My dad and I have both called my younger sister out for doing this right in the middle of a serious conversation and she got *super* offended. Simply can't fathom how disrespectful it feels to us.

If they don't, I say, "we can take this up later." THEN they put the phone down. And if they don't I'm less likely to engage them in the future. I'm 63. Old enough to really know that life is, indeed, very short.
