- Hey guys welcome back to my channel, my name is Lauren and I’ve recently become a self employed dog groomer after working under my parents wing for 9 years since my dad started training me when I was just 16 and fresh out of high school! I can’t believe it’s been that long, I’m very excited to start promoting and growing my own following on here, on Facebook and also on tiktok and instagram so watch this space 🤩 I am Wirral based and run my business from inside laurendale in eastham, we are currently going through a huge refit of our shop and will soon be reopening as just a dog groomers where me and other self employed dog groomers will be working away to make all your four legged friends look beautiful! So excited to see what the future of our business holds and hope you want to follow along 💕

A lot of older Borders find hand-stripping intolerable, and it is stressful for dog and owner. Great video, very helpful, and use of scissors for face trim especially so. Thank you Lauren, ignore the know-alls. The best video on clipping that we found, as it covers all parts of the dog.
Borders should be plucked not shaved. Never shaved ours.
My Border has a very fine inner coat , she was stripped once which left her bare and sore . She now gets scissor cut , so to all you who are so negative , you need to go by the individual dog , not the breed .
Scissors don’t remove the dead hair and defeats the point.
Clipping doesn’t remove the old dead hair and leaves the coat feeling bristley and horrible. It also reveals the wrinkles on back of neck, not nice. You can hand strip yourself as they don’t need to look like show dogs, just a good tidy up and strip out the dead hair works wonders. This chap is adorable and so tolerant though.
What a transformation! Love that you pause frequently to give reassurances and praise, and that you get a friendly tail wag in return!
Shouldn't this breed be trimmed???
Well done
Such a good girl
Lauren. Could you tell me the blade length of the attachment please? I'm doing my Border this weekend, your video is just so helpful. Thanks RB. 🤩🤩
Amazing! Glad it helped, I usually use a 30blade with a 2 or a 3 guide attachment xx
@@laurenemcotton You're so good and gentle with that little dog, well done you. Thanks again.
Thankyou so much for showing that.great job.
@laurenemcotton hi Lauren I know you used a 30 blade and a 2 combed whats a 3?? Thx Lisa
Did you clip the private area or did I miss it?
Thank you for this video. My Border is a “single coat” and he currently looks like a muppet.I will share this with his groomer. Where are you located?
At wat age should I take my border terrier a bath
Thank you so much for this. My Border is soft coated, so clipping is ideal for his coat.
Excellent! You missed the outside of the ears! What blade were you using please?
30 blade with a 2 guide
I thought that they had to be stripped not clipped 🤔interesting
In reply to first comment, their cosat changes over time and very often becomes difficult and painful to hand strip. So the only options are trimming or using a pair of thinning scissors
@@RohanTheBT that’s great thanks I’m getting border soon and don’t like the look of that procedure looks very uncomfortable
@@chrissyplanteater2892 if you need any advice let us know, I’ve had 5 borders.
Had borders for year . Had show dogs . Clipped once with clippers the coat will never be same
@@danking8379 It is important to note that the effects of clipping a Border Terrier's coat will not be permanent, and the coat will eventually grow back to its original length and texture. Regular grooming and maintenance will be required to maintain the coat's appearance and condition.
We had our Border professionally stripped. It was only when he got up to 14 years old that we started just trimming him. He lived to be 16! He was a handsome boy after a strip. He looked like he needed a bow tie, lol.
ich dacht border terrier werden getrimmt und nicht geschoren um ihre fellstruktur nicht zu beschädigen???
Beautiful job well done
Reggie from Strays.
I’d let you shave my border anyday you are very good with this lovely young lady and she’s not traumatised like my borders when they came back from grooming 👍👌👏👏❤️❤️
I was wondering what size clipper attachment you use?
I usually use a 30 blade with a 2 guide or a 3 guide 😊
@@laurenemcotton Thank you very much!!!
Beautiful work. Thank you for sharing ❤🐾
Thank you! 😊
You don't strip Borders by clipping. Ruins the coat, loses natural water proofing and goes curly. Pluck the hair out in marigold gloves and add a little plain talc. A few treats. Scissor round the delicate areas. @@laurenemcotton
You did a fantastic job. The music a little too much but you did great
Doesn't even look like a border terrier any more with a coat that fluffy. That's what years of clipping does
What du you use for a machine? 😊 🐶
No 😭😭😭😭 you should NEVER clip border terriers as you totally ruin the fur. They needs to be handstripped.
Big mistake clipping . Fur will never be the same
Thats one Border ruined for a bit! Spoils the look entirely. Ruins the coat.
Ideally borders should be hand stripped yes, but there are reasons to clip a border, stop being so negative it’s not necessary.
Rubbish. Hand stripped if showing a dog yes, you totally can clip a pet Border Terrier, it does not ruin their coat. Absolute rubbish. Why are people so narrow minded?
@@helengarner8826 Agree, we could never find a dog parlour that stripped our Borders. In the end it was a necessity to have them cut. If you don't show them why does it matter, and the dog does not have an opinion anyway.
Don’t clip these dogs. Offer the service of hand stripping or turn the owner away. You could get a huge fee for hand stripping. Clipping these dogs is just wrong.
No it's not !
@@MargaretKressinger You are the type of person who if applied for one of my puppies would fall at the 1st hurdle on the puppy enquiry form. States no clipping only hand stripping do you understand? If not move on. Poor dog in your house hold
@@MargaretKressinger Yes it is!
Oh mein Gott! Einen Border Terrier muss man die abgestorbenen Haare raustrimmen!!! Nicht scheren! Oh mein Gott!
Exactly
No you do not . Only if you want to show them. My Border has a thin undercoat and can't be stripped . My previous Border used to get very irritated skin when hand stripped and my Vet who had a Border told me it's unnecessary. Every Dog is different .
Poor Border's coat ruined from getting clipped.🙄
Should be stripping??
Oh, what a blasphemy … ;^)
Hand stripping ONLY,,,, Jesus christ,,,,,,
What does Jesus have to do with it?
Mine was so traumatised after being hand stripped! And he is has long curly coat .. in summer he pants terribly.. he needs clipping .. which would you prefer .. a excessively hot dog or a clipped one?
A prime example of mass produced dog groomer,,,, one set of Instructions fits all dogs,,,,, no research, no breed knowledge, just do wat u were told on every dog
Thank you for expressing your concerns about my decision to clip this Border Terrier's coat. I understand that not everyone may agree with this decision, and I respect your opinion. However, The owner made the decision to clip this Border Terrier's coat for a few reasons.
It is important to note that the effects of clipping a Border Terrier's coat will not be permanent, and the coat will eventually grow back to its original length and texture.
I understand that some people believe that a Border Terrier's coat should be left unclipped to maintain the breed's characteristic appearance. However, I believe that as long as my Border Terrier is healthy and well-cared for, the length of their coat is a personal choice.
I appreciate your concern and am happy to listen to any further concerns you may have if you can learn to be respectful
If the owner wants clippers then they shouldn't be the damn owner,,,,, hand strip ONLY for borders, live in the house live in the shed, watever, borders are hard as nails, hand strip or don't touch them, no nonsense
You need too know ur breeds and tell owners the score
@@laurenemcotton it's amazing how many people over react here. Nice job on the clip. I personally hand strip my BT, but there'll be a day when I won't want to put my dog through it. Cheers!
@@ragnarl9130 so much aggression! As an owner who clips her border terrier I do it due to him being traumatised from hand stripping and he gets excessively hot in summer which would be far more cruel to keep his coat thick and long.. not everyone has to fit into a view point - this dog looks lovely, I miss my dogs long coat as it is his character but looks over cruelty?
As a global community we have been trying to eradicate AIDS from the globe. There is no excuse for that music
That clipping is all wrong too.
