Enemy at the Gates
Summary: In World War II, the fall of Stalingrad will mean the collapse of the whole country. The Germans and Russians are fighting over every block, leaving only ruins behind. The Russian sniper Vassili Zaitsev stalks the Germans, taking them out one by one, thus hurting the morale of the German troops. The political officer Danilov leads him on, publishing his efforts to give his countrymen some hope. But Vassili eventually starts to feel that he can not live up to the expectations on him. He and Danilov fall in love with the same girl, Tanya, a female soldier. You know, when I watched this masterpiece of a movie, the one thing that me and everyone I watched it with said Is that it was missing a robotic voice using choppy English to narrate what was happening for us. Man after seeing this we were all clearly right this made it an instant classic.

So the twist to the scene was that it was safer to be the first guy to jump. The 2nd guy having to go after the 1st drew attention. There wasn't room to jump together.

He was already pointing at the only exit knowing they’re about to make a run for it. So any movement from that angle he’d shoot at. Maybe the exit was where they would’ve played their trick. It just shows one soldier is more experienced than the other. And they should have jumped out with a covering not just a naked jump.

Missed the most important part of that scene ... The first person rarely gets shot because of reaction and that's why the main character was scared, because he was going against another sharpshooter that could shoot the first guy.

No it’s about the one that goes first is spotted and the second one gets shot most of the times so going first means less risk but in this case the German sniper waited for them

General Hummel was a bad ass sniper
The behaviour was odd because they kept sending a soldier to crawl across no-man’s land to repair a broken communication’s line.
They had already killed a few of them - but the last one was moving very slow and it seemed odd.
That’s because the last guy happened to be their friend who was captured and forced to crawl.
☝️That’s what was odd.
Also the scene where they jump across the gap wasn’t planned to jump together.
Since they believed there was no sniper because no one shot at their mock helmet - they believed it was safe to jump.
Vasilis wanted to jump first - but his friend claimed he’s a ‘cheater’ and that it was his turn.
As a cheeky little bit of fun - vasilis jumped with him as a joke.
This saved his life.
Honestly this narrator didn’t even watch this movie based on his narrations 😅

Years ago when i saw this, it thought that kind of reaction time was impossible. But after years of playing FPS shooters, the number of people out there with sub 200 millisecond reactions times leads me to believe that this is possible

Lots of soldiers grew up handling firearms while hunting live and jumpy ass prey, granted this is a movie lots a dudes have real world experience shooting moving targets with a shockingly dead center level of accuracy.
My uncle and I used to decapitate three inch long zoomy ass lizards from about 120 yards out, takes a couple shots to get dialed in and from there it's just leading them.

@@butterss1178 no, theyre actually harder than using an actual gun. Example, when im at the shooting range i dont miss, never. When im playing any FPS game, im lucky if i can tag with 3 bullets from a full mag.
besides, the point was solely about reaction times and in that regard FPS games can actually be used as a metric because it is literally just about the time from seeing your target to when you take action. And some of the fastest reaction times professional FPS players have put down are just ridiculously fast, im talking like near instant.
Actually in the movie they were arguing who could jump first. Because the first one that jumped had the biggest chance to survive, because they thought that the sniper couldn't react that fast. Vasili was in shock that the sniper reacted that fast.
