As I clean out a closet, I'll gather the empty containers for organizing and put them in my "store" . When items are sorted, de-cluttered and organized, I "shop" in my "store" for containers to store the items. This costs nothing and uses what I already have.
I use dollar tree plastic bins with handles on to keep things organized in my frig. When I clean my refrigerator, I never find wrinkled moldy peppers that were shoved to the back or things I didn't know I had. Plus keeping things in bins makes it easy to pull out and see what you have. I have one for just cheese and one for salad greens and fixings. Also if you wrap your celery in aluminum foil it lasts twice as long
And wrap your carrots in paper (or non-paper) towels, placing them in a closed box (i.e. with a lid). Wipe down the inside of the lid every couple of days. The carrots will last for much longer... and you can repurpose the paper towels afterwards.
Please repeat top about going on line for blank calendar(2) on line address? Thanks
Thanks so much for this solution to keeping some produce fresh... It's upsetting when produce gets limpy in the fridge before I can use it and I despise waste.
I use the plastic baskets from mushrooms and strawberries all over the house.
Also, you can repurpose one of those little double clothes hangers that sometimes come with a baby outfit. I use one in my kitchen to hold all my oven gloves. It's on a pretty vintage hook on the wall next to the oven.
I use a selection of pretty, small square tiles as multi-purpose trivets. They were designed as ceramic mug rugs, but I keep a row of them next to the toaster oven to hold a spoon I'm using to stir a soup or stew.
And don't throw out any rubber bands that come your way. Use them (2 at a time) to suspend bars of hand soap on a dish (preferably rectangular). The soap lasts much longer. The bands will eventually need to be replaced, but they usually last for many months.
Thank you. Please do a declutter video.
I’m a basket queen as well! Always use them as “drawers” for all open shelving
I normally mark my bottles on when i open them up to see how long they last. I got this idea from Hope and larry..at under the median....😊
Top of my list for January…declutter (on going project, never done) and reorganize.
Enjoyed the video! One idea I recently saw for the shower caddy is a first aid station. Put jar of alcohol, different sizes of bandages, some gauze, tweezers, etc. into the little compartments. I like this to make on and off shelf pull easy. It could probably be handy to hurry where little hurts occur too. 🤕
I am new to your channel I've seen 2 videos & am hooked... I would enjoy your ideas on decluttering
I made both of my grandchildren stuffed animal hammocks made from old lace curtains. All of their stuffies live off of the floor now. 😊
Very good ideas. Love to watch decluttering and organizing videos.
I use my memo app. on the phone for all kinds of lists: vacation planning/budget, Costco, groceries. My monthly budget. My recipes I want to try. Things I need to buy/need.
Thank you for the wonderful tips. I just bought a vintage hatbox to collect small scraps of fabric.
Oh, that sounds wonderful! It can be a beautiful display piece, but also secretly a storage place.
Genius idea with soda tabs.
The closet, can tab idea is great!!
I use thick rubber bands or any rubber bands to open jars, if it’s really stuck I can use one on the jar and one on the lid
New subscriber here. I’ve only seen two videos, but loving what I’m saying so far can’t wait to binge watch all of them.
I also use the Cannes tabs on my hangers, and I am a crafter, so I like to use them also on the back of pictures to have a hanger for them, it works great!
Tiffany, thank you for sharing the picture hanging idea! That's great 🤗
Omg I'm a crafter and never thought of that! I dont buy soda but next extended family party/picnic I'm going to go around swiping them all. Lol
Okay Jennife,r the soda can box thing is genius!!!!
Oh the soda can top idea 🤓 wow, so awesome! Thank you for the ideas!
My "hobby" is to find all kinds and sizes of containers on the curb or super cheaply from thrift stores / garage sales, and organize all kinds of stuff in them. I also use containers as gift baskets / containers that end up being useful for the recipient 🙂
I use macaroon/cookie/chocolate divider trays to sort earrings
Try using tge thinner velvet grip hangers for more space
I just subscribed, great info and not all the fluff…. Thank you!
When you're over the door shoe holders get holes in the bottoms of the plastic compartments, they make excellent holders for vertical herb gardens, small veggies, etc. Just add a few pebbles or rocks in the bottom, fill with dirt, and plant your seeds. These can be hung vertically on a fence, garage, wall, etc.
I really like this video! Been trying to get on top of my home so Ill enjoy the time at home with my kids 😅
Hey Jennifer, there's some great ideas here 😀 I especially love the shoe rack tip as my shoes constantly fall off of any rack I put them on 🤣 I'm wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas & all the best for 2024! See you next year ❤️🎄☃️
Bex, thank you so much for all of your support throughout the year ❤️ Merry Christmas to you and your family 🤗
Great ideas! I love the monthly printout of the calendar for meal planning!
Another great video! This year has gone by so fast...I can't believe next Sunday is Christmas Eve! MERRY CHRISTMAS
Thank you so much, Linda! Merry Christmas to you and your family ❤️ Thank you for all of your support this year! Hugs 🤗
Love this so much! Thank you tons. Constantly get so much out of your videos. Enormously appreciate it.xoxoxo ask
Great tips. As I planned out my gardens, I used a shoe organizer to sort my seeds. 2023 seed ordering went faster. Photo storage is were they are organized (a libarary cardex cabinet works for a larger supply).
Great Information. Thanks for sharing
One thing I noticed is that I own wall art that doesn't make its way up onto walls. I took one and prop it in front of TV (its about 4 feet wide by 3 feet tall. Yes you have to move it to use the tv, but we rarely do. We still have it for when we want it but it isnt always beckoning...and we are enjoying the artwork that was just accumulating dust.
I just love your videos there always so full of great tips and great imformation thank you for all the work you put into them have a very merry Christmas 🎄🎁
Beatrice, thank you so much! Merry Christmas to you and your family 🤗
I use/reuse the plastic containers that had veggies of some kind from the grocery store...use them to organize my fridge...no heater-shelter!
I need to try the kitchen towel folding
Happy to see your video again! Can you pls do a video on organizing. Thank you!
Yes pls do a Declutter video!!
Yes, declutter video, tnx
I think I’m going to get more serious about the Marie Kondo vertical folding method now. Lol.
@@crybebebunny Yeah. I was thinking particularly with things like lounge wear and pajamas. Maybe just see how I like the “vertical” approach. Since I’ve decluttered so much, it almost doesn’t matter prob. But I wound up buying these cheap drawer sorter things that have the vertical slots in them for such a thing. I’m going to just see how it goes I guess. Never know until you try. 😬
My local Aldi's gets the bulk of their supplies in on Tuesdays so Tuesday afternoons are great for picking up their shelving display boxes. They give these to customers for free. I look for the boxes that are sturdily built and not too big. The ones for candy bars, face soaps, and home goods are my favorites because of their shapes and sizes. I use them as drawer separators and shelf displays for my crafts room and kitchen. PEACE
I use the Marie Kondo folding in my suitcase. It's easy to get out the item I want without digging through the whole stack of clothes!
Love you Jennifer. Been watching you for a while now, your videos are always a pleasure. Have a Merry Christmas :)
Soda tabs make great hangers for picture frames & i use them as plate hangers also, id recommended cleaning the plate with rubbing alcohol 1st & hot glue to attach the tab. my mom taught me this yrs ago & we've never broken a plate yet & i have them above doors that we use multiple times a day.
Great video Jennifer! I'm the total opposite of you- not an organized person, but I want to do better. I love your ideas and I've got a ton of pull tabs that my grandson's school collects for the Ronald McDonald House. I'm going to use a few to try the hanger idea today!
When my husband was drinking canned soda, we also saved the tabs for the Ronald McDonald House. He now has a monthly soda membership to a local gas station that costs less than in one 12 pack. Honestly, with the soaring cost of soda, I don't know anyone who still drinks canned soda, but I am going to look into it because the tab idea seems like a great space saver. Thank you
Blackboard in my kitchen. When we need grocery items they go on the blackboard & when we go shopping we take a photo of the list.
It is also good to tick off my 5 cats names when we give them their flea & worming treatment. I write their names on the individual packs too.
I fill the kettle ready to switch on & set out my tea tray for the morning. Cat bowls ready to be filled.
I meal prep several different types of meals & peel vegetables the day/night before.
When travelling I write a list of what I need & tick off when put in the suitcase. I keep the list in the case but photograph it in case I lose it. Tells me what to bring home so they are not forgotten.
I photograph passports & bank cards & bank loss phone number just in case.
Binder for cleaning schedule. Daily weekly monthly yearly.
Binder for garden. What to plant & where & when bulbs have been planted. I have a separate binder for seeds which I categorise I believe it was a cd holder binder that originally slotted into an open case but I now use that separately to hold my harvested seeds in small empty herb/spice containers.
Box or binder for a selection of cards, Birthday, celebration, anniversary , get well, thank you & thinking of you & RIP cards. Christmas cards I keep with decorations.
Inventory lists for pantry & freezer & drinks (alcohol) & cleaning products & toiletries.
I like the tiered rolling can rack that has dividers. You can see items at a glance what you have & what is low.
Acrylic rolling trays for canned drinks on shelves.
Acrylic containers for fridge & freezer to divide foods.
Shoe size opaque plastic boxes with lids to put small kitchen gadgets in. Label & stack on top of each other.
Keep like with like. You will remember where you put items.
Someone needs to have her own CZcams. I would watch. I have found that creating list help me get more done.
@@mslaughter8171 Thank you. Tried & tested after many mistakes. I do it mainly because I’m lazy & don’t have to remember. I hate going over the same thing & a lot of these are automatic once set up. The lady who mentioned masking tape (& sharpie) to label everything is spot on. I do that with meal prep & left overs all the time. I have a label machine for more permanent stuff but the masking tape is immediate. Another tip is use a box or washing up bowl to gather items left in the wrong place & clean, then sort out where they should go. Speeds up cleaning time. Put stuff that belongs upstairs on the stairs & take up something as you go up & put it away straight away. I use my notes in my phone to jot stuff down like errands, shopping extras if I’m not near the blackboard & then send it to my what’s app along with the photo of the blackboard. You could also number the areas you need to so you travel in an order rather than go back & forth. To save money on food in the U.K. check prices on Trolly, supermarket comparison site. Decide what foods you want to eat before you shop & meal prep when you return but check out the yellow sticker reduced foods to see if they can be frozen, if you have room in the freezer. I automatically buy basic dairy, milk, eggs, cheese, butter cream, salad veg, root veg for stew & green veg, cabbage & proteins chicken, bacon, sausages, lamb mince, red meat & fish. Breads. This covers all the meals I cook. I check if my pantry needs restocking, oils, herbs etc. Look on Pinterest for meal prep ideas it will help your budget & keep you on track if you choose healthier options. Another way to save money is never be influenced by an influencer! When you want to buy an item, put it on the back burner for a week. You may change your mind & find something in your home that would work just as well. Use strong cleaned food containers as dividers in drawers. My knickers for example are folded Marie Kondo style in a large chicken thigh plastic container! You can use different sizes for different items in different areas. I leave you with one more tip. When you buy a new kitchen gadget, air fryer, washing machine etc put the paperwork in a plastic sleeve in a folder marked Kichen Equipment. Saves so much time when you need info! Hope all this helps!
I finally got my pantry, storage closet all done. When I cleaned out products & canned food I was shocked at how many items I had to throw away because of being outdated. I gave some that weren't to the food pantry. Now I only keep 2 cans of what I use so this doesn't happen again. Also, I use a black marker to write the exp month/yr on the front of the label before I put it into the cupboard. I can just look in now & see all the exp dates & never have to throw out anything. All the labels are facing forward too so I can see what I have. I also finally bought a set of 24 square spice jars from Amazon. I have the spices in alphabetical order & enjoy cooking a lot more knowing I don't have to dig around. I can just go & get what I want. When I want to give myself a boost to keep doing the rest of the rooms, I look into the pantry cupboard and then realize the rest will look this good soon!!!
I save mushroom plastic boxes to store stuff
I sometimes use the bottom of the plastic bin from my salad greens to sit potentially messy things in under my sinks. Just as a surface to keep the cabinet clean.
All of the above-use veggie trays in my fruit/veggie buns in the refrigerator. Keeps things neat and easily cleaned. I also use clamshell plastic containers to keep small bottles of medicines, vitamins and toiletries in the bathroom linen closet.
I too use the plastic boxes food items come in, they are small enough to fit into drawers and hold small amounts of an item . I use the plastic containers that vitamins come in to keep hair slides, clips, elastics in they are then placed in a pretty basket on my dresser. Everything is easy to quickly find. I too have open shelves in my bathroom so I love the ideas of storing toiletries in baskets instead just on the shelf. I will be hunting for baskets that fit the space in the new year.
I loved this video I use at least one of the tops already. I have a shoe rack that I purchased from Walmart that I love and purchased For me and my daughter to help us both be organized
Soda sounds so much better than how we say in Canada “pop”
I would love a decluttering video
Thank you
Amazing
I bulk cook and then use the recycled margarine container for storage in freezer. I just use a piece of tape stuck on the container and label them
😅I use a dollar tree pop up mesh hamper to store my flip flops I have many
Have a system or a plan. Ex. when I buy something I look at the container for uses beyond its original purpose. I am creative but living in a smallish place with no real built in storage I've come up with repurposing my cats kitty litter boxes. I clean them out then cut off a panel so I can use the handle to pull them off a shelf. They are similar to a magazine file but more durable than store bought new cardboard ones. They can hold supplies for a project, packets, parts to equipment you use regularly, nearly anything. When looked at the panel with the handle is clean, solid color but the sides have printing/pictures you could cover with contact paper, kraft paper or fabric to help them blend in better. The board is very stiff so a very sharp pair of scissors is needed. Tape the edge if you like to reinforce it. The handle gives you a uniform place to hang a tag in case you want to lable it. This uses vertical space which seems to always need to be used. I will have an endless supply until we find a different source for our cats needs so supply will likely keep up with my needs, too.
Thanks so much for this video. I am especially excited about the information about meal planning. I have had several health issues and I have needed to change my diet completely. My dietitian recommended meal planning, and I've been trying to decide the best way to compile the information, and keep it together. I will be following your ideas. New subscriber. Thank you. 😊
@@THEJENNIFERCOOK I'm sure it will. This was just the information I needed to help me know how to get started.
Please do a decluttering video
those "soda" tabs come on lots of other cans too, dog food, pineapple, even the soup cans you showed, etc
I randomly own one of those 3 drawer plastic things which is one of those ugly but functional items. It started out holding plastic bottles of paints, glues, and other art tools/supplies. Now, (after a good cleaning) it holds t-shirts, tanks and shorts: all folded a la Ms Kondo. Holds an adequate supply but not too many so keeps new purchases in check. Keeps me doing the one new one in, one old one out routine. When drawer gets difficult to open, reconsider the contents or find a new storage location!
IKEA do a metal drawer storage on castors. I removed the castors to fit & its ideal for kitchen cleaning stuff. I also used the large plastic spice jars once empty to hold my cut down magic erasers, brillos, steel scouters etc.
Hello, this is the second video that I have watched of yours and I am loving it! My biggest issue is DUSTING. I have neglected dusting for a while and it is really BAD now. My curtains are dusty, everything is dusty. We live in Arizona so dust is a natural hazard!! Any suggestions how to get started to get back on track? I am so behind!! Thank you!
Declutterring please
ikea sells those shoe organizers to help you stack them heel to toe
My tip for the day is to only buy furniture that doubles as storage. 🙂🥹 👩🏽
Try using a piece of masking tape to mark the date when you open up a food item or for leftovers. No more trying to remember how long it's been in the frig or cupboard. Dried beans are so much cheaper than canned, and you can control the sodium. If you soak them in water overnight, they cook much more quickly. especially if you use a pressure cooker.
I like painters tape to do this. Get at dollar tree. Easy to get on and off. Use in the freezer too
@@alhood3great idea I didn’t know dollar tree carried it thanks for that great tip .
Also in my experience canned beans just aren’t as tasty. I also like to get some beans frozen. Not as cheap, but still very tasty.
And don’t forget to write the date on your makeup! Masking or painter’s tape works wonders for that. No more guessing how old that mascara is! I also do this on shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, do I can track how long these lasts!
We have a white board on the refridgerator. I list the day of the week with the food leftover from dinner that night. Everyone can easily see what their options are and which leftovers should be eaten soonest. Once they finish something they simply wipe it off with their finger.
