It’s pretty much because Sdsu isn’t centered around football and she didn’t get into Greek life (well she did but she didn’t want to join any of the smaller sororites). Nothing to do with the school, for some reason she didn’t rly look up the social scene or what San Diego even is before committing.

Aw Macy I'm so bummed you're leaving. I 'm an alumnus and loved watching all of your campus video and seeing you hang around the city. Feeling more connected to the school absolutely gets better once you're out of the first couple of years because that's when your class size starts really dwindling down and you actually start forming relationships with professors which is so great. But I know from watching your videos that you really desperately wanted somewhere with a school spirit and I CAN agree that SDSU doesn't have loads of that. There's definitely pride in our basketball team but that's really about it. I'm really happy to see how excited you are though for this move to Texas and I of course wish you all the best there! It's been a blast having you here in San Diego

I transferred universities after my freshman year as well! I’m also at a Christian university in California! It was a little hard jumping in as a sophomore but being a first-time student tbh, because it felt like everyone already had their established friend groups. BUT - if this is also your case, don’t get discouraged! Transferring was the best decision of my life and now as I’m finishing up my second semester, I’ve found incredible friends who challenge me spiritually. For anyone thinking about going to SDSU- It seems like it’s a huge Greek life school when you’re a freshman living on campus since that’s all anyone ever talks about for the first semester. It seems very superficial right off the bat since everyone goes in with the mentality that it’s a party school and you need to be in Greek life to have fun. The hype usually dies down by the second semester since a bunch of ppl don’t make it into Greek life (obviously) so that’s when you really start to settle into your friend groups. Once I moved off campus and found a place with normal ppl my age I ended up having a lot more fun. It takes a while to find your group but you will eventually. Also, make friends with the commuter students. They’re the ones who know SD the best and also tend to be more down to earth than the kids who chose SDSU cuz they think it’s a party school (in my opinion). I graduated last year and found a job in SD and my closest friends right now were commuter students at SDSU.

literally so true. I really thought I needed to be in a sorority first semester. Totally died down. Most people dont even participate after sophomore year. The whole party school thing is dying very quickly with greek life getting shut down though

This video is so important!!! I'm from Georgia and came to SDSU so I could travel and be out of my comfort zone. I fell in love with the city and views but not really the school. Just like Macy my first semester was not good and one of my tight friends transferred but I stayed bc of ~peer pressure~ from people at sdsu, thoughts that i'd be considered a failure, and people back home saying I wouldn't make it out here. So, here I am going to state everyday wishing I could as well be in Texas (lol i love texas and never met a texan I don't like). Im going to be in my third year next semester and I feel its too late to transfer due to application periods and transferring credits. But yes sdsu is so whack and they are hiding things. Everything you've said Macy is soooo spot on in this video and all your others about sdsu. Keep running after your happiness

I went to Sacramento State last fall as a Freshman. I was 3 hours away from home & hated the school so much. Literally LEFT my FIRST WEEK!! Did community college back home and transferred to FRESNO PACIFIC UNIVERSITY, a Christian uni in Fresno Ca, in Jan 2019 for spring semester. best decision I’ve ever made!! I think you going to San Diego partially because of the location is why some high schoolers need help applying to colleges. You can't just apply to a college for the location because in the end you won't enjoy your classes even if you end up loving the city (or hating it). Hope everything works out for you at TCU! I'm transferring to a four year college this summer after I get my associates (I go to a community college) and I toured my college and fell in love with it. I knew how the people were and the academics (for the most part) and I enjoy most of my classes even if they are generals (except for college algebra and my bio lab).

  • @emilyemiranda
    @emilyemiranda Před 5 lety +1

I've been watching your vlogs off and on, because I'm born and raised San Diego County and love seeing the city through others' eyes, and I resonate with this video so much. My freshman year, I moved out of state to go to a small school in Montana. I did it because they were the only school in the COUNTRY that offered the major I wanted, and I felt like it was worth it. Turns out, it was not. I was miserable, I was so homesick, I was SO sad the entire year. I was a shell of myself, and nobody there even knew it because they didn't know who I was before. It was the hardest year of my life, and yet deciding to transfer was also an extremely hard decision. I felt like I was giving up on a dream, like I was being childish, like I wasn't strong enough. I had made some incredible friends (who remain my friends to this day) and had some good adventures, but eventually did decide to leave. I, too, spent my spring break exploring what would become my new campus (Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego) and fell in love. It was the only school I applied to for transfer and I got accepted, and my last three years there (I graduated last May) changed my life. What I'm saying is that deciding to transfer IS a very personal decision, you are so right. It is not easy, but you come first. Don't worry about how it makes you look, or what others may think. You are going to THRIVE at TCU. You are going to LOVE the smaller population, it makes a world of difference. I hardly know you (duh) but this is going to be good for you, and I'm excited for vlogs in a new place come fall. Congratulations!

Good luck to you. TCU looks like a nice school. It is very pretty. Can't wait to see how it goes in Texas for you. Sorry SDSU wasn't the school for you. Sometimes we need to do what's best for us. Thanks for sharing.

SDSU is definitely a business. But so is every other college/university in this country with perhaps the exception of Berea College (KY) and College of the Ozarks (MO)... and maybe a handful of others. Good for you for hanging in at State for the full year. God bless you as you move on.

Don’t worry Macy. We still gonna be subscribed. It’ll be fun bc now you can teach us about a new school we had no idea about. Transferring can be mixed emotions so best of luck to you!

I’m really lucky that I’m not already in college and thinking about transferring but I totally see why you’re doing this because I made a similar choice. I was considering SDSU a lot mostly due to a long distance relationship I’m in. As April arrived, I realized that I really didn’t want to go there, regardless of what happened with my relationship. The campus was nice but the tour guide lady was boring and most people on campus seemed like they didn’t really want to be there. I visited Colorado State University Ft. Collins during their admitted student day and although I didn’t get to see some things like students walking around campus, I fell in love with it. They made everyone who visited the college of natural resources do a really fun and hard scavenger hunt, so it didn’t even feel like a college at all. CSU also has SO MANY unique majors that I’m interested in, like Watershed Science. Their website is super helpful and even though they’re big, I haven’t felt like a number at all. They honored my dorm change request when I called housing, so now I’m in the BEST dorm I could’ve ever wished to be in. I’m so glad that I decided not to leave Colorado because I have so many things going for me at CSU.

Choosing a college (honestly, deciding to go to college in the first place) is a really hard decision!!! I’m so glad you found your place!!! (Also OU is in my home state and i love it but OU is super overwhelming for me but if your brother loves it, DO IT!! Oklahoma is a great place to be if you want a family feel, but Texas is good too ig 😂)

Macy you should follow your dreams and I agree with you that if you are not happy you should change something. I subscribe you because of San Diego State but I will watch your videos nothing will change. You are an amazing girl, who make great videos to have fun. I wish you all the best. I hope I will have a chance to come to USA and see you personally. I am from Georgia and I am studying in San Diego State University Georgia. Love u

Macy, thank you so much for talking about the truth of why you didn’t appreciate San Diego state as much as you wanted to. I’m a senior in high school and I was looking into sdsu and made myself believe that it was the right school for me. But I knew that I only wanted to go there just because it’s in California and I wasn’t thinking about going for the right reasons. I got deferred from my dream school originally so I thought that sdsu was my only other option. But after getting in, I realized that it wasn’t practical for me to go to sdsu. Watching your videos helped me realize that sdsu isn’t what I wanted my college experience to be like. I still love it there and it breaks my heart that I’m deciding not to go anymore but I know it’s the right decision and I’m more than grateful to be attending the school that I know is perfect for me.

That is amazing that you choose to change you path and go after what you wanted. I had similar dreams of going to school out of state to go to school to be a nurse. I never left California but I realized that nursing is not for me by staying and I don't know if I would have figured that out if I left. I am now an Applied Mathematics major and I am so happy.

I go to SDSU too and I kinda feel the same way. The Texas schools looks really 👍 and way bigger and “airy” than SDSU. At least you got to go to SDSU for one year to have no regrets in your decision! But pls spill the tea!!

Hey Macy, my name is Josiah; I am a freshman of SDSU. I am sorry SDSU has not given you the experience you wish you wanted, but I am glad you enjoyed the beautiful weather down here. I totally agree that TCU is a great school, and it seems that private Christian colleges are very welcoming and secure. As much as I wish you could stay here in SDSU, I wish you the best experience in TCU. I actually wished I was in another school instead of SDSU, and I being in SDSU have had some unsatisfactory moments. We will miss you, and your tears really matter; but remember to keep that passion of whatever you have in you.

I went to CSULB or long Beach state due to it being affordable. The university was 20 minutes from my parents house and I was able to live with my parents to save money. I was paying for my own school. It is good that you were able to transfer. Dallas fort worth area is a nice location to live.

I’ve been watching your videos the last few months (and im late to subscibing because i usually watch on my smart tv😂). Ive loved watching your SDSU videos ever since I found your account. Im even more excited to see you going to TCU because not many CZcams personalities go to small private universities. I myself am going to a private school in Ohio next year that has roughly 3000 enrolled students. You’ve been relatable even going to a big university but now youre even more relatable going to a smaller university. Thank you for sharing your experience with this college journey❤️
