Cameras are all so good now, the “negatives” are usually just ridiculous whining, or the reviewer didn’t bother to learn how to use the camera/feature. This channel is a prime example.
Enter the brand ambassador, they actually know how to use the camera you bought, and devote their content to you getting the most out of it. I don’t see a problem. I’ve never seen a video by a brand ambassador where they lie, or disparage other brands, or even aggressively try to sell you something. Got to disagree regarding your comments on Robin Wong. Yes he used to be an Olympus ambassador so of course you'd expect a positive spin on their products but I always felt Robin gave well considered balanced reviews. The fact that he remains to this day primarily an Olympus shooter despite splitting from OM Digital should tell you he does and always has believed in the Olympus brand. He could so easily have switched brands after parting with OM just to spite them. He didn't and that proves to me his feelings toward Olympus were genuine and sincere. Given Robins enthusiasm for all things Olympus and his overall passion for photography I feel OM Digital made a huge error treating Robin they way they apparently did.

I watched his video about why he won't be buying the OM-1. For him it is not a needed or wanted upgrade. But for others it is. Your average working photographer is just shooting group photos, portraits or weddings they don't really need a great gear. Nothing advanced at all. 99% of their job can be done well with some ancient DSLR like Nikon D1. From my experience most of them just keep using old gear and are nothing like youtubers, who get to play with lots of new gear and perhaps buy a lot of it. Disagree with the view on Robin Wong. He is/was one of the few ambassadors that generally gave pros/cons and his recommended use cases for gear he reviewed. There are many others in the m43 world that just praise gear and sometimes mislead. Look for all the m43 ambassadors that initially endorsed the view that the OM1 has 2 stops improvement over the EM1 iii. There was one popular m43 reviewer of Pergear equipment that gave an endorsement of their 2x Macro lens with no proper testing and no consideration of what is important to different types of Macro photographers; my comment on his video was removed. So I agree with your point but think Robin Wong is a bad example to justify it ... there are so many other easier targets.

Dear sir. I do enjoy your channel quite a bit. I have a Nikon Z6 and I miss the telephoto reach of aps-c. I don't do wildlife photography as much anymore, but like to go out occasionally (so my telephoto budget is reduced). I have an older Nikon 300mm ED f4.5 manual focus lens which produces better images than my 200-500mm ever did. I'm thinking of a Z fc or maybe something unNikon? Most of my lenses are adapted Leica M mount lenses anyway. A full articulating LCD, good colors, uncompromising low light performance (ha), decent shutter speed are all ideal. I would use a fast wide autofocus lens, but most shooting will be manual focus lens use. You got me hooked on wildlife video - thank you.

I've watched almost none of B&H's camera review videos, even though I do all my gear shopping there. Just from the launch event videos I have seen, I know that all I'm going to hear are very positive comments with nothing critical. They use brand ambassadors or their own staff, nobody objective.
Now, if Canon were to send me (hypothetically) an R7 in advance for review, I can guarantee you will get the full, unvarnished truth about it. So Canon, feel free to get in touch if you would like to test that theory. Not that I'm begging you or anything. But, it would be nice.

Some brand ambassadors are so good at their craft that the brand/model of their gear hardly matters. E.g., Joe McNally (Nikon). He seldom talks about, much less review, gears. Vanessa Joy (Canon) has recurring videos re: cheap camera challenges.
Tech sites (The Verge, Engadget, etc.) also make bad camera reviews. They are not full time videographers or photographers but opine as if they were.

Here is what you missed: People who buy an item for themself and then go on to tell you that its the best thing out there (even though they have no comparison). Like, they buy a monitor - they make a monitor review. They buy a mouse - they make a mouse review. They buy a car - they make a car review. Their channel is just full of "reviews" of random items they bought for themselves. They're often extremely biased because of course they made the perfect decision, they couldn't possibly have made a bad choice. Confirmation bias. They might still tell you about something that's wrong with it and that could be useful but often they just tell you its the BEST.
What you want is an opinion of somebody who tests a LOT of items from that category (like cameras) and who has enough experience and comparison.
I trust you by now because literally everything you have said about cameras I had or have now couldn't be more accurate (like A6600 or XT4). I like that you point out these little annoyances that you often only really get to if you actually use the camera for a while and don't just walk through the city once for an embargo-timed video review.

If you watch some of these channels it becomes laughable, every time someone comes out with a new camera, they are selling all their gear (to the sponsor and you should sell your gear there too) so they can then switch to the new brand X camera.

Canon eosR have just one SD but they say, no worry you can have a backup on your smartphone. First you can't use usb so by forcing you WiFi you kill the battery on phone and camera to move way slower. Then you forced to have any Apple phone cause if you got any Android phone you only get JPGs as backup, raw are Apple exclusive.
Then no one says clear that the 5d with same sensor and Magic Lantern is way better for video, everyone talks about clog 12 bit on eosR but you need the atmos ninja to get less quality the 5d could do saving on the CF card.
Not much people on CZcams have to balls to say it. Apple exclusivity I think it's a wonderfull new feature for costumers... I do not understand why people does not make clear it's a selling point. There's more Canon r cameras that do that but they have more cards slots.

I really have to disagree with you on this one. So much so, I have it the Compleat opposite of you.
I would rather trust a camerastore review or a video from an ambassador, than most other youtubers, simple because they do not have to focus on the "negatives" to make headlines or sell their video channel.
There are fundamentally three wrong assumptions in the CZcams camera reviewing industri that needs to go away.
All derives from the youtubers subjective feel for what he / she is doing.
The first is: Not everything has to be compared to everything.
The second one is: Just because something does not behave the way you want it to behave, does not mean the product is flawed.
Third one out: What the youtuber think is right or wrong, relates to all other people.
Not every car is as fast as a Bugatti, but just because another car is not as a fast as a Bugatti, does not mean it is a bad car or even a bad sportscar. Stop compering everything to everything just to be able to say; this car is the fastest, so the other car is slow. If you are comparing two cars and one goes 450km/t and the other 350 km/t does not mean the second car is a slow car. It is still freaking bloody fast. Fast enough for most people.
I dont get this obsession with finding flaw in every photo equipment product review. What is the purpose?
Just tell what the camera or lens can do and let it be up to the viewer to decide if it is good enough.
About Robin Wong. I really like his videos. He uses his camera and knows how to use them, and he gives that information on to the viewers.
It is sort of what this channel does too. Just in a weird way.
Bottom line is. I will rather hear a positive review of a products features than a negative review of a features the product doesn't have.

I have watched so many videos about AF that it makes my head spin, even for photography. I have used AF + eye detect with my X-T3 for shooting portraits with some model movement and it works great. Also shot some volleyball with AF-C with good results. But, all of the situations had movement pretty much within the same plane. Here I am asking the videographer questions about photography.... 🙂 As for your thoughts here. Yup!! I watch lots of channels for information and fun. Seems like some of the best are Canadian. But, if someone really is looking to buy a device they need to first make a list of what they want from the camera. Then, watch vids to see what meets those criteria. Otherwise you'll be watching videos forever! Have a great weekend.
