Thank you for what you do! I'm a senior woman and am so ashamed that I got scammed out of around $400 a couple months ago by a person on Twitter who saw that I had asked for help to get my vehicle fixed. I thought I was smarter than that but I was so desperate that it clouded my judgement. My husband and I are both in bad health and need transportation for doctor visits and groceries, etc. I feel so stupid, but at first it seemed like a miracle was being offered, he was very persistent and convincing. Folks, beware of these people. They feed on peoples desperation and hopelessness. If I didn't have my hubbie to look after I would just jump off a bridge. Keep up the good work.

Not only do they take advantage of vulnerable and elderly people, but they also take advantage of their own people. They call and speak Punjabi/Hindi.. tell the people they’ve failed to pay taxes and owe the money, and if they don’t pay it they’ll be put in jail or worse.. and a lot of foreigners aren’t very good with technology and don’t know to file taxes or how to check if these people are telling the truth or lying, so they fall for it, end up paying the money and in reality it was all made up. These scums will literally do anything to get these gift cards, and they don’t care who they’re talking to and taking advantage of. Trust me when I say… we do not consider them a part of our communities, and find them absolutely disgusting.. nothing but a waste of oxygen
I know we go to shame when this kind of thing happens, I know from personal experience . But the shame is theirs not yours they are just too immoral to feel it. They take advantage of someone's trust, that isn't our weakness that's their cruelty.

The codes can be found on receipts, most give a backup in case people scratch too hard. He was getting pissed over nothing. Telling a lil old lady to die over nothing.

This chills me to my soul as my 90 year old mom gets constant calls about an extended warranty for her paid off Honda Civic she paid cash for. We try and explain it’s a scam and that she can screen her calls on her landline. She gets mad and hangs up on them because they don’t understand she paid cash for her car so her children wouldn’t be saddled with a car payment when she dies. Thankfully she does nothing on line but this gives me pause...

One of the mental strategies that a lot of scammers use is dehumanization. It's easier to steal from people when they view them as internet sources of money rather than viewing them as actual people

Yeah there's a bunch of times where the scammers say some really awful things. They don't view their victims as people, just walking ATMs. I remember a scammer saying something along the lines of "your a westerner, you all have so much money it wouldn't even matter if someone took it".

I'm getting ads about the scams on CZcams. There was one with a business woman and it reminded me of the time he talked to a scammer and tried to convince to help with surveys.
I really wish that when Trump was on his way out he just made a press conference saying that if someone calls you with an Indian accent asking you to pay with gift cards to restore your social security or whatever it's a scam. He wasn't good for much but old people would listen to him, and sure everyone would call him racist for saying it's mostly the Indian accents but everyone called him racist anyway

The problem in India is the government allowing this to happen. After all there is a decent amount of money being taken and put into these countries. It benefits them. He did once before actually have the scammers fail to enter their amount they wanted to, he kept removing the extra zero, eventually it said $000 instead of $5000, they literally just carried on with the scam going “oh Maii god ma’am!!!” And didn’t listen to him, every time he said “it says $0” they kept saying “no ma’am it says 5000 dollars” so as fun an idea that might be, they just won’t listen. It’s infuriating how stupid these scammers are tbh

I had been binge watching your videos so much that when an actual officer called me from a town an hour and a half away and said he had my mom and she didn’t know how to get home (she’s 90), I was suspicious enough to ask his name twice and actually spoke with my mom on his phone...once he came back on the line I explained I’d been watching your videos on scammers. We shared a good laugh and he was a total doll. Luckily, my mom doesn’t bank online or even have a cellphone. Or even a driver’s license anymore after this. Thank you for what you do to keep our elderly safe as they are so vulnerable!
