Why is there always someone mentioning some type of competition. In the country of my birth (Cuba) people do not play to be better than anyone else, the tambor is played because we feel this urge so strong since slavery that we have to play, when someone comes towards us while we play, we rather they join us in our celebration of our soul. AfroCubans play from the heart we never put anyone down or out.

I just wish we could hear him playing some Ritmo congas by Matthew Smith or some vintage valjes or Gon Bops - the skins are so much nicer than the thin, tinny sounding heads that LP provides. Ron def. has the chops and the flavor, just would be nice to hear him on some premium skins..

Also he has his own FB page I think and also just view DC Conga players in general the talent in DC on the congas is only bested by the guys in Cuba and P.R. Only Giovanni and GO GO MICKEY have their own signature series LP congas so I am not just making up stuff. Stop reading and experience the DC Conga talent...life changing.

Cubans play our souls we are not interested in showing off, we feel and so we must play, Son, Mambo, Cha cha cha, Rumba, Danzon, Guaracha, Guarapachangeo, Bata, Son montuno, Mozambique, Comparsa,Abakua, Columbia Habanera, Columbia del Puerto, Yambu, Guiro, Guaguanco, there are more, its all about our heritage, our souls and if you can enjoy it with us, we are that much happier for it.
