- This video talks through the Cardano staking rewards, the timeline of when you will get your ADA pay-out as well as why rewards are different in every epoch. I go through how long it takes to get your first pay-out as well as what happens when you change your stake pool. I also cover how to track your staking rewards using adapools.

Just got my first payout after 18 days of waiting 🤩
Great video, you answered the question I'd been searching for all day
My fav Cardano CZcamsr with another educational and helpful video! 😍
Really enjoy your step by step videos Paul. The world of crypto can be fast and confusing so your educational videos are much appreciated. Keep up the good work!
Just staked my ADA with your Paul 2 Pool 👍
yeah I was a bit confused why it's not rewarding, very well explained!
Awesome Video Paul thank you
Great clear informative video. Thanks Paul!!
Great video, thanks Paul!
Best explanation I've seen. Thank you!
No problem Rich
I have finally pulled the trigger to staked with you because I have been doing my own research on it. You have been very helpful. I'm still new to staking or know what I'm doing
Thanks for joining
This is very helpful and informative👍🏻 Thank you🙏🏻 Staked mine a few weeks back in your pool and was just patiently waiting. This info helped a lot! Great job💪🏻🔥
Great video Paul! Super informative. I was curious about changing stake pools and potentially losing rewards during that 15-20 day period. Thank you for outlining the process clearly. Cheers man
Thanks for the useful information! 🎓
thank you for this
This was extremely informative. You should call this “Everything you wanted to know about staking but didn’t know who to ask”.
haha thanks Mark
One shot at a block slot. Got it
Great information thanks Paul..
Just delegated $1k worth into your pool Paul. Thx for the vids.
Paul…. Youre the fkn man! So informative answering questions I always wanted to have answered without even asking lol
Great info thx
Very good video, helped me a lot. 👍
Just staked with paul 2, I believe in your channel and growth bro
Thanks Daniel
@@CardanoWithPaul my next pool will be with yours as well.
Thanks, nice work!
Oh wow I didn't know that adapools had the tax feature! Thank you Paul for the info, keep up the great content!
Great content bro! Ill be staking with you.
Thank you
Awesome info
Watching this because just started staking my ada on kraken 🥳
Kia ora from N.Z just got Daedalus downloaded (18hrs all up ova 3 days lol). Transfered ny ADA from Xodus, watched a few vids on how to stake. U rock bro. but ain't got a clue where these staking pools are. CZcams was saying Sundaeswap. but don't know shiat how to find it or any other staking pool.
When you go to the delegation center on daedalus you will be able to select a pool. I show it here - czcams.com/video/4nDpYUwYC3c/video.html
Thanks for all you do Paul! Another informative vid.
Amazing pool to stake with
Thanks for your work Paul. I just finished setting up my wallet and staked with your Paul 2 wallet. I don't know what the red highlight on the numbers represents over the ones that are green, but I saw you mention either way it works out to around 5% annually regardless so I'm cool with that and helping support you. Thanks!
Thanks Adrian. When you stake first in yoroi sometimes you get them red! But when you refresh they should be gone
@@CardanoWithPaul I'm using daedalus. I assume it just means it had less contributors than more established pools or something? I'm not worried either way though lol I trust you
@@AdrianLoganLive ya both pools are producing blocks and rewards every epoch 🙂
Hey Paul, one question I had for a while: Does the number of transactions in the block the pool produces influence the rewards the pool gets for the block? For example, in some blocks there are 0 transactions, in others, there are up to 50 or even more. Do both blocks generate the same rewards, since most of the rewards are currently paid by the treasury? Or are these rewards added "on top" of what the treasury pays for each bock, which is around 750 ADA I think at the moment? Or do the transaction fees get pooled all together for the epoch and are then divided by the number of blocks in the epoch and are paid out proportionally to the pools, depending on the number of blocks they produced?
Thank you 🙏
I’m glad you understand this. What in the hell is an epoch?
epoch is the cycle of time in Cardano and it is 5 days long
Very good information you shared. Good efforts. kindly clear my 4 questions
1. what's the APY in that pool? Are APY for all pools are different?
2. how much fee it take to enter in certain pool?
3. what's the minimum locking period?
4. By Staking ADA via Ledger Nano ,how safe our funds are if delegating pool get closed or do scam???
thanks
APY varies from every pool but most pools that are run properly and producing regular blocks will balance out between 5%-5.5% APY
Pool fees are taken from the overall pool rewards and not individual delegators so you dont pay to join only the transaction fee to sign your stake key and a 2 ADA deposit to the network
There is no lock with Cardano
When delegating you are still the only one that can control your funds, the pool never gets control of them
Ty for what you do m8
Good video
I decided to start staking the other day. Followed your how to video and put 1500 ADA in your pool! Let's get earning 🙌
Thanks for joining William
I got 6 g
good info
AFTERNOON PAUL
Clarification on US taxes. It's my understanding you would report the USD value of the reward as income, i.e pay your income taxes rate. Works same way as a savings account.
However you do not pay on the growth in value as a capital gain UNTIL it's sold.
Do you have thoughts on adalite as a wallet?
Hey m8, great video bro ! I am delegating in the pool called PAUL1, should I redelegate to PAUL for more rewards, or is it practicaly the same? When will it hit 100% saturation ?
Hey, Paul. Can you do a video on how to stake to get CardSwap tokens? Thanks! Love the videos!
I'm hopefully talking to someone from the team today and will know more about them then.
Awsome
Hi Paul!
I'm staking with my 97 ADA and joined your pool. It's currently at 265 epoch. When should I receive my first reward and how much should I be willing? Thanks man!
Staked my ADA in one of your pools a few days ago Paul. Your videos are very helpful and appreciate your hard work! Go raibh maith agat!
Go raibh maith agat. Is mór agam an tacaíocht
Great informative Video...thanks Paul. People need to be educated....most CZcamsrs are into price predictions....boring....we know ADA is going to the moon....:)
i saw in an other vid of yours that Daedalus auto claims rewards but does that mean it also pays the claim fee everytime? As wih Yoroi you could only pay 1 time and claim after long term staking?
It claims when you send a transaction from the wallet so doesn't cost you every epoch
Hi Paul, a couple of questions I'm hoping you can help with. Is luck based on how many slots assigned in the slot lottery or how many blocks minted? How can a pool mint more blocks than slots assigned?
Luck is on how many blocks you mint. You can mint more blocks than slots you have been assigned in an epoch
Go go go
When you change your stake pool you do have to pay the fee again right?
Hi Paul. What's your % APY when staking ADA thru your Paul 2 Pool?
varies epoch to epoch but over the long term should be 5% 5.5% over the year
Is this the ADA TornADA?
Hi paul, I want to change my stake pool. Do I have to wait till the epoch finish or can Ido it prior?
You can change at any time and your first epoch earning in the new pool will be 2 epochs after you join
Hey Paul Should we stake on Paul1 or Paul2?
PAUL is currently the best as its the lower saturation of the 2. Thanks
Paul can you estimate the rewards for delegators, on a percentage basis, after all ada has been mined?
It will all depend on transaction volume on the network
Does anyone know if it’s worth it staking only 500 cardano?
I’m still on the fence with staking 🤷🏼♂️ This is very informative 🙏🏻
There is absolutely zero risk in staking ADA or any lockup period. You can undelegate and sell at anytime (just wont receive reward). Get off the fence and make more ADA!!
Delegation is done on the wallet, not your ADA. So any ADA you hold in a delegated wallet is earning rewards. You continue owning the ADA in the wallet, have the ability to send it to someone or fund it with more ADA. A snapshot every 5 days will record the amount held for that period and rewards will be based on that amount the following epoch. No risk to funds. You're losing out 4-5% APY if you're not delegated
I was the same way but Yoroi is a really nice wallet even if you aren't staking. Then once you get your ADA into Yoroi it's literally 2 clicks to stake.
If you’re not staking ada, you’re losing. If free ada. Period
How can I stop staking? Does it cost 2 ada everytime you delegate and do you get the 2 ada back when you stop delegating?
any answer to this question ?
what are the fees for changing pools?
You just pay a transaction fee to change your stake key which is roughly 0.17ADA
Hi Paul, Can you stake multiple pools at any one time?
You can only stake to one pool from one wallet. To stake to multiple pools you need multiple wallets
Hey Paul. Great video. I delegate to your pool on the Daedalus Wallet. Do ADA that I transfer into the wallet automatically get staked in your pool or do I need to redelegate each time?
Thanks Jordan, once your wallet is staked anything new added is auto staked so no need to restake every time
@@CardanoWithPaul Thanks, Paul! Easy enough.
My Daedalus wallet says it’s a “node”…. Should I leave it up and running in the background? Any benefit to doing so?
No it doesn't need to be left open to stake. Every time you open it it will download the latest transaction from the blockchain
I have a question. The rewards that I get from staking, whenever I decide to withdraw them, how do I calculate that into my portfolio? When I decide to withdraw do I put it into my portfolio app as the price at the time?
You earn the rewards every 5 days so basically every 5 days is when new ADA is added to your portfolio
@@CardanoWithPaul I get that, but what im trying to understand is since those Ada’s are rewards and im not purchasing them, how do I calculate them as if i’m Dollar Cost Averaging. For Example my Average price is 1.00 and i’m getting rewards weekly. By the end of the year is my Avg still $1.00?
is diversifying applicable in cardano staking? is there maybe a 'good' reason this is ideal?
eg: i have 100% ada split into 5 staking pools. (20% each).
or just go 100% in 1 staking pool
You should get roughly the same rewards whether you delegate to 1 or 5 pools. With 5 pools you just pay a bit more in transaction fees
@@CardanoWithPaul thanks mate 👍
So....I'd like to stake my ADA. What's the difference between Pool 1 & 2? Which one to choose? Does it matter?
Both should give about the same rewards, my current goal is to bring PAUL up to the same stake level as PAUL1
@@CardanoWithPaul ….okay, so PAUL it is then! Thank you!
so if I understood correctly we get additional Ada every epoch?
So every five days we get rewards, which roughly ammounts to 5% a month?
Thanks Paul for your help, I have just started.
The first reward takes 15 - 20 days and then every 5 days and roughly adds up to 5% over the year, slightly more with compounding as rewards are auto compounded for you
@@CardanoWithPaul thanks:)
@@CardanoWithPaul I wish I knew about this earlier. I would have bought more Ada. However better late than never.
Thanks again for your info.
Do you recommend staking on an exchange like kraken in some cases? Or is it always a better idea to stake from your own wallet with yoroi or daedelus?
For me its always better to stake in a wallet you hold the keys for
Not your key, not your coin :)
New to Cardano. If I keep my car Dano on a Trezor can I stake from there?
Exchanges will give you a w2 at the end of the year. Wallets are cold storage... tax differences
Hi paul, what would happen with the fees if cardano price is let's say $3. Will the fees reduced, therefore our staking rewards decrease? I'm trying to search through Ouroboros paper but couldn't find anything with the fees structure
The community can vote to reduce fees if the price of ADA goes really. This will be how all changes to the protocol will be made in the future once full governance is introduced
in theory, the transactions will always have the same price, regardless of the price of ADA
@@CardanoWithPaul I see. Thank you
Why do some exchanges stake Cardano and others dont. I'm on CB and they dont appear to be staking Cardano :-(
The ones that offer it need to set up and manage the server infrastructure to do it
Bought ETH on Coinbase, ended up changing them all to ADA, and only managed to stake 17 ADA coins with Paul 2 ): this is about as much as I can afford rn. Is the amount so low that it's essentially impossible to see returns?
You will see about 5.2% over the year. Thanks for joining
Im in pool 1, we did pretty good on the last epoch. I was wondering why the return seemed a bit higher this last time cheers!
Hi paul staked at atomic wallet should i transfer it to yoroi?staked with ur pool 2months already😉
Thanks for supporting the pool. If your happy with atomic you can stay there. I just personally prefer the official wallets and using a hardware wallet
@@CardanoWithPaul thank you paul
What if I buy more ADA then I originally stake. Is it easy to add my new ADA to my current stake?
When you add additional ada to your wallet, it is automatically staked.
Thanks Paul. Think you mentioned in an earlier video about an exit strategy spreadsheet you were going to publish. Any news on that one? Love to see it.
Ya that one should be out by next week. I have the first calculator built I just need to put some slides together for it
Im holding ADA in voyager app and am getting 5.25% rewards on that, giving me roughly 25 ada a month. Is it worth it to transfer my ada to a pool? Or just leave it there? If the rewards% is roughly the same whsts the point?
Rewards would be roughly the same. The main advantage is that they would be holding them in a wallet that you control the keys to
The tax feature is very helpful, is there any page where I can get this in EUR instead of USD?
How much ADA do I need so I can Stake it?
You can stake anything over 10 ADA but if you are staking under 100 you need to stake for 2 - 3 months to cover the initial transaction fees
Hi Paul, if I am already delegated with you and I add Ada to my wallet is any further actions required to stake that new cardano ? I am staking with Daedalus. I appreciate the input
No. That ADA will automatically be delegated to the pool. They will be active in the pool 16-20 days after being added to the wallet
No anything new added is auto staked for you
@@CardanoWithPaul thanks guys
Paul the capital gains tax is that only if I cash my rewards out each month if I’m living off or retiring? Or do I need to keep any eye on what rewards I’ve had in my total ( uk )
I'm not sure about the UK but generally if the price of crypto is different to the price it was when you bought / received it then you owe capital gains on the difference
No cgt applicable if you cash in as soon as you receive the stake rewards. You are liable for income tax on the full value of the reward though unfortunately (regardless of whether you cashed it in or not) - it is treated exactly the same as if you received a corporate dividend from stock held.
@@ianjackson88 thanks Ian
if i use the PAUL pool will I be getting around %5 return?
Ya it should average out to just above 5% over the year
@@CardanoWithPaul How much of a kickback do you get?
@@Iliek you mean for running the pool? The fees on mine are the minimum fixed fee and 3% margin which are all taken out of total pool rewards and not individual delegators
@@CardanoWithPaul what do you think the delegation rewards will be in 4-5 years ??
Will they go down dramatically ?
@@mebarkiimad8999 No way to know as they will depend on transaction volume as fees will be part of the rewards paid out
do we have to pay a deposit/fee, for every time we add more ADA into our respective pool?
No once you send ADA to the wallet it is auto staked for you
Is there a new fee if we change to your pool Paul?
Just a transaction fee of 0.17 ADA to sign a new stake key
@@CardanoWithPaul thankyou.
Are you still working on creating your staking calculator?
Calculators are live on my site for a few months now - www.cardanowithpaul.com/calculators/
Do you know if Youroi will show an active cash amount in the wallet?
No Yoroi doesn't show the cash value of the ADA you hold. I would expect them to add it at some point though
@@CardanoWithPaul Thank you. :)
@Alex Johnson I like Yoroi because it is linked with my cold storage on my ledger device. If Yoroi or Ledger had the ability to show the cash value it would be a nice feature.
@Alex Johnson oh maybe I will do that then. Thank you 😊
Thoughts on lending ada?
Not sure where you are looking at lending it but personally I'm not. Once defi is active on Cardano I will look to see what opportunities are out there then
@@CardanoWithPaul i have been staking my ADA but recently saw on KuCoin, they have short term lending for 7, 14 and 28 days for higher APY 10-65% I was trying to find the pitfalls - not being able to access while it’s being lent out, having to keep it on an exchange but didn’t know if anyone else had more insight.
Epoc should happen every 24 hrs ;)
Turkey million is now stuck in my head .
Hello everyone! Just wanted to get your attention to something. There are a LOT of videos popping (even websites) about that are cuts and edits of Charles promoting false giveaways and other things. PLEASE, PLEASE, do NOT fall for scams. There will NEVER be a giveaway of ADA by anyone. Sorry for the CAPSLOCK, just wanted to bring people's attention to this, as a lot of good folk keep falling for them.
I've been dca'ing into ada for a year now, switched to your pool a few weeks back for the craic , got a feeling I'll be selling most of it around August and then I'm gonna lose my fuckin soul!!!
haha good stuff. Thanks for joining
When Cardano pump mate. Can't see shit coins pumping and Cardano staying below them
I'm expecting a lot of the major Alts like ADA to pump over the next week. I'll cover that in a video tomorrow
I'm just a random dude but i think it's going to be pretty slow for a while and then shoot up once they get smart contracts. "Not financial advice". I'm just holding for now.
Anyone into Algorand? Staking is flawless. Do beautiful. Makes cardano look like an ugly sister 😂😂
Hahahahaha..... twat
