So.. long story short his sorcery/powers is where he should shine? Agreed
Green portal should be a regular move, not an enhanced one.
One bar tentacle grab.
Add a new red portal that appears on opponent and negates kameo use.
To balance: only 2 portals at a time.
Maybe higher health and a faster charge on his B2.
He's still my favorite character from the KP.

As a fellow Quan player I think really only think a few changes should be made should be made. 1.) Reduce the meter cost for the low-toung grab/bounce. 2.) add a stun duration to Bone Cage just like the enhanced version. 3.) Increase the duration of the Bone Cage's stun duration. 4.) Combine the Zone of Fear with the Zone of Enhancment creating a zone that pushes opponents away and enhances your ranged attacks if they pass through the zone. I think just these four changes would make him much more "DOable" in a fight. They could combine the two zones and make the normal purple zone the same way it is, but on enhance it adds the zone of fear effect. Then he still has the Zone of Waisting for the armor gimic. Also, this way your not having the mental stack of worrying about three zones only two.
The low tongue grab will never be 1 bar unless they double the scaling and make it a mid

How many other characters have morte than one 1 bar or less combo starter? Havik, Ermac, Peacmaker, Homelander, Kitana, Scorpion ec... They all have at least 2 or more combo starters that require zero or one bar of meter. Quan just has 2, 4 that's it and he has to use that in two other attempts to try and combo. Quan's ranged attacks do do that much damage really and most the time without portals it's imposible to zone for more that 25% or the round. So, it's only fair I think.
@@necromancer0616 different characters have different tools and playstyles. If Quan was to be a rushdown character, then he would have normal pokes and normal launchers. They need to make his other tools stronger and give him more viable tools that help him zone.

You can 35% with Quan x Scorpion kameo. And I think around 37% with brainless Sareena.
I have trouble memorizing attacks, so i usually have to rely on sight reading attacks to determine how i should be blocking. This makes characters like quan chi and ermac (mostly ermac tbh) a nightmare for me since most of their attacks are magic and shit. Im sure this isnt a problem at the higher level, but i thought it was worth pointing out
If his b32 didn't have a gap and his tentacle was 1 bar he'd be so much better

I maintain that the reason for his bad buttons and low health pool was to avoid a Robocop situation, where a character designed to win from full screen was also obnoxiously good up close. Frankly, I dislike zoners, but at the same time, why bother with them if you want to intentionally make them bad? (That question is not directed at you, it's directed at NRS)
Oddly, your idea about the bone dome buffs sort of already exists, at least on hit: high hit advantage giving time for further setup. It's just on block where it underwhelms. Even then that's EX only, meterless also underwhelms, best case you convince your opponent to jump and hit them with s3.
Tentacle: they seem to think it guaranteeing the same hit advantage no matter the gravity scaling warrants 2 bars, don't know why. Can maybe close out a round at best, waste of meter at worst.

One interesting thing I found is F2 connects with ex DB1. Only thing is it has to be and the very edge of F2 range. I love playing as Quan, even if he not one of the better characters.
Quan be MIXING my shit😭 I say the low health ,slower attacks and gaps in strings hurt him but that mix and setup game is something fierce..just look at Broseph Roethor and Shujinky during the last couple tournaments
Stand 4 into bone cage into that overhead skull into whatever = great pressure, damage and chip
Quan and Janet are the best imo. using the janet mime block and then using green portal after thats done. the amount of stuff u can set up is crazy lol. u can even loop it i bet.
Yeah i use her to im getting 35 no meter she gives me good damage with quan

Well said. Ive definitely don't think hes the worst character in the game for me that honestly goes to havik but i think similar to other characters his game plan is so easily counterd by how mk1 plays that he just feels really bad. Katana and shang would be in a similar boat but they get insane damage of there zoning so its a bit more rewarding to play but yeah in game that favors rush down and has a large amount of skip neutral tools the premiere zoner is going to feel really bad.
Yet people still bitch about projectiles
@@terry.1428 yup lol. It doesn't matter how easy it is to beat, zoning is the ultimate scrub killer because scrubs don't use training mode.
Lower health is fine , hes like a mage far away zoning character so his health should be lower but they need to buff his zoning then

I love playing quan but any character can put pressure on him and the game is over for him I just feel they made him bad on purpose and why does it take 2 bars of meter to launch for a combo other characters can do that for 1 bar
the 2 bar launcher makes no sense compared to all the other 2 bar moves dumbest shit ever for a character that already relies so much on resources

The poke system is so crucial in MK I kinda agree with Sonic, Quan has its share of strenghts but its not enough to paliate his terrible pokes and strings.
the reason the damage is so low is because the chip u can end up w from zoning pressure after the combo. even with that being said his main launcher being 2 bars is ridiculous for a character that relies soly on resources
Quan is fine imo. He's only as good as the player.
The other low tier characters have a lot more damage though like natara havik gears they all do 40 50 easy

I don’t know if he’s the worst, but he’s probably low tier. It’s interesting because I actually think he has some good MUs against top tiers like Sindel, Reiko, and even Peacemaker.
Quan is a joke. Sonicfox is just being nice putting him in the lowest tier. Quan belongs in the trash pile in his current state.
1) Quan needs is 1000hp
2) Quan need 1 bar tentacle grab
3) Better frame on one of his down buttons -7 would be perfect.
4) Increase his combo damage
I've had much success with JC again Quan, especially with Sub-zero Kameo where his ice shield almost completely neutralizes Quan's zoning. Still wouldn't consider him the worst character in the roster, Quan can be tricky with those portals
JC is great against the whole roster. Six of the top 8 in Final Kombat used JC

I think Nitara and HaviK are far worse than Quan! I started out maining him, but have since switched to Reiko! I love playing him but it’s very hard to win matches with him especially against a top tier character. I was a Kano main In MK11 and Reiko seems to feel more like him to me! Love Quan Chi tho and still play him daily!
It's just a definite fact at this point that NRS needs to buff Quan. People paid extra money for this character. At least Quan has the coolest looking combos in the game.

Quan is the best at what he does (zoning), but in the worse playstyle that this game has (rush down)

Quan is NOT the worst character. He is just difficult to master. You can't be a brain dead player and use Quan. The green portal can keep opponents at a distance or keep them in the corner. The field of bones (bone cage) can let Quan get even more setups.
He's a cheater period. Unlike peacemaker, some of those specials are hard to cancel
I definitely think sub is worse than quan. Simply because he doesn't have a playstyle or overall win condition you're working toward he doesn't really do anything
