Bhumi Pednekar, Rajkummar Rao and Sheeba Chaddha won critics’ choice awards for Badhaai Do and the social comedy-drama was also declared the Best Film (critics’ choice).
While Kartik Aaryan did not win an award for his highly successful film Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, directed by Anees Bazmee, Tabu took home the Best Actress award (critics’ choice). What turned out to be a pleasant surprise is Sanjay Mishra winning the Best Actor (critics’ choice) award for his critically acclaimed film Vadh also starring Neena Gupta.
Brahmastra was a massive success at the box office, however, it did not take home any major trophies. However, it did win the best music album award, where as Amitabh Bhattacharya won the best lyrics awards for the film’s popular song “Kesariya” and Arijit Singh won the best playback singer (male) for the same song.
The awards recognised talent from Amitabh Bachchan’s Jhund, with Ankush Gedam winning the best debutant actor (male) award and Anek’s Andrea Kevichüsa winning the best debutant actor (female) award. Veteran actor Prem Chopra was honoured with the lifetime achievement award.
