Ali's 42 and I am 43. He's a Pakistani man and I am an Indian woman. There's nothing common between us except an era - a phenomenon rather that we both grew up in, were part of and witnessed from up close. I regard ours as a very dynamic generation - we spent the first 20 years of our lives without technology completely taking over and the later 20 coping and keeping up at break neck speed with its ever changing facets . For those who are not familiar, ours was the first to brace computers, internet and mobile phones. Won't be an exaggeration, if I say, we have seen the best and worst of both the worlds. Perhaps a reason why I feel we come from a place of gratitude.
I can't really put my finger on the exact reason why I am writing this here but watching this video, seeing the youngsters dance to Ali's music he created a decade back, filled me with a sense of pride and joy, nostalgia as well as melancholy, not only for Ali, but for everyone of my generation. In spite of all the hardships and heartbreaks that all of us must have experienced, trust me, we have all come a long way in life and with immense grace.

I still remember that night. The year was 2011 , I gave my BITS Pilani Exam, I did not perform according to my expectations and I was feeling down. Was listening to some songs and this masterpiece popped up in my playlist. And I was hooked to this song. Such an underrated song. I am glad it finally found it's recognition after this much time. I was first introduced to the Jhoom Album back in Feb 2011 & i felt mesmerized & spellbound by the whole album itself. Me & my mom even used to listen to the songs & vibe on it whenever we went on a trip. My mom used to find the original track Jhoom tad spiritual & divine & we often used said that this album's gonna be big. Cut to 11 years later, I'm so glad that even after 11 years, the song got what was due ! Love you AZ ! Love from India ❤️
