  • Have you recently purchased an internally routed Coast Dropper Post from PNW Components with the Loam Lever and are in need of some help to install it on your bike? Follow along with the step by step installation video above so you can back to riding as quickly as possible!
Note: As all bike frames are different, we cannot give you accurate directions in regards to routing your dropper post's cable housing. Please follow your manufacturer's guidelines for how to route internal cables.
Installation of a PNW Components Coast Dropper Post and Loam Lever requires the following tools:
    - 5mm, 4mm, and 3mm Allen Wrenches
    - Cable Cutters (MTB specific cable cutters are preferred, but not required)
    - Pliers
    - Torque wrench
    - MTB Shock Pump if adding pressure to your Coast
Disclaimer: Please follow recommended torque specs of PNW Components and your bike's frame manufacturer! Exceeding torque specs can damage your bike, which can in turn lead to injury and even death.

We're stoked to hear that! Thanks for rocking the Loam Dropper and Loam Lever. We'd love to know what you think once you've spent some time on them.

Awesome instructions! I just installed a Rainier 27.2 on my daughter's Giant XTC using them. If it's of help to anyone, I found it easier to route the housing down through the seat tube and then up the down tube as the angle at the BB is less severe (high school geometry did pay off!). #NICA #morekidsonbikes #dobikes

David we're happy to hear that the instructions were helpful and that you found a better way to route your cables!

My cable snapped the other day so I'm trying to replace it right now. I removed the old cable and I'm doing the installation part of this video. The problem is, when inserting the seat post, how do you keep just enough pressure on the cable housing that it doesn't get squished by the seat post, but not too much that the cable becomes unseated from the bottom of the post. You have to pull pretty hard to get my cables to slide through my frame. Whoever invented internal cable routing, I would LOVE to punch them in their face. It's nothing but hassle and easy my least favorite part of my bike.

What kind of housing do you recommend using?

Hi Ric! We recommend Jagwire Cable Housing. PNW Components branded Jagwire Cable Housing can be purchased from our website in the "Parts" category and comes with housing, an inner cable, and cable ends. Cheers!

This guy forgot the cable spacer nut at the end when installing the cable to the end of the seat.

Hi Jamar! This one is up for debate. Some people swear by using the nut at the end of the cable, but we've found that it isn't always necessary. Each of our cable kits comes stocked with the nut that you mentioned in case the customer wants to use it, but the dropper post will still function just as well without it.
