Too long a shaft will never make for an optimal ride but could you have the motor's level down a notch or is it that your transom on the jonboat is almost vertical and doesn't allow for it ? Regards !
Adding an hydrofoil generally should be avoided as it affects the boat's designed planing attitude. In trying to fix purpoising, one then usually messes up all the hull's dynamics and handling (read safety). No concern on a pontoon but a definite no-no on a speedboat ! Regads

wonder if he has motor tilted down as far as it will go? The further down you tilt it. the further down the bow will go
