    Rob Parissi, I don't know if you read these comments, but thanks for one of the greatest songs of my youth (and adulthood, and middle age, lol).I just finished watching your live performance on The Midnight Special for about the thousandth time and saw this video right underneath. Just had to watch. Another great performance. 59 years old living right outside Philly and I will listen to this until I die. I also have to say you had one of the greatest album covers of all time.

      Hi Francis, I agree 100% with your comment. You said it better than me. I love this song!! Always have and always will.
      I have the Wild Cherry Cassette...back then the song was so different..beat, guitars, drums..Wild Cherry song..made any drab day, at work, into a Funky Time in the kitchens I supervised.
      Yay!! Thanks, Laura from NH

    The guy is still groovin' as hell ! This is one of the hookiest and best pop tunes in the history of music. Like lots of pop masterpieces -many Beatles, or Bee Gees hits-, I heard it was composed in what, 30 minutes or so?

    Awww Man, THE best funk - the beat and the lyrics - - There are just times when this tune is in my head and I just HAVE to hear it. Once I walked into a clinic and went up to someone I knew and just started singing this and he came right in with it, I knew he would, that's why I went up to him while he was sitting down and began singing this. And we weren't quiet about it, either. We were singing and added, till you die???? When we got to the back the guy that watches everything said he thought it was the radio especially when he heard the, till you dIE ?? ROFL so I guess we didn't do a bad job of getting down with PLAY THAT FUNKY MUSIC WHITE BOY.
    There's not many places you can walk into and just begin singin' with the other people there joining in all singing and getting down in full force. It was good.
    Thanks WILD CHERRY for composing the best funk tune and the best and most played funk tune in the world 💋💋💋

    Was this song ever considered RACIST?

    • @calichef1962
      @calichef1962 Před 3 lety

      No. It wasn't considered racist in 1976-- AT ALL! If anything, it was high praise to all the black funk artists that went before them and showed them not just how to do it, but taught them how to _FEEL_ it. It's why musicians all have their preferred genres. Everyone's body works in their own, unique way. Some folks are built for rock like Mick Jagger, Peter Frampton, Jimi Hendrix, and yes, Rob, too, while some folks are built for pop/soul like the ALL of the Jacksons, Tina Turner and Dianna Ross. Some dancers are built for ballet, some dancers are built for hip-hop and others are meant to dance on a pole. It just depends on what the person performing feels and the way their unique physicality responds to the music.
