- Drake Maye possesses all of the physical tools necessary to succeed in the NFL, bur is he good enough to overtake Caleb Williams for the top quarterback spot?
Today, we'll be analyzing the Tarheels' quarterback and looking at both the positives and the negatives of his game that he displays on tape to determine whether or not he is worthy of going first overall.

Hey man I'm gonna need more content. Lol. Great videos, I check my subbed list every day to see if you have a new video out. I appreciate your work!
I appreciate that a lot man! Don't worry, I've got some videos in the works, should be a new drop within a couple of days. If you want to stay up to date with the release dates and get an inside scoop on the productions, DM me @leo_sells on Twitter and I'll send you a link to join the official Fall Ball Discord server!
he's great; as long as not pass rusher is on him. Almost all of his throws he can easily step forward. he struggled big time vs nc state and clemson.
Can’t wait to see this kid in a patriots uniform
As a Commanders fan. He reminds me of……… nvm
When you said "he can put it anywhere" you sounded hella zesty bro hahaha
UNC fans will probably be watching a Lot of Washington games if he goes there with Howell as a backup. Number two pick!
Yeah that'd be quite an interesting scenario!
@@FallBallSports As of right now I'd bet on that, lots can change
If he played another year at UNC he’d be a 2nd rounder
Why do you think that?
I haven’t seen much against good competition that shows me he deserves to be a first rounder besides size, arm strength etc. one more year and his average play would be exposed
So you would have taken Josh Allen in the 2nd? @@antbull0749
He would have been wise to stay in school he's not ready .
If you had Herbert and Allen on separate ends of a spectrum then this dudes dead center
Yep has a lot of physical tools of both of those guys, hope he can clean things up sooner rather than later!
@@FallBallSportsy’all think he’s really in that tier physically?? Not the athlete that Allen is and not as mechanically surgical as Herbert. He feels more like a bigger Darnold in terms of physical traits
@@whambam21 One of the question marks on Herbert coming out of Oregon was his accuracy. He was not known as being "mechanically surgical" in college. Herbert has surprised me though with his accuracy in the NFL. Maye can definitely have the same success. I prefer tall, strong armed QBs. I still believe you have to be able to win from the pocket in the NFL.
@@gregb.6799 Ehh I always saw Herbert as very mechanically driven even though the accuracy wasn’t consistent. Footwork and base were never an issue. Maye running that Carolina offense literally doesn’t even include 5 step drops. Watch him play very closely, he either one steps or sorta drifts around the pocket. I see the framework for a great QB tho. I just think he’s much more in the development stage than what I’ve been hearing about him which is fine too. I prefer the best QBs no matter the style. Caleb Williams does some things better in the pocket than Maye but people ignore that. Maye is better challenging leverage down the field tho. Maye gets way more passes batted and accuracy problems than Caleb. Caleb holds it forever. It’s give or take to me at the top and i think both are worthy. Caleb is just a superior play maker giving him the slight edge in my book
@whambam21 caleb and pocket don't go together my man. He plans on running out of that shit before the play even starts and it's because he can't read shit. Holds it too long because he really doesn't know what the right play is so he manifest some bullshit and just catches the d off guard. Good luck doing that to the best of the best.
He reminds me of Colin Kaepernick Physical, Mobile, Arm talent. Kap likes to hero ball and has a bad field vision
I think Herbert is a good comparison. Although I believe there were more questions about Herbert's game coming out of college, than Maye's. I do believe he has a chance to be a better NFL QB than college QB. I like a QB that can play in a system, rather than one who seems to excel off script like Williams.
That’s your racist bias!!
Herbert is a stallion this kids a gelding 😉
I just watched tape of Jayden. That speed is world-class. Very tempting to take him over the others.
His rushing ability is definitely something to behold -- touched on it a lot in my recent scouting report for him!
Nah. He is qb 3 for sure to me, but Maye and Williams are such high level prospects and way better passers its not really a competition.
@@rthraitorhis play style reminds me of Sam Howell, I am a commanders fan and he picked up bad habits at UNC that he never really got rid of. I like JD better, his speed and underrated arm talent is very intriguing. Caleb Williams is the most complete QB but his leadership is in question and he is a little bit undersized. However, if you want safe, Drake Maye is the guy.
Poor footwork , pocket presence , and struggles in progressions he has some tools but hes raw as sushi .
Michael Penix is the best QB in this class and also the most ready to step in right away and have success at the NFL level
the Penix name keeps making me do a double take.
i agree. reminds me of CJ stroud
I haven't gotten deep into his tape yet but hope to in the very near future!
Penix has a slow release and injury prone. Oh and he can't read a defense
Yeah that would’ve been a fair argument BEFORE the national championship, he looked terrible
Jayden Daniel’s next 🎉
Scouting report for him should be coming out within the next few days, stay tuned!
Hero ball? Thats all Caleb Williams does!!
Bro those are under throws…..
You can't compare Drake to Caleb . Im sorry i see project theres no way i take this guy in the 1st round
Top 3 picks will not pick a QB:
I would bet a lot of money that that isn't the case. I bet at least 2 go in the top 3 personally, not necessarily saying that they should but they will
For Drakes sake I hope the Bears dont take him. Bears can't develop a QB period. They would be better off getting MHJ and leaving these QBs to a better staff.
Don’t wish that on me. I’m a bears fan and I’m praying for Drake maye
@@tomjohns4355You’re not a Bears fan, you’re a Trubisky fan
Totally agree, we also need Oline help and an edge rusher and we’re in the playoffs next year 🍻
Caleb Williams cant throw from the pocket...
He can, but he's so comfortable throwing out of rhythm. It's kinda wild
No lie... All the"negatives" sound an awful lot like what they said about Brett Favre, way back in the day... Honestly, more than a couple of these guys comin out this yr, could be pretty good... I say, Let the kids play. And The Great One's, will reveal themselves. 🔥🏈✌🏻
Better than Williams🤷
Hot take but I can't say it's crazy!
Footwork is atrocious. Can it be coached out of him? That’s why I prefer Caleb
Raiders?
He won't drop to their pick, so they'd have to make quite a deal to trade up for him. Certainly possible though, would be a big upgrade!
@@FallBallSports They should give up 3 first round picks and some second round picks. I think it would be worth it
That would be a huge move, and yeah they NEED to find their franchise guy@@joelsanchez7090
After Caleb there’s quite a drop off.
You nothing about football, highlight film watcher. Drake Maye is the best QB in this draft, Jaden Daniels and Mccarthy are franchise QB's .
Reading defenses is correctable, playing hero ball happens when you are in a horrible situation. It actually is a draftable quality.
Tribusky >> Maye>> Howell 😅
As prospects, I don't hate that at all. Obviously looks worse now knowing what we know with Trubisky tho lol
Maye is the best QN prospect t in this draft
