    Your thorough explanations make it possible for anyone that’s motivated to dive in and try to fix their own stuff. I will say that my old ariens 824 has never had a fuel problem thanks to the worn out bowl drain gasket . I should change it but i emjoy the challenge of figuring out how much gas needed for 20-25 mins. My goal is to get it back in the garage right at the precise moment the carb runs dry! 😆
    I also added your green handled clip tool to my wish list

      Check into using Aspen 4 fuel instead of using pump gas and stabilizer to stop having the carburetor issues from gas going bad from sitting. Here is a link to read up on it and see if you can purchase it where you live. www.aspenfuels.com/products/alla/aspen-4/

      10mm for both, carburetor and mounting hardware. I normally show all tools needed. Not sure why I did not on this video.

    This was a great video. Easy to follow. However, I put it back together after cleaning but now it surges when idling. It’s like rpms go up and down. No matter what I do, I’ve turned off the choke, lowered the idling speed, moved it back up with no change. At least the good news is, it starts and runs now. Its brand new, used it once last year and haven’t been able to get it started until now. it starts right up and runs, but sounds like crap. The only thing different in your vid was the three tiny holes inside the carb - I couldn’t find any of those…,does every model of Troy-bilt have those inside their carburetors?

    Thanks for the video, I inherited a three year old blower which had only been used once and had never had the original fuel changed or drained, so you know it wouldn’t start. I followed your video, put fresh fuel in and it started right up. But now after starting it up I can only back the choke off one or two clicks or it runs really rough. If I move it all the way to run it dies. Any idea what might be causing that? Thanks again.

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines
      @JohnsonsSmallEngines Před rokem

      The carburetor will need to come off and be rebuilt or replaced depending on how bad it is inside. There should be all links in the description to remove and rebuild it.

    I have a Craftsman 21" model 2478. It seems to be the same basic snow blower as the one in your video ... just rebranded as Craftsman not Troybilt. I followed your instructions to clean the carb. Your advise and instructions were perfect. All seemed well until I released the clamp on the gas line. Fuel is leaking at the carb bowl. Upon inspection it appears I crimped the gasket. Cab you provide me with a part number to replace the bowl gasket

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines
      @JohnsonsSmallEngines Před 7 měsíci

      You will need to take the model number off of the sticker on the machine. Then go to the web site "Sears Parts Direct" to find the correct part for your engine. Here is the link. www.searspartsdirect.com/

    • @tombrocke8039
      @tombrocke8039 Před 7 měsíci

      Thanks for you quick attention! Yeah, been there done that. They offer no carb repair parts for model 747.881733. And Jacks Small Engines wants me to buy a full rebuild kit. The carb is basically new, doesn't need a rebuild.

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines
      @JohnsonsSmallEngines Před 7 měsíci

      Then I would suggest you heading to your local small engine repair shop in your area and ask them for a junk carburetor. I’m sure they have many that they may even give to you if they’re nice people. I would definitely take your model number of your machine because they’re going to question what engine you have on there and you may even need to take the engine model and serial number off of the engine that is stamped on the right hand side if you’re standing behind the machine on the bottom of the engine.

      Yes, clean the gas tank. I normally will use a turkey baster or something to suck the fuel from the tank, then put fresh gas in and repeat if necessary. Then once the fuel looks good in the tank. Flush the fuel line with the good gas from tank.
