Had a blast of a ride! Would highly recommend this adventure to anyone! It’s something you just have to experience for yourself!
    From the Royal Gorge website:
There’s nothing like the true beauty and raw power of being up-close-and-personal with a locomotive. Enjoy the ride of a lifetime upfront with our engineer in the cab, a very special place to take in a one-of-a-kind view of the Royal Gorge. Our engineer will share fascinating facts and history about the Royal Gorge and this historic Route through the Colorado Rockies. Guests remain in the Engineers cab throughout the journey.

This is an awesome train excursion. While short, only about two and a half hours, it is most enjoyable.

Great video, love the sound of the EMD. I watched it twice! I Shazammed the music track, it said Song Song by Arsussy bit it wouldn’t download on CZcams Music or Apple Music for some reason 🤔

My dad ran passenger trains for the B&O. I would ride with him, and one trip had the train back into DC union station. No radios then, a signal line with a flagman standing on the rear platform, an air- hose with a button on the end in his hand. Press the button, and the release of pressure in the signal line would activate a small whistle in the cab of the locomotive. The train about the same length as the one shown in this video. One toot clear. Dad releases the brake and opens the throttle, in reverse. Accelerates to 40 mph. Another single toot, another clear. Two toots, an approach, reduced speed to 25. Another two toots, another approach, now entering a complex of interlocking switches, the train making a twisty path through the cross-overs at 15 mph. Another two toots, dad sets some air, opens the throttle a bit. The locomotive passes the end of the platform, 5mph or so and slowing, Another two toots, pause, then one more. Dad cuts throttle and we stop.
