of the time. that was one of the big reasons that I bought it.
