Nubu’s Memorial
Pets have a way of bookmarking a period of time in our lives. Thirteen years ago Nubu joined our family at Christmas. She was a tiny black ball of fur back then. She was my Christmas present from Jeremy. Her first year of life was my mother’s last year. When we think of major events, she was a part of all of them. We will remember the happiness that Nubu brought so many people that she came into contact with over that time. This last year she took to riding in the kayak and on the scooter like a champ. She brought smiles to people on the city pathways as they saw her in Jeremy’s front-pack on the scooter. We will also remember her ability to communicate clearly what she wanted, she had a bark that sounded just like “mom” when she needed something from me. We will miss her great suggestions of when to go for walks on the most beautiful days. Our hearts feel her loss and we will miss the excitement she had when we came home from work every day. Every Sunday she had a morning date with her dad that involved going on a ride to the grocery store and going into work to check on things. Nubu loved camping, kayaking, walks, car rides, treats, looking out the front window, and barking at the Amazon delivery driver. We hope she is running wild and finding new adventures in the great beyond.
It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nubu. We made the difficult decision to help her cross the rainbow bridge yesterday at 3:30 pm. One staff member at the clinic called her a fighter yesterday and after a hard battle with pulmonary hypertension, Cushing's disease, and a stomach tumor, she finally succumbed to difficulties with her breathing that couldn’t be helped with medication. We can’t say enough good things about the staff at Western Veterinary clinic here in Calgary, they helped us try to extend her life and gave us an additional two months with her. Nubu, you were a good girl and we love you and will miss you.

I have never even met your wee dog Nobu, and am crying the ugly tears here. This was so beautiful. She led a life of bliss with you. Thank you for sharing these memories. This reminds me of how precious every moment with them truly is.
