The fact that the 90's is referred to as "the grunge era" among most metalheads is a shame. True heavy metal was alive and well. Sepultura, Pantera, Cannibal Corpse and Machine Head, among other bands, are proof of that. Never forget it.

I gotta say Kisser's lead playing is underrated - dude's solos are instantly recognizable, wild, yet precise and tasteful all at the same time.
Yes indeed, he still is one of the best. Check out his solo guitar album, really tasty!
Andreas playing Is so on point, and in roots even better since he had to cover for some of the imperfections that Max made with the right guitar during live performances. He was the one carrying the sound of the band during the concerts. and his soloing and tone are definitely an essential part of the classic sound of sepultura.

Yeah for as much as I hate what he ended up doing to sepultura, and how it went down, there's absolutely no denying the immense impact he had on how sepultura sounded. From the second he joined on schizophrenia, there's instantly a shift in feel and composition. As well as in how well he kept the rhythm section thrashing when he wasn't playing solos. The guy was exactly what they needed at that time. Love his unique sound. Phenomenal player.

I think there's something amazing about the Brazilian accent when paired with metal. It's like they were made for each other.

“Mass Hippie Noses” is the most beautiful example. Or “Mass Dripping Noses” as someone in the crowd had misheard, according to a gig review from Metal Hammer at the time.

You can see the Pantera guys watching the set from side stage...Phil is wearing the green sweater with white sleeves, Dime is on one side and Rex on the other.
Iggor Cavalera is freaking awesome. Probably my favorite drummer. Everything about his drumming is great. His drum sound is insanely distinctive, especially his snare sound. It’s so snappy and airy. His drum fills are satisfying. From the complicating ones even to the easy ones. Great style.
Sepultura was way ahead of their time with the heavy breakdowns.

They were a great band but saying this is heaviest of all time material is ridiculous. Even at the time, bands like Suffocation, Bolt Thrower, Morbid Angel and Cannibal Corpse were much heavier.

Chaos A.D. changed my life period!! I was in my teens when it released and was a member of a CD club which randomly picks albums based on your musical preference. I got a package one day and Chaos A.D. was in it. I had never heard of the band Sepultura yet or anything that heavy before. but the artwork was amazing so I put the CD in and I quickly realized I had been sent something special!! I had been a metal fan but up til then had really only listened to bands that were not quite as heavy!! Chaos A.D. was my first glimpse into a more extreme form of Metal and I was hooked instantly!! This album is by far in my top 3 all time favorite metal albums ever since that day!! Thank the metal gods and whoever sent that album in my package that day and most of all thank you Sepultura for creating such a masterpiece of metal music!!

Essa época foi muito foda pro metal, Sepultura de fato era uma das maiores bandas do planeta. Esse "groove" era único. Não é à toa que o Max é idolatrado mundo afora até hoje.
