  • In 1977 the production of Earth Wind & Fire band asked the Tres Pontas publishing company in Brasil to get a license to record 2 brazilian songs from this music catalog: Beijo Partido (Toninho Horta) and Ponta de Areia (Milton Nascimento and Fernando Brant). Those recordings was recorded at same time , but the company released those 2 songs with only one tittle: Brazilian Rhyme - Interlude I - Beijo (Beijo Partido) and Brazilian Rhyme - Interlude II - Ponta de Areia.
We dont know why that the Interlude I of Brazilian Rhyme (Beijo Partido) had only the Coda part, in a Vamp. The band was inspired by the original song of Toninho Horta, whose track was recorded by Miilton Nascimento in 1975 on the album Minas on EMI Odeon. On the version by E, W & F on the album ALL IN ALL from 1977, they used on the recording the same chords and original harmony of Beijo Partido. We can hear easily the first 4 bars of Toninho's original composition, with repetition on the Coda how a Vamp, with another melody created by the band.
About 15 years later the company had made a box with 3 CDs Compilation called Eternal Dance, and for the first time came out the entire version of Brazilian Rhyme aka Beijo Partido. On this track E, W & F band sings the exactly melody of harmony of Beijo Partido with a new english lirycs, and only on the Bridge Part they changes the melody but they keeped the harmony of the original song.
The Interlude I of Brazilian Rhyme (Beijo Partido) was recorded by many artists and DJs around the world, and also has a lot of new versions with very special stars like Marcus Miller and Take 6.
Please enjoy this version of Beijo Partido by Earth Wind & Fire band and lets keep in contact and waiting for the next posts from this Oficial Channel of Toninho Horta.
