She had such beauty, inside and out. In her autobiography she said that what saved her from jumping off the ledge was "vanity." She "didn't want to look like a scrambled egg." I think it was courage and love for her family that stopped her. Oleg Cassini cannot have realized how repellent some of his remarks were, like when he told his father-in-law "She's my wife now, and she'll do what I tell her," or the excuses he made for his philandering. Her last husband was the one who truly loved her.
Strangely enough Mr. Lee seemed like the kind of man her father would have approved of way back when she was a deb. A solid business man who knew from down to earth (Oil!) work. No flash, glam or desire to be in the public eye.
Gene Tierney seemed like such a FRAGILE woman. From her father, the man she truly LOOKED UP TO, to marrying CADS, to trying to give her mentally challenged daughter some kind of life!!!! Then FINALLY finding a TRUE MAN that would care for her the way that she needed to be care for. Rest in Heavenly Peace Ms. Tierney. I hope to meet you one day.
For those who have wondered what became of Daria, there is a sweet obit online written by her younger sister. Daria passed away at the age of 67 in 2010. Given her health conditions, her living to 67 is a testament to the good care she received at the institution where she lived.
Daria should have been raised by her Mother and not conveniently put away in a institution. That is what drove Gene into depression. Gene needed Jesus, He is the only source of Salvation to everyone. There is no other way. He is a God of Grace and I hope Gene found Him.
Such talent, enigma, and beauty, (internal and external) , Gene Tierney should and will be remembered as one of Hollywood's greatest. I hope that this amazing woman found peace in her passing on.
A true beauty. Class and dignity. Hard working and kind. It takes guts to tell the world that you may have problems and then push your way thru them. Good for her. The actors of today need to take note. A true star! She will always be that and more.
Genes daughter Daria died 19 years after Genes own death 6/11/91, I have not been able to find out where or how Daria spent those years but I like to think her remaining family would have loved her enough to take an interest in her well being.Genes Life and loves would make one hell of a Movie in the right hands.
What a story, she's one of my top favorite actresses. At least she had that happy peaceful period later in life with Howard Lee. I love her for the beautiful legacy of films she left us.
I started with Hedy lamarr and ended up here watching this amazing story...the mind controls everything and when it goes we go too....stunning natural beauty..with a willingness to please all around her...
She was talented and exquisitely beautiful but perhaps too fragile to survive the rigors of being a major movie star. The horror of unknowingly being infected with rubella by a woman whose first priority was shaking Gene's hand (and who stupidly broke quarantine in order to do so, thus infecting Gene and her firstborn) is difficult to comprehend. That alone would be enough to drive a strong person into depression. Rest in peace, dear Gene.
Yes she showed what a lady should be like, some of the young women today make me cringe, some don't get the respect from men because of how they are , I think
It is so sad how the kind-hearted become unevenly yoked to the ones who want them only for their own selfish reasons. Oh if only life could be fair and give the those who 'wish upon a star' the the kind of love they seek rather than unhappiness frought from the complexities of the ego, I think in the end, Gener was in life, searching for the kind of love she and Rex Harrisson had in the 'Ghost in Mrs. Muir.' . What a beautiful woman. Her heart and memory lives on as an inspiration to us all
This is so accurate. I was a movie buff since 5 years old. Gene, had an ethereal quality about her that resonated through male and female. Could it be called class? Perhaps. She did have insurmountable stress with acting, even though she enjoyed it. The tragedy she lived through with her Daria, is one that I also lived through. I too, had EST after giving my baby to the care of professionals. But Gene's eyes had allowed her to project her pain in tender ways, and also in hate. Her soul was seeking for the one person who could love her just for herself. Not beauty, and not the tremendous acting ability.
Thank you so very much for sharing . I love and always will , The Golden Years Of Hollywood... I remember reading a interview in Vanity Fair Magazine a few years ago that Her daughter Christina gave. Her sister Daria was still alive. She would go see her. .Gene Tierney so very Beautiful. And though fragile she was so brave about having mental illness. Once again thank you.
I have so many fond memories of watching Gene Tierney movies with my father in the '60's. He thought she was simply lovely and never missed seeing her or Jeannie Craine in reruns, so I grew to love their performances, too. Thanks for uploading this wonderful biography.

Thanks for the upload. I think Gene is the most beautiful woman I‘ve ever seen. How could anyone bear such an amount of tragedy? Enough to break anyone imo.

Laura is one of the most breathtaking movies I have ever seen. Agatha Christie’s mystery The Mirror Cracked is based on Gene Tierney’s heartbreak over her first child.
IF SHE HAD A CRYSTAL BALL , IT MAY HAVE TOLD HER TO RETIRE AT 30 , BUT THAT WASN'T HER DESTINY ! NEVER-THE-LESS SHE WAS ONE OF THE GREATEST STARS ! WITH A FLAWLESS LIST OF CREDITS !

Gene's younger daughter, Christina, who was interviewed in this program, passed away in April of 2015, after battling ovarian cancer for years. Christina had spent years fighting for her rightful inheritance from her father Oleg Cassini's estate, but her nasty stepmother did everything in her power to deny Christina her inheritance, even claiming that Christina was not Oleg's daughter (which is ridiculous because she looked just like him). Tina had a tough life, married at 18 to a very abusive man. She did leave the marriage but was left with four children to raise. Now Gene is with her girls again.

Yes I was thinking the same thing that she was overworked ... that she pushed herself into some kind of severe nervous exhaustion ... yes very sad for her and her first daughter . I'm glad Gene Tierney found somebody to love her for those 20-something years and that he gave her security ... it's a shame he died before she did though .
Unlike most actresses of this era. She was a natural beauty. Barbra stanwyick Joan Crawford Liz Taylor Strong! GENE IS VULNERABLE. but we admire her for her loveliness. Her Poise and her endurance. I would of folded when my dad had blown all my earnings....
I've seen a number of Gene Tierney movies but I don't think I've seen that one but saw the remake of it when I was a kid . If it's here on the tube I might check it out .
She made a lot of great movie. Laura, Leave her to Heaven, Where the sidewalk ends are my personal favorites. They never said what her mental illness was.
I can understand exactly how you feel when I was a young kid I remember watching the Ghost and Mrs. Muir and being capitivated by Gene even then, Gene was then and still is the most beautyful of the hollywood actress's.
Even though she struggled mentally I say she was a very strong person-I think the betrayal and hypocracy of her father would have devestated anyone. If her condition were recognised for what it was and in a different time she could have been treated correctly. But she did find love and happiness and a loving daughter-which is more than some can say.
People are lost for words I guess,I know I am, when it comes to Gene, in the closing stills of this documentary it is still possible to see even as old age does approach, the beauty in Genes eyes and smile, ''and the clock ticks'' tick tock tick tock from the kitchen wall, where time the leveller claims us all.How brave. How beautiful. How tragic. How loving. How else could you describe the almost indescribable.......
It's a very sad end to such a wonderful beginning. It's harrowing about her daughter's, Being cheated out of their inheritance by an unscrupulous stepmother. I don't know how she can live with herself especially when Christina was fighting cancer. Heartless and evil.😬😢
I think her life was sad in some ways but I wonder how sad Daria’s life was?? Did her Mother or her father come visit her? Did she ever know love from family or was she dropped off and forgotten??? I can’t find anything about her except where she was taken and when she died. She is the TRUE SAD story. God bless her!
Hedy was married to Howard Lee,who later married Gene, there are some very interesting connections in Genes life. Gene dated Ali Khan who was married to her friend Rita Hayworth, Gene dated J.F,Kennedy whom Oleg Cassini later went on to be his wife Jackie's clothes and fashion designer.
Oleg Cassini completely let his ego destroy his marriage to Gene...any decent and quality man today would be absolutely thrilled to have the honor and devotion of a woman like Gene. Try finding a woman today of Gene's class and family allegiance..they're scarce....Oleg blew it..at a time when the 'men' were 'men' and the women were 'women' he had it all and flushed it due to his ego while all Gene wanted was the love we all dream of having and sadly, only late in life, did she find it.
@@Bebbolove wow that's crazy that she chose Kennedy over Tyrone Power . But I saw a documentary about Tyrone Power and he was married several times and they made it appear as if he was not above having affairs ... maybe as much as she wanted him maybe she realized that it would never work out . ... although I don't know how she could have thought it would work out with Kennedy , either .
@SatineCharm Thank you for your wonderful post. Ms. Tierney was a marvelous lady and artist inside and out. She got above her tragedies. One feels good that her last years were peaceful.
Even in those advanced years@ 1:47 Genes beauty still shines from within, the light is still in those eyes, Gene faced those demons and that took great courage. How barbarick those EST'S were.
Well I have read Gene Auto- From Gene understanding and description it was depression something we all may feel to varying degrees in life and something we all react differently to, the medical industry like to pigeon hole illness of the mind and give it all kinds of tags and double barrelled names, a mind can be broken just by living..Half the world suffers the other half cannot understand why..
I wonder what kind of life her daughter, Daria, had? If Ms. Tierney ever visited her, if she socialized, if she was happy. I feel for both Gene Tierney and her little girl.
Yes believe it or not the person in the comment before you brought up the same questions and I replied to them that I had also wanted the exact same things about that poor little girl . I felt so sad for that little angel when I heard all this ... I'm glad that several of us here with thinking of that child
Daria may have been severely and profoundly mentally disabled - being also blind and deaf it appears living in an understanding custodial care home met her needs; better than either of her biological parents were capable of doing with a ‘special needs child.’ A true tragedy.
Then our work is done, for it was Benny, Mondbruder and in a small way myself who first put up the tributes which I am happy to say inspired others to do better and now Gene is remembered proof of this is how the movie industry continually block all use of Gene movies because Genes work is now becoming a profitable earner again
I didn't like oleg's remark "she was the most unlucky, lucky girl. he seems so matter of fact, regarding her illness. you'd think he was discussing the events of the day. thanks for posting the bio. she was an original and a great beauty.
***** No doubt she saw what Grace Kelly saw when she fell madly in love with Casini and wanted to marry him. An affair that went south when the Catholic Kelly family persuaded Grace Kelly not to marry a divorced man. Very like when JFK refused to marry Gene Tierney on the same grounds.
No thanks to Oleg for the way her life turned out. Supreme narcissist, not sorry for anything. Goes to show you what kindness and hard work brings . May she Rest In Peace
I was put off him from the moment he said that she was this beautiful 'thing' that he wanted to 'possess.' Um... HUMAN BEING to be loved and cherished and respected? Ladies, run, don't walk, from any man who thinks of you as a 'thing' to be possessed. There's another man in the program who calls her a 'creature' and 'it.' Talk about objectifying women.
Beautiful woman so sad about her personal life. Rip. I was shocked to read that Oleg who had a fortune left Christina 1 million but was never given to her. Oleg Cassini’s daughter dies in poverty By Richard Johnson April 6, 2015 | 11:07am Modal Trigger But Cassini’s widow, Marianne Nestor Cassini, the executor of the estate, which was probated in Nassau County, NY, refused to pay as Christina battled ovarian cancer.
I am a faithful (and unfortunately experienced) believer in some poor creatures getting more than their fair share of tragedies, relentlessly- one after the other & right before the next- not that you'd ever wish them upon anybody else of course, and it never seems to make sense either... As in, you'd expect maybe killers to get it, but it always seems to be kind people, who only ever try to help others who REALLY get much too much hurled at them (see, no apparent natural weighing scale's to it, or justice, or indeed karma...) However, where I do believe in karma is in the cold, deliberate, ruthlessly cruel actions of that evil wench Marianne Nestor, who very deliberately delayed the administration of her husbands will by almost ten years by hurling so many lawsuits at Christina (Gene and Oleg's daughter) in order to ensure it would be tied up in court until well after Christina (and before her, Daria) died destitute and at premature ages for both of them- Daria, because she was declined the proper care Marianne had been supposed to be providing even before Oleg died, but didn't, so she died miserable and utterly alone, not understanding why, in the dregs of the cheapest free healthcare institute that just leaves you lying in the corner to die, poor poor girl; and Christina because Marianne tied her up in so many lawsuits that she didn't have time to collect her rightful inheritance, use it to provide for her own & Daria's healthcare needs, seek adequate treatment as she was tied up in court more than she could seek treatment, along with stress, heartache and not even getting to spend adequate time with her own family before death.... Even had she given those girls their rightful inheritance, she would STILL HAVE HAD $26MILLION TO SPEND AND ALL OF OLEG'S REAL ESTATE HOLDINGS.... Greedy, horrific, excrement laden filth that she is wanted it ALL... Well, enjoy spending it bitch, because even if you literally sew diamonds into your funeral knickers when you die, they WILL just burn for eternity along with you where you're going dear!! P.S Marianne: pack PLENTY of sunscreen in your coffin, you're going to need it!!... Do you know that she even denied those girls the right to say Goodbye to their Dad?: She didn't even let them know he was in hospital, let alone on his deathbed, she let Christina tramp the streets of New York checking every hospital for him (she finally found d right hospital- 2 hours AFTER her her Dad died), she then had the body removed and it still warm, just so Cristina couldn't even see him one last time, then banned the hospital from telling her where the body had gone, and Christina finally found out where the service was to be held, thanks alone to the fact that a newspaper had found out and she read about it in there.... Ms Nestor, you are indeed truly unworthy of being called a human being, not even an animal since that would be a totally undeserved thing to accuse any animal of being... You are a psychopathic mess of completely rancid cells that make up whatever class of monster you are, and there are demons galore salivating and getting excited in Hell for the day very soon that they can watch you barbeque on a spit for eternity, you soulless, heartless wench... Gene, Daria, Christina and Oleg (and Howard- Hughes and Lee); I hope all you truly beautiful people and kind souls are finally reunited joyfully in heaven as one big happy family, with the best table in the house to sit at and enjoy for eternity what was so cruelly denied of you time and again in life, Rest in Peace. Sent with heartfelt wishes of love and respect. xXx
@@awopbopaloobopawopbamboom5041 I don't know how you found out all this information but I believe every word that you said here . This is beyond heartbreaking and it is so disturbing but I do believe you . My God yeah that's not just greed ... definitely real nasty evil . What a heartless woman to have gone out of her way to be creating so much pain and suffering for those who deserved kindness and gentleness ... I hope they are at peace now .
Born lucky, yes. But if her life proves anything, it's that being bestowed with all the gifts that life can offer is not enough. She was an amazing, intelligent and sensitive woman, too beautiful to escape the harsh glare of the spotlight. The pressures of her career and image collided with emerging feminism in an attempt to crush her. Who can claim with certainty to have handled it more ably? Gene Tierney was a survivor. She has my undying love.

I googled this information and found out only that Daria Cassini passed away on 11 September 2010 in New Jersey, USA. Gene Tierney passed away on 6 November 1991.
Actually, it's because the studios haven't changed all that much over the years: they were greedy, evil bastards who destroyed the great stars like Tierney back in the day and they're still greedy, evil bastards now.

How beautiful. How tragic. How loving. How else could you describe the almost indescribable.......
Love her movies R.I.P 😢❤
Beautiful
One of my favorite actresses...
A lovely women. Well spoken of by all. Kind
You live the life you are dealt, its all anyone can do.
+Franklin NJ Amen to that You cannot say, "why me?" Nobody is special.
It's a very sad end to such a wonderful beginning. It's harrowing about her daughter's, Being cheated out of their inheritance by an unscrupulous stepmother. I don't know how she can live with herself especially when Christina was fighting cancer. Heartless and evil.😬😢
❤️❤️❤️ Gene Tierney!
TY for sharing this with us !
Yes I felt very very sad about poor Daria also ... I also asked myself those same questions you brought up .
Well put! Tierney's life almost makes me believe that curses are real...
Jamie - Curses certainly ARE REAL!!!! The Bible speaks of them.
I do not believe for one minute that Gene was phoning Oleg up all those years later. What a fantasist that man is.
Early on, Cassini resembled Tom Conway: by the end, he'd turned into the aged Burt Reynolds.
Absolutely Beautiful. Bless you Gene ♥️
Fantastic video and the background music sounds nostalgic.💋❤️
Don't tell anyone, but the ending scene in The Ghost And Mrs Muir always makes me fall apart.
Thank you, enjoyed this.
Thanks for posting this interesting biography....
Very like when JFK refused to marry Gene Tierney on the same grounds.
gene was so beautiful and magically gifted. She was so eloquent. I loved her in The Ghost And Mrs. Muir.
❤️ Thank You ❤️
Beautiful woman so sad about her personal life. Rip. I was shocked to read that Oleg who had a fortune left Christina 1 million but was never given to her.
Oleg Cassini’s daughter dies in poverty

But Cassini’s widow, Marianne Nestor Cassini, the executor of the estate, which was probated in Nassau County, NY, refused to pay as Christina battled ovarian cancer.
twilightpurpleglow Unfortunately these stories happen all the time. Greed conquers all in the minds and habits of too many earthlings.
I am a faithful (and unfortunately experienced) believer in some poor creatures getting more than their fair share of tragedies, relentlessly- one after the other & right before the next- not that you'd ever wish them upon anybody else of course, and it never seems to make sense either... As in, you'd expect maybe killers to get it, but it always seems to be kind people, who only ever try to help others who REALLY get much too much hurled at them (see, no apparent natural weighing scale's to it, or justice, or indeed karma...)
However, where I do believe in karma is in the cold, deliberate, ruthlessly cruel actions of that evil wench Marianne Nestor, who very deliberately delayed the administration of her husbands will by almost ten years by hurling so many lawsuits at Christina (Gene and Oleg's daughter) in order to ensure it would be tied up in court until well after Christina (and before her, Daria) died destitute and at premature ages for both of them- Daria, because she was declined the proper care Marianne had been supposed to be providing even before Oleg died, but didn't, so she died miserable and utterly alone, not understanding why, in the dregs of the cheapest free healthcare institute that just leaves you lying in the corner to die, poor poor girl; and Christina because Marianne tied her up in so many lawsuits that she didn't have time to collect her rightful inheritance, use it to provide for her own & Daria's healthcare needs, seek adequate treatment as she was tied up in court more than she could seek treatment, along with stress, heartache and not even getting to spend adequate time with her own family before death....
LAURA is the face in the misty light..... long live the memories of Gene Tierney
Thank you for posting this. Glad I saw it. :o)
Maybe meeting Oleg was the start of, as he say's, unluckiness...Then again maybe not.
So beautiful. I luv her!
In "The Pleasure Seekers", (shown at 0:09), Gene looks much older than a woman of 42-years-old.
I loved her dearly
God, what I'd give to have the beauty in just one of her toe nails.
Jayne Mansfield I'm very fortunate....I have the beauty of one of her toe nails.
What a Beautiful Woman and a Great Actress. Like Laura, Gene like in the Misty Light, Thank You a Million for Your footsteps and Those Eyes what a Familiar, You Share with us, Thanks and it is a Dream come true!!!!!!!!
Lovely Lady
kennedy did everyone.
Surprised that there haven't been any comments on this beautiful woman and icon of the 40's.
I know I'm only 14 years late but there's ALOT of comments here about Gene Tierney now !
Wow she and Rita such beauty and horrible lives.
Ana - You can say that again!!!!
Among all the gorgeous glamourgirls of the 40's like Hedy Lamarr andLana Turner,Gene wasthe only one who could act.Too bad she is so underrated.
thanks ! ;-)
Gene and Ava-- two of Hollywood's lovliest. too bad Hollywood has got to be so nasty.
uhhh vivien leigh?
Ava was beautiful too, but never the actress that Gene was. Imho.
Ava at least was able to enjoy life on her very own terms.
Beyond gorgeous, a real Hollywood goddess!
Only Michelle Philips & Jaclyn Smith come close ....
@2:32: Such a gorgeous lady.
The most beautiful woman EVER!
This made me lose respect for JFK. Seems he used her before moving on.
Yes, he did and he used many others as well, Marylin Monroe included.
At least Ms. Tierney had the class to stay away from him once moved on. Then he became Jackie's problem.
I googled this information and found out only that Daria Cassini passed away on 11 September 2010 in New Jersey, USA. Gene Tierney passed away on 6 November 1991.
I wonder what she was diagnosed with? Fascinating story. What a beauty.
Many great and charismatic women have been frozen in time. Gene, Rita, Marilyn, Grace, Jackie, Jean and more.
Was this by design? Design by whom?
She was Helen of Troy of our age.
So sad- 😭
GREAT UPLOAD BUT PLEASE UPLOAD PART 5 AGAIN IN MP4...THANKS
In her Auto- shes never really clear what her illness was, but I agree with you I think it was schizophrenia.
Actually, it's because the studios haven't changed all that much over the years: they were greedy, evil bastards who destroyed the great stars like Tierney back in the day and they're still greedy, evil bastards now.
