- The lads at Logie Durno have built up an incredible business over the last several years with the numbers of stock being sold increasing each year.
I went up the road to Logie Durno to give them a hand with their ram shearing!
Thanks to Matthew Seed the contractor for having me up for the day and thanks for the team at Logie Durno for being great hosts.
Hope you enjoy,
Cammy

ABOUT ME
I’m 32 years old and I’m a sheep farmer from Ayrshire in South West Scotland, which is why I have such a strong accent! I was born and raised on a sheep farm watching my dad who was the shepherd.
At 18 I went away from farming to work in the city (something I still do) and at 23 (2013) I decided I wanted to do something for some extra money so I went on a sheep shearing course. The hardest thing I’ll ever do was learning to shear sheep. [shudders thinking about it]
I shore whilst on my holidays from work for 2 years and then in 2015 my dad died so I decided to get my own sheep so I could continue working with sheep as it was something I loved doing. From there it escalated quickly from my first 4 sheep in my mum’s garden to now running around 850 breeding ewes.
I shore over 19,000 sheep this season in the UK and have my own shearing run which lets you see many different farms in the summer months.
A few years ago I bought myself a sheep pregnancy scanner and have been building up my run since then.
I watched a few farm vlogs on CZcams and decided I could have a go and now here we are!
Thanks for watching my videos and please subscribe if you want to see more in future.
Yay! Another Cammy video! Those were some big, beautiful boys! Some of these rams did not look like they appreciated you trying to take their coats for them! 😂 Sorry you got kicked! Thank you for sharing your life & your beautiful part of the world with us!
Thanks!!
Something about you Cammy that just makes me smile 😊
Great vlog
Thanks Lisa! Very kind!
Agree!
With how much of a butt kicking that sheep was giving you I'm really impressed there was no injuries to the sheep! Rams wiggling like crazy and no blood in sight!
I know you are a great shearer, but it always impresses me!
Very impressive farm!
Imported a Charollais ram from logie 5 years ago, massive sheep!
Brilliant!
A boy Cammy another good video 👍.
1000 rams wow that's unreal.
Numbers are mind blowing!! Wow! For that first tup Cammy you need an extra stone of weight on you!!😂 short but sweet, thanks Cammy!!👍🏻🐑❤
Yeah they have me on weight and strength 🤣
Wow such a beautiful farm, the sheep look amazing. Great shearing as ever. 👍👍👍🥰
hi Cammy it's great to see how far you're shearing has come on in the last couple of seasons. every sheep shore to competition standard. David Fagan said many years ago if you are rough in the sheds you will revert back to your shed shearing when you get under pressure in a final. Big Wallace Boyd will tell you there is nothing nicer than looking into a field of well shoren sheep
Aye Wallace keeps me honest at the shows for sure 😁. Thanks Jim!
Your always a bright spot in my day when I get notification of a video from you and I get to watch it. You are such a wonderful person and I can see how much you love your wife and family. I also love how you banter around with the people you are working with.
Thanks Pamela!
That is some operation there cammy. It would be a good vlog just having a look round that place!
Yeah i’ll go back for the sale in August David 😁
@@TheSheepGame and it would be great if you brought your drone, you ken. 🤣❤
That is a serious operation on that farm, visited them a few years ago and 3 sound men who are savages to work and the two boys are fond of a bit of craic, the top breeders of charollais in the UK, we have had sheep from them in the last twenty years.
Yeah they are able men!
The two boys are great men to use a dentist chair
Great video Cammy! Thanks for the look at Gregors farm.
Great video! You will all be ready to sleep tonight after a day of shearing those big boys. Thank you for the share
Watching shearing is so amazing! And I Love getting to see other farmers' farms! It's great getting to see all the different sheep, set-ups, farms, etc. Plus all the beautiful places you've shared with us! Thanks for always putting a smile on my face! 🙂🐑🐏
That was incredible, thanks for sharing such a wonderful farm, all sheep looked so healthy.
7:44 Looks like that Suffolk was eyein you up… It’s so clear to see how challenging Tupsare if they’re difficult for you. Thanks for the video!
I went back to check and you are right, he was giving Cammy the stare.
My dad's people came from Northumberland to Canada and eventually some came to Montana USA. Funny thing we were all in sheep! If you wonder about the statue in front of the Montana state capital, his name was Thomas Meagher, a big-hearted Irishman who shook things up in Montana. Thanks for sharing your sheep shearing.
My day’s been made - a new video from Cammy! That one ram was trying to kick the snot out of you! Are rams much more difficult to shear than ewes as a rule?
In principle yes mainly because they tend to be much heavier and physically stronger than ewes and they can and will fight you to not behave as you would want. It's damned hard work and a real physical struggle!!
Yeah just like Dan says. The weight and strength makes it harder. They often have bit of an alpha male attitude problem too 🤣… so do a lot of shearers right enough🤣
Thanks Cammy...Love to the family from Perth😁✨
Very large job. I hope you have an excellent year
Great to see the shearing and listening to a very committed Scottish farmer…..I know you were busy at the R.H.S. but is there any more vlogs to come …wished I could have been there , but work at the weekends
No blogs from highland but more from other shows 😁
@@TheSheepGame Sad face 🤪
Lovely farm & great to see their business doing really well. Strength and weight in these rams is no joke. Nae wonder you're knackered & lose so much weight during shearing season! Thanks Cammy & I love hearing about the farms you visit. 👍
I am mesmerized by the sheering. I am amazed at how you manage to do it so effortlessly.
Love yu show bro, your a great talent, and a very hard worker, best of luck brother, great team
Very nice looking rams ,very lively. I honestly don't know how you do it ,my back hurt just watching x
I love the sheep handler in the background of your intro!
It’s a great wee edit the animation guy did!
I love how you all give each other a hard time, makes me smile 😊
Wow Cammy that's a serious operation
That's a proper sheep farm
Could you do a full video of there operation there it would be very interesting
I’m going back to make a video of the sale so that should be good 😁
That’s the stuff of nightmares! Impressive stuff, I dread to think how sore you would be after that!
That’s a huge operation! How many rams did you do? I didn’t see the shearing counter on this one.
Forgot about the counter!! I did 191! 👍
@@TheSheepGame that's some going!
Wow! So many beautiful rams! Shearing looks like highly technical & physical work! Thanks for discussing all the varieties of sheep!
On another note, are the jumpers/sweatshirts like the one you are wearing in part of this video-with the red stripe at the bottom-for sale? Would love to see long sleeve T-Shirts??…😊😁
Thanks again for another great video!
Thanks! Yeah we’ll have some more in stock in a couple weeks time hopefully! I’ll add ling sleeve tshirts to the merch ideas list😁
Yay!! Thank you!!
Great video Cammy great looking rams they have top class 👌
Shearing is one of them professions where humans will surely outlast any machines/robots trying to take over.
You guys rock 😎
Shearing robots / handling machines research funded by the Australian Woolgrowers association has been in the works since the late 80s. However there were complaints that it was a threat to the livelihood of people who do the shearing now it ends up getting mothballed.
@@nyotauhura7412 I’ve never seen a successful machine tho.
Nobody cares about livelihood- if a machine could shear as well as a person, without harm to the livestock, AND being profitable...people would be replaced in a hot minute.
There may be machines out there but none that meet that criteria to make it worthwhile.
They've been trying to make a viable machine to fold clothes for a long long time. The shearers are safe enough
Great video Cammy thanks 👍 crazy money it's good to see what's happening out there thanks.
I appreciate how easy you are with the rams business. That’s the money maker ✌️😂 love from Hot and Humid Alabama USA.
Thank you for the video. It was very interesting to see another type of operation. And hey, free food AND beer in August? Wow!
Can’t wait 😁
God stuff cam keep up the great work
Wow, that’s a lot of sheep! Tell Lizzie and Joch hello.
Thank you!
I Hope you had your porridge, or at least 3 Weetabix before you got stuck into these boys Cammy? As there were a few there that didn't seem to appreciate your tender touch. 😂👍
Scared to eat too much incase it came back up!
@@TheSheepGame 🤣
It’s been a bit, glad to be able to check in with our beloved sheep farming family.
Looking wonderful Cammy! Those are big beauties! ❤️🇦🇺🏴
Those animals are huge! Great video.
Interesting the race system for the sheep prior to shearing Do you have any of them jumping out at you. Some of those rams were looking like they were ready to jump out.
Good to see New Zealand mentioned and Prattley yards, another NZ invention.
I don’t think any of these lads jumped out. It’s quite a high sided trailer with a stepped floor so that helps!
Great another vid from Cammy missed ur vids hopefully more coming soon x jock is gorgeous x
Oh what a lovely video! That was a great jab at the end! 😂😂😂
😜 thanks Bob!
Just dropping a comment to help a good guy out .best of luck with your endeavors
Thanks Akista!
MIA Paperplanes choice clipping tune, bangers all day nea doubt!
Excellent . Great stock
Cammy we need to see you shearing sheep with a set of hand shears
🤣 too boring for TV.
Bunch of Beautifully Buzzed Bachelor Boys
I’m no longer a bachelor i’m afraid 💁🏼♀️😜
Wow, hard Work!! great Job as Always!🤗
Thanks for the vlog.
Great to see you again, you have been missing in action
Only just noticed the new intro- nice detail. Great video, some farm that.
Thanks Dave!
Hi Cammy, looks a lot harder day shearing the rams. Big old units.
After that absolute roasting... damn!
Im in the USA. I wonder why I can understand what Gregor is saying a LOT easier than I can understand Cammy?
I’m from a rough part of Scotland 🤣
I have not done many, but the Texel, being short and stout seem harder to shear. Those weren't real heavy rams, but I know that a few of those would have done me in!
Not the heaviest rams but full of vigour =D
Oh Cammie, they’re wild near Bennachie.
Gregor was not wearing a sheep game shirt, ya missed an opportunity there Cammy, but whilst ya got the clippers out have ya seen GP's hairdo lately.
He’s stolen my curly hair look🤣
@@TheSheepGame 😆😆😆🤣🤣🤣
Those buggers were BIG!!!
I bet you look forward to doing 1000 rams each year, you definitely earn your money there.
Cammy where can you buy the shearing smocks ? Ive been on the merch site and non on there ?
Oh my back🙈There’s gotta be a better way to do that😎
Textel sheep are so ugly and uncooperative by such great meat sheep! I guess you have to decide what’s important to you. I still like my BFL/LL lambs. To market at 18 weeks at 70kg and locally we’re now getting $6.80/lb live weight. I noticed those boys have tiny scrotums! I think if my sheep had that small equipment I wouldn’t be able to sell to local breeders. Thanks for another good video! Nothing better than to come in from tending sheep all day and watching sheeping in the evening!
The rams were huge.
He was too funny!
I shore only 8 Rams two weeks ago and it was way tougher. Partly because they're way bigger and stronger than ewes, partly because of my skill 😂
This was a good video
That's a lot of rams! What do they do with the ewes?
They clearly sell quite a few of those too, and I assume they also keep some for breeding.
Yeah they sell a lot of ewes as gimmers and also need a lot of replacements for their own flock
Does anyone know if there is a big difference between the normal shear Combes and the elite ones in terms of cutting ease?
If I had to guess, show combs are probably made to be very good for a few sheep at a time, whereas “regular” combs are made to stay decent for as long as possible.
Not just sure what u mean by elite combs?
@@TheSheepGame the finer combs
@6:18 Ooooo! Uh oh Cammy!🙀CZcams and M.I.A are gonna send you a nasty letter!
Just kidding, I truly hope they don’t. Copyright laws are ridiculous anyway…
Aye I ken Ken but diye ken Ken's quine?
Nae, I've not met her yet. 🤣
But I DO ken Ken.
A ken fine🤣
Aye, but putting yer shoes on - d'ye ken fit fit fits fit fit?
WHAT?….That can’t possibly be English you’re speaking 🤣 (🇺🇸 here)
Ya ken it’s used in Northumberland.(?) This is both a question and fact.
👍👍😁
Since he has no cows I would love to know if his sheep get foot issues.
He’ll say no anyway 🤣. That’s what i would say🙈😁
This might be a silly question from a city boy but why is there room for one sheep to walk _past_ the last door on the shearing trailer?
So other sheep are tempted to go up the trailer
@@tonywalsh8704 That makes sense, thank you :)
😍
👍🐨
Wouldn't like to pay the the sheares on that farm at £3 a tip
But u would have 1000 rams to sell🤣
I appreciate how the last video was you winning a shearing competition then this one is you being made fun of for how you shear.
🤣 i must have has a lucky day last time 🤣
He said he's selling commercial rams... Is that for breeding, not for meat? 💖🌞🌵😷
All for breeding 😁
Cammy do they ever bite??
No not really, u get the odd nibble when they get a taste of ur sweat and like the salt in it🤣
@@TheSheepGame 😂 thanks for answering
They don’t really have any top teeth at the front.
Is this Inverurie way?
More Aberdeen way👍
@@TheSheepGame Depends on your point of view - from Ayrshire it might be Aberdeen way - but from Aberdeen it's out past Inverurie. I used to live about half a mile up the road.
You should sell one for charity.
What is a "top"?
Tup - scottish for Ram. Male sheep.
That’s it. A ram. We call them ‘tups’ 😁
Hence ‘Tupping time’. Time to put the rams in the paddock with the ewes.
I don't know any real farmers that have time to have social media accounts let alone do & edit CZcams videos! They work too hard at all times of day & night!
Put down a lot of korean and world's stock. And then d'ont raise it up~~!! It's right~!! 🐢......,,
Just more sheep shearing. Plain old shearing…
A thousand rams. Why?
To sell 👍
Hi cammy, i sent the Picture To your email of Us at scotsheep😂 Before your Hair cut!!
I’ll get into my emails tomorrow and get back to u😁
I don’t own a farm and I don’t own sheep🥲But when I get up in the morning see a new video I always rush to make a coffee first to sit back and relax and enjoy the show. So good my husband thinks I’m nuts😂😂
🤣 thanks Michelle!
