    Nice to see the little venturi piece is still in the airbox. A lot of GTAs have lost them over the years of servicing due to lazy mechanics not putting them back in when changing the air filter. It actually makes a real difference in the cars performance, Alfa wouldn't have put it there for no reason.

    Ah the good old 156 airbox.
    So many people came up with different ways to repair them.
    Some drilled out and epoxyed nutserts some used self tappers.
    I was tempted to buy a CDA but saw the price.

    Hi there, fantastic as always! I went through the massive hassle of repairing the airbox lid. The epoxies were marginal for a while, engine movement broke out the studs I glued in after a month or two. tried combinations of silicone, super glue, bumper repair filler(best bonding but not strong enough. Eventually I heated up bolts and melted them in with
    some extra filler rod with a soldering iron. Then I rough sanded the plastic with 40 grit flooring sandpaper until 'hairs' of plastic were appearing, wiped down with IPA religiously every step and finally fibreglassed two thin layers of polystyrene resin and matt over for some strength. worked a charm.

    • @ArmySigs
      @ArmySigs Před 2 lety +1

      Good job Dieter. A lot of people put solid carbon pipes from their TB to the airbox in pictures I see and it always makes me wonder how long their airbox lasted before engine movement ripped the lid off :)

    How much torque can the epoxy and putty take, very useful tip if it can stand being tightened. The white paint would be lush

    • @ItaliaAutos
      @ItaliaAutos  Před 2 lety +2

      As you can see in the video I all went together nicely. But to be honest I wouldn't over tighten the bolts.

      @@ItaliaAutos thanks, I had heard it suggested as an air intake upgrade, but it seemed unlikely to work, which is why I asked. Also, I suspect the extra air coming in wouldn't play well with the stock ECU settings.
