fuecoco's final evolution honestly surprised me (in a good way) but yeah outside of that I was pretty disappointed

I check the Pokemon wiki and it said that the starters are based around different party/holidays:
Meowscarada is based of a masquerade ball or the holiday Mardi Gras.
Skeledirge is based of the Día de Muertos holiday.
Quaquaval is based of the Rio Carnival.
Also, I'm kind of of sad that the grass starter is not a saber-tooth since that grass starters usually looked like prehistoric creatures.

Meowscarade facial features makes it looks like an Iberian Lynx, so if we're basing on prehistoric equivalent then the Issoire Lynx. Which means it kinda still follows that pattern

Not weird at all. The fan prediction art was superior in every way, to the point where I thought they were actual leaks for the longest time and I was so excited lol. Quaxly's final evolution in the fan art even matched the theme of the game better than the official one does. Disappointed.

Skeledirge’s design is so cool, it’s a reference to the symbiotic relationship between some birds and crocodiles where the croc opens its mouth while the bird cleans its teeth and gets a meal.

Pretty disappointed about quaxly’s evolutions. I always go for the water start when I play. The last few water starter evolutions have been much less than perfect.

Honestly this time around the fans out did themselves. I like fuecoco's last evo (it gets the thumbs up to stand next to fan versions, and there is some really good ones out there) but the others oooph...the fans created ones on a whole another level.

I kinda want to be shocked that Sprigatito's evo is bipedal but I can't say I am. We all know by now that GameFreak and TPC knowingly do the exact opposite of what the fanbase wants, so this was to be expected.

Idk why but I really like the little bird on Skeledirge. It's like one of those Egyptian plover birds that clean crocodiles' teeth. I don't really care for the overall design but it's a cute touch. Though I still can't comprehend how it is supposed to be the "singer" pokemon.
It's a goog concept, but it doesn't work at all for a starter. It really has nothing in common with Fuecoco.

In all generations, I always go for mono/dual type teams of water and/or ice, I think in Paldea I will do as in Galar: Choose the water starter, keep it in the box until the end of it days, then start building a team from scratch as soon as possible.

1. Fuecoco- great👍
2. Quaxly- decent but it could have been better
3. Sprigatito- "My Disappointment is Immeasurable and My Day is Ruined"

What I get from this is the Paldean starts are like “kids with big dreams for the future”.
Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly are the young children with big ambitions.
Foragato, Crocalor, and Quaxwell are the teenagers that are in an extracurricular activity that reflects on their niches.
Meowscarada, Skeledirge, and Quaquaval are the successful adults that are now experts at their crafts.

I don't think it's the model, I think it has to do with the shader system they used in this game, for some reason his "mask" and "scarf" look too shiny and plastic like

I was really disapointed with these starter evolutions and they deffinately are the pokemon evolutions of all time but in all honesty... they're starting to grow on me. Slowly but surely.

Given skeledirge is the singer pokemon and its' move torch song, makes me wonder how it would fare with primarina in a singing battle/duet.
Man did I almost die laughing when I saw all of these... it just kept getting so bad and soooo funny
In terms of stats, these Pokémon are on the weaker side fire might be a wall with the hop it has but it’s defenses aren’t up to par with it, only ones I can say might excel is the grass with the speed and decent attack it has being the more balanced and the water with that large attack stat but idk that’s just me
I was excited that my culture was finally being highlighted by these games and they make the starters...this. They even had a fire crocodile, potentially a good design and they dropped the ball. What does a clown even have to do with fire or crocodiles...or even the Spanish/Mezo American culture?

... as a Water Type main... I think the Grass type has the best design as far as first and second evolution. I'll probably stop there because that final one is... god it could have been so much better.

I like the name meowscarada. They could have done so much more with the designs though. That water started was so endearing and evolved into a flamboyant mess.
Sprigatito and Quaxly gets long legs in its final form, I automatically like this.

As I watched Sprigatito stand on its hind legs, I suddenly felt a disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror!
They could have just kicked that design and replace it with one of the fanarts. Please no feminine. Maybe make it grass fairy, strong stats to make poison more relevant.
After seeing this, I’m going to sit this one out

I find it funny the feral pokemon turn anthro when evolving but the already anthro ones turn feral on their final evolution.
NGL, the first time I loook at Sprigatito final evolution, it reminds me of Doronjo from Yatterman..
I judge a Pokémon game off its legendries and its starters. I'll pass on Pokémon until the content sludge pipe sends something better than this. Best part, this is my opinion, if you disagree and like the designs, good for you! I hope anyone that buys this game enjoys it.

Really love the living bird on Fuecoco’s final Evo! I was pretty adamantly Fuecoco the whole promo period, but I actually really love Quaxley’s design too. This is tough…

Same, torn between Skeledirge and Quaquaval. I liked Skeledirge since the beginning, but the body seems weirdly simplistic and bland. Quaquaval grew on me after seeing him ingame and reminds me of a fusion between Sceptile and Blaziken. I’m def using Ceruledge on my team so that’s also making me lean towards picking Quaquaval

In my opinion, I think the whole Fuecoco line looks good, Not a fan of the design of Quaxly's second form or Sprigatito's final form. I’m still gonna pick Sprigatito. Maybe I’ll get used to the final form design.
Edit: actually, Quaxly’s second form is cool, but the legs are too wide for my liking. I’m also not a fan of the feet that the final evolution has.
