Wonderful performance! As far as I'm concerned, Doane is among the most talented American cellists of all time. Having studied with him when he was just beginning his career, and just beginning to formulate his ideas about string pedagogy, I can attest to his incredibly quick musical mind, as well as his willingness to continually explore both the history and the future potential of his chosen instrument.
His vibrato is amazing

Yes, the Piano Part is tricky.
I liked the performance very much, it is just to my taste and how I want this work to be played.Performed it myself over 100 times and recorded it for Hungarian radio in 1996. I know that the piano part can be tricky. ;-)

He was finalist in the Tschaikowsky competition 1974 and is a really great Cellist.
My former teacher won this competition in 1974 but he is dead now, a great loss.
