Okay now show us the behind-the-scenes footage of you trying to strike a deal with him to purchase the card.
The production in this video is outstanding! Great job guys!
Thanks!
Can we appreciate the time and effort Sports card investor puts in for us!
Thank you!
It’s all for him.

Wonderful video about the most iconic card in the history of card collecting. There will never be another like the 52 Topps Mantle.
That Mantle Rookie is like the Hope Diamond of trading cards and especially sports cards. Thanks for showing us that gem and the interview was just as amazing, thanks Geoff.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Mantle rookie is 1951. The 1952 Topps is first topps card, nor rookie.
@@ryanbarre2390 So Jordan's rookie is 84 Star then?
what an amazing example. honestly this looks nicer than the SGC 9.5, “best known example”. the borders look more white / pack fresh to my eyes, better surface.
This one is definitely off center on the back.
What an absolute Gem! I hope I can see it one day. My father's favorite players were Mantle, Ed Matthews and Duke Snider. I have a collection of Matthews and Snider going. I own a 55 Bowman Mantle in pristine condition. I own the entire set we put together when I was growing up. My father is gone, but my 55 Bowman Set is on display in my office. I look at it constantly and think about my pops and love it!
You had someone who appreciated the sport and helped you put together a set of cards. I have old school cards like Goudy, Cracker Jack, Heritage cards just to name a few. I put them together for my son but to this day he has no interest. He said get rid of them I also have the players that you mentioned graded cards. I'm getting ready to rid myself of them because I don't have any one who shares my interest in sports cards/memorabilia. My girlfriends look at me like I'm crazy as they said we are not interested.
@@elizabethwiggins3849 I'm sorry. That's such a shame. If you want to move on from some let me know. I'm down for some great ones!
What I thought was funny is that I was offered 20 grand for my cards site unseen. I noticed the person's eyes light up as he seen five of the ones he's interested in and the autograph baseball bat and rookie card of Nolan Ryan and his brothers rookie card.
@@elizabethwiggins3849 some folks are scummy sadly. They will assume you don't know Sh** about anything and be able to find "the next attic find" steal for $100 and go on to make $10'000s of dollars
@@burno7799 you are right because he had told a coworker that one of my cards which was ungraded is worth more that 20 grand or more if it goes to an auction. What cards are you interested in. I have cards back in the Babe Ruth,Treach Speaker and H.Wagner and Larry Lajorie, Willie Mays, Jackie Robinson, Duke Snider, Mantle era. I think that I must have doubled or tripled of most cards. Don't you wonder why there's not an answer as to the value of the reprint cards that Topps threw over board.
They should of told the story of that card. Who sold it to fogul? Where did that person get it? How did it survive so many years and be in perfect condition? What’s the story of the card? Could of made this video so much better! That card tells a story and all we know is he bought it for $125,000.
Yes, I'm curious as well.
Buying the card is not the story.
The preservation and how it came to be saved in this condition is the story.
My guess.. This was pulled from a sealed box in 1996 and then immediately graded. I don't think it's ever seen the sunlight or handled besides when it was graded.
Either way, quite remarkable.
Imagine all the Mantle rookies that were thrown out by moms back in the day.
Or ripped in half by bicycle spokes. My dad always said he had a bunch of Mantle cards and his mom threw them out.
It’s so beautiful. Thank you to Mr.Fogel for allowing you to bring out this to show us. Amazing… even one grade A is just something.
Who was the original owner of this card and how did they obtain it and grade it? I'd love to hear that story as well.
It's a 10 cause it's classic but looks off center(I know 99% all old cards are) but still if u grading my pannini silver rookie common... lol
Wow. Holy grail card. However I must wonder if there was ever a 84-85 Jordan Star Rc in PSA 10 if it would surpass this one
Great video thank you for sharing this with us.
It’s incredible how far cards of come
WOW!!! truly flawless. Thanks so much for posting this. Amazing
What an incredible episode Geoff and team!
Thanks Kim! Your channel is great!
Mantle's rookie is 1951 Bowman not 1952 Topps
Edited comments means you're trolling because your initial comment was misinformation. Move along.
@@deezihogan8675 well first of all it's a fact, and because I accidentally typed 1051 instead of 1951.... that's trolling??
Move along.
@@deezihogan8675 man you really hate truth don't you. This is my comment not yours, that others have approved of. I think you should "move along"
@@PoorMansInvesting watch your mouth. Who even said it's his rookie, ma'am?
I wonder how many mantle rookies were put in between spokes to make bicycles sound like dirt bikes lol
Quite a few…😂 My aunt had a Mantle Card from the 60’s in her living room. It was hanging on the wall with a thumbtack through it. I was so mad when I saw it.😂 This was in the 80’s.
💀💀💀
This video felt like a documentary, outstanding work
Thanks!!
Music almost sounded like a Ken Burns documentary when Geoff held the card.
I’ve always wanted to own this card. One day I will own one.
Beautiful video all around and thank you Sir for the Interview with this Man An Legend in himself well worth the Watch ✅
Great monolog and video of one of the best.. Thanks for sharing
So glad your face didn’t melt when you opened the box!
Beautiful piece, belongs in a museum
Congrats Mr Wilson on being able to see that amazing card. Great video
This so masterfully edited and shot!!!!
Any way we can purchase that stand up display that held the mantle? 😅 just to say you have the stand that owned the most expensive card in history is a part of history in itself. Would pass the stand down to my kids and tell them of the story 😅😍
Now THAT would be a TRUE INVESTMENT!!
Great content and impeccable editing in this episode!
Fantastic to hear about the journey in owning this card and passion for the hobby. Great video. 👍
Very classy video, so well done! Thank you Mr Fogel for sharing such a treasure, it was an honor.. Back in about '96 I traded a Cal Ripken rookie for a porcelain '52 Mantle
What an awesome video!!!!! You did the perfect mantle justice!!!!!
At 4:38, what's that black spot top ri GB HTC. Is that in the case?
Look at the black mark near Mantle's neck. It goes from the sky nearly thru the bat. I am sorry but that Mantle should not be a 10. If i was buying. Which let's be honest. No way could i afford this. Id rather pay for the SGC 9.5 that they graded. Even if it were the same price.
"They wrote that Marshall Fogel is stupid, [and] now they call me wisely eccentric". If this isn't a perfect example to say F U to people trying to tear you down for something you're passionate about, then idk what is.
Exactly. This card made an incredible investment, regardless if anyone acknowledges it or not. This is why I never understood the "collector" vs "investor" mindset. Why couldn't a guy do both? I never understood that debate.
Ive recently been cleaning out home/houses in urban areas. Havnt found anything good yet but already got a warehouse full of spare tools and work items since we can keep everything from every place we cleaned out. Take everything we want to keep then set up a small real estate sale AKA garage. sell everything for $1-10 make an extra $50-500 well cleaning out the house and take all the waste metal to the scrap yard appliances and get back $350 per 1ton.
What an honor and privilege that must have been to actually be holding that card! I can't even imagine the feelings you must have had. Epic video!
I had no idea there could different interpretations of “perfect centering”. That’s like different opinions on 2+2 equaling 4. How interesting.
The sgc 9.5 is a nicer card. Much better color.
It’s the Stradivari “ Messiah” violin of sport cards , incredible!
wow absolutely wild wished i had 121 thousand back in 96 i remember trying to find jordans in 1996 flair haha good buy for that guy
marshell is very very lucky to accumulate the collection he has.
At some point each of us is quietly wondering: "it's so perfect.....how do you know it's real and not a reprint?" 🤔
Becuase it’s graded by psa
@237 that's common across the industry. None of the big 3 tend to disagree with their competitors. The % across the board is only around 10 that will get cracked. You're always better off cracking yourself and submitting raw over trying to submit already graded by someone else
@@davis9225 and PSA is a company ran by.....humans. Mistakes happen so to see a card worth so much exist like never seen before puts into question "is it Real?"
Paper used, type of ink, type of printer
@@el4174 all (3) things that can’t be deciphered on a card in a graded slab
It is so good that you might think it a fake if you didn't know better. Unbelievable card
That card is the greatest player of all time mickey mantle was a legend and the fact it is worth $50 million dollars it needs to be kept in a vault
Mickey Mantle is absolutely not the greatest baseball player of all time.
@@davidsnyder5417 I would disagree and he is worth $50 million dollars lol
@@johnkwhite1984 It is the greatest baseball card of all time, but he is definitely not the best baseball player of all time. Look at the numbers. You may feel that he is the best, but feelings and stats are very different. He is 21st in WAR, 18th in HRs, and not even close in OPS or batting average. Why do you think he’s the greatest?
@@davidsnyder5417you’re one of those Ohtani and Trout are the GrEaTesT guys 😂😂
Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Best of the Best and it has to be The Mick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! God Bless
Are the ones that Topps reprinted worth anything? Before those cards as you mentioned were dumped I acquired a few. Some are graded but that particular one is not. Since I haven't gotten a response I guess that's my answer to the question concerning the reprints. Thank you anyway.
Wow vielen vielen Danke fürs teilhaben lassen
Great video, thank you
Great video and an awesome experience. Thank you!
That card is special ❤
Thanks for sharing. Was this one of the Mickey Mantle's from the Al Rosen Mr Mint find?
YUP
If you go the National or a big card show, this card is not THAT rare. The Honus Wagner T-206 is THE holy grail, NOT this card.
There’s 3 psa 10s in existence. It’s that rare.
Great video Geoff
Wow... Amazing... Thank you.
Nice, I really enjoyed the video. But I have a question: last year Fogel mentioned in other videos that the card is worth 25M. Now one year later it doubled that price. How is that possible?
Since then the SGC 9.5 sold for over $12 million and a PSA 9 for even more.
Amazing episode
This and the SGC 9.5 are the best looking 52 Mantle's imo.
Both Type 1, I'm not sure which one is better.
But either way, they are both basically perfect.
The PSA 10 Diamondbacks version is inferior to both.
Love the intro.❤
Awesome that's a legendary card right there
Beautiful card ❤️
Love the vids
This card isn’t even a rookie card. The best athletes/players in MLB history are probably playing right now. Bleacher Report did a top 25 players and he was in the teens.
THE VALUE, IN DOLLARS, OF THIS MICKEY MANTLE BASEBALL CARD IS ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE.
I got some baseball cards in the garage. Might go take a look. Might have seen this one.
Well done video. Big question is will Fogel ever sell?
My biggest problem with this Mantle it's not perfectly centered
the 9.5 sgc is better
His rookie card is from 51. The most overhyped 2nd year card ever😂
I seen it. Camera pans right over 1952. Good call
And? It still costs a fortune lmao
@@chernandez212331these people are so annoying. Envy is such a powerful emotion. Turns people absolutely mental.
I could retire off owning that card.
We all could 😆
That would sound amazing between the spokes on my bicycle!
How did it get a PSA 10? It has a black dot in the right top corner
Gorgeous card
it is such i nice card will it be at the next national in chicago
Wondering if the highest grade Honus Wagner might rival the potential price of this card?
The problem with the highest graded Wagner, which is a T206 PSA 8, is it is trimmed. I know PSA will never do it, but they need to get the card back and get it in a holder that says Authentic instead 8.
Can you imagine being smart or lucky enough to have that much money, but still dumb enough not to notice it's diagonal cut centering and that it is clearly not as clean as the SGC 9.5?
Forget the fact that it appears to be in an obvious bubble... Insane price for a double printed second year card of the second best CF from NYC in the 51 rookie class.
You’re completely mental with jealousy
@@chexnfx7161 your completely mental with missing the point.
3:39 - Photoshoppers! Get a Lonzo Ball card in that case immediately!
Nice cards
i would have to have another opinions besides PSA that it's not trimmed before buying it. IF I had that kind of money lol
How many cops with their guns out were behind the camera when you opened the holy grail of baseball cards
Epic you held it
I could swear I just seen this card sell in auction cheap too like 77$ not graded but in case
Crazy to think about how many people had this card in their bike spikes in the 50s
Ok imo this card would not grade a 10 if graded today. It’s just too off center for a 10.. the centering isn’t real bad… but it’s not psa 10 material. That said… i believe this card still presents better that the SGC 9.5 AND the Diamondbacks PSA 10. … this card is far more vivid and newer looking than those. The 9.5 has good centering but with very faded ( off white/ cream ) borders. The borders on the dianondback 10 are like… grey
This card however looks like it was right out of a pack with beautiful brite white borders and vivid coloring
It's perfect, wow
Dam it looks like all the other mickey cards. 😂
First I'll start by that is an Amazing Card however I've seen the two other 10's in person, I also saw the SGC 9.5 in person, I have not seen this card in person but I just got 1080 images of it which my eyes are no better then that. I hate to be Debbie Downer but this card has just as many if not more "slight imperfections" then the other two 10's I've seen and the SGC 9.5. The are ALL amazing cards and anyone who loves sports cards would dream of owning it. That being said, this is all marketing, no way you can say without a doubt this card is the "BEST" of the top 4 or 5 out there. Marshall has done a great job of getting this card out into the public and therefore it's the 'best known" 52 Mantle for sure. BTW, did anyone else notice what appeared to be a printing line running through lower portion of the bat, 4:12 from the bat up just missing his neck towards the outside of his ear? Maybe a scratch on the case? Hard to tell from a video but if it is a printing line, then for certain this is not the greatest example in the world. Wish they would have addressed that, I noticed 2 seconds after the card was on the screen? Cheers
Small scratch on the slab, not a print line. Card is perfect.
@@SportsCardInvestor That’s actually great to hear. I know there’s always “risk” when re-slabbing a card but that card needs to be re-slabbed, IMO. You can’t have the “greatest sports card in the world” and every time you look at it you see a big “scratch” right in the center of the card, especially if it is brought to market. Great video, appreciate all the hard work that goes into making these vids. Cheers
I like that even in the 50s kids wanted newer cards - not those ‘old’ 52 cards. Too bad they didn’t have judgmental influencers back then to tell them how foolish they were.
My old man has one, but unfortunately his has got a big old angled crease through the middle of the card... even tho the condition is shit, it's still pretty damn cool.
That card should be bought by the baseball hall of fame and placed near his bust
Thanks for the show! It is dreaming !
Would rather buy 25 $1m houses and 10000 cars
We need to stop calling the 52 Topps his rookie, it’s not… That would be the 1951 Bowman.
THANK YOU. 👏👏👏
Just because it’s popular does not make it his rookie. Call me crazy, but the first year of a player’s career is his rookie year haha
Its a damn rookie screw Bowman. Just go with the flow jackass
@@drew703 it’s his topps rookie, but not his true rookie
So True, how many 1951 Gem Mint 10 are out there?,That's the True Rookie Card.
52 is his rookie 51 is his first bowman 😂🇺🇸
There's really no excuse to not film a prank where you drop the card on the corner and break it in half.
I HAVE A TOPPS 52 MICKEY MANTLE CARD IN GOOD CONDITION WILL THIS CARD MAKE MY CARD WORTH MORE THANK YOU SPORTS CARD INVESTOR
so who owns the other 2 psa 10?
The owner of the Diamond Backs has 1
It’s so old and never got hurt
Awesome
Wish I had a Time Machine
So that's what we're calling it now, "His Topps rookie?""
I don't put too much stock in Mike Baker stickers. His certificate claiming they carefully check these cards for this and that had a typo in the company name. Don't get me wrong, that's an AMAZING card but I can't take a Mike Baker opinion on a card seriously.
Buy it Geoff, Leave the ultra modern stuff alone, it's manufactured rarity .
Even geoff would have a hard time swinging $50m.
