- Derek wants to marry Meredith. His mom has given him "The Ring" and told him that Meredith is "the one". Derek carries it about in his pocket, planning to propose. Then a pregnant patient of Derek's dies, due to his surgical mistake. Derek doesn't know what he wants from anyone, anymore.

It was very nice to see the different side of Derek. I thought he was gonna be the perfect guy who had no dark side throughout the entire show. Thanks Shonda.

Ok, Meredith is far from perfect, but Derek, has a super sharp tongue and has said some really horrible, (not ever going to forget he said it) things to Meredith!
On multiple occasions, just really, really mean! After they adopt Zola, merideth gets fired for helping Odelle, he leaves her AGAIN! His mother told him "shes GOOD for you. You see black+white, she sees grey. You NEED her". Then he straight up says i cant have a child w/someone who doesn't know right vs. Wrong. Hateful. Cruel. And just leaves her AGAIN. (Owen+christina go through the same w/her pregnancy. He kicks her out etc) Derek is a hypocrite. very mentally/verbally abusive, and Seeing him capable of being THAT mean, that wrong, makes him no longer attractive, instantly! But if it were Merideth w/Early onset vs. Placebo he wouldve done the same. Meredith being so fragile + so easily shattered by hurtful words, actions, especially by the ones she loves, he knows better!
