What happens if you do everything shown, but nothing happens besides me pulling the cord out, then it retracting?

The threads are stripped on my crankshaft. Can I use a 10mm die to rethread them or should I just buy a new OEM crankcase?

If a cord is inserted with the piston at the bottom of its travel, it is possible that the cord may exit through the exhaust port and a piece may be cut off and remain in engine when the piston rises under spanner tension. Therefore I think I'm going to inserting cord with piston near TDC, if I don't invest in a piston locking tool.

why does the piston need to be in the down position when performing this repair?

Got to the point where I use a 10mm socket, then 💥💥💥the NUT starts WEARING away under my socket, this thing is on so tight! Anti-clockwise, and it's like lead! AAARRRGGGHHHH!!!
Now I have a worn nut and I STILL haven't got it off to put the new one on! 😭😭😭
...Moments later .... SHEEEEET - the NUT is moulded in with the Pawl, and not a separate Nut. Now I realise my mistake. DOH!!!
    🤦‍♂🤦🤦‍♀
