    Thank you Vic! I bought the ZV-1 and I am loving. So thanks for all the videos about the camera, accessories and usage. Fantastic!
    One observation about the latest video. For me the ZV-1 was made to be the best small vlogging camera. I am a Canon guy, but I bought this as a travel camera. While the camera is great, it's not perfect as you pointed out. On the other hand, if you have to add a frame and ND filters to do workarounds, then it's no longer simple and minimalistic. It might be the ultimate vlogging rig, but it's also getting bigger and it's more stuff you need to make it happen... Personally, I am keeping it simple with a selfie stick and the Rode Wireless Go. So good!

    • @VicBarry
      @VicBarry  Před 4 lety +1

      Hey Coach, totally fair point. But it’s very much down to individuals with what they want to do. Do you need an ND Filter, arguably not. For me, I do. The cage for me, while it adds some weight, it fixes a design flaw of the tripod mount plus it adds an extra level of protection for the camera. Do you need all of this, no. Not at all. The Sony ZV1 is perfectly capable without any of this, but the video highlights what you can do, if you want. It’s perfect as a travel camera.

    can u do a the following video test on your zv-1 as it will help us alot :
    1. Overheating test on continuous video recording (both on 4k@30 and 1080p@60 as it will be both overheating and battery life test aswell)
    2. Continuous recording plus charging via powerbank with usb cable.
    3. Low light test & how far can we push the iso (upto usable iso and highest iso)
    4. use it as ur main cam inside ur studio with same lightings & setup & compare it with ur ACTUAL MAIN CAM (as it will help us to figure out how much capable this cam is)
    5. Can we use it as a secondary cam for any video projects (how good is the video quality)
    6. If possible Do a proper comparison vdo with Osmo Pocket (with same lighting & setup inside the studio too & compare the overall video quality)
    hope to see this video soon as no one has done this type of review on ZV-1 ..

  • @BikeTall

    Nice set up Vic! That cage is pretty sweet. Having said that, i am still not convinced that the ZV1 is the perfect vlogging camera. The focal length is still not wide enough for my liking, especially with the stabilization turned on. For that reason, I am still leaning towards the new GoPro Hero 9 as my on the go vlogging rig.

    • @VicBarry
      @VicBarry  Před 3 lety

      Cheers, to be honest, I’d disagree. Focal length that’s in the ZV-1 has been used for vlogging for years, it’s more or less the same lens that was in the likes of the RX100 V - There’s a few alternatives though, a selfie stick will absolutely help and then there’s this wide angle lens which is the best I’ve used czcams.com/video/llrTj4Z0rPs/video.html

      @@VicBarry i hear ya. I guess for my needs the gopro works since I do a lot of outdoor sports & travel. I feel for me personally, a gopro with a dslr set up makes more sense. Gopro for the quick on the go stuff...and a dslr for higher quality stuff at home. So i don’t need an in between point & shoot like the ZV1. But i could see where it totally works for others. I'm wondering if I get the JJ Lens Ring adapter so I can attach an ND or polarizer filter, will I be able to use it with the ZV-1, assuming that the mount for the Ulanzi lens is already attached? There's no way to use the two products at the same time, is there? Or will the mount that comes with the Ulanzi lens also work to hold a filter?

    Thanks for the insightful video. Short & sweet! Does that ND filter make the viewing angle wider? or does it help partially with the croping issue? I have a basic idea of what ND filters do, but I had to ask since this rig makes the camera lens look a lot bigger with the lens adapter attached, plus the filter, etc.

    • @VicBarry
      @VicBarry  Před 4 lety +1

      Hey Marcelo, so the ND Filter won’t make any difference to the viewing angle. What it does do is reduce the amount of light hitting the sensor so you can get a slower shutter speed. Think of an Nd filter like sunglasses for your camera. And it won’t help with the active steady shot crop either. The best thing for that is a selfie stick or mini tripod so you can get more distance between you and the camera or use a gimbal and then turn off the active steady shot.

      Hey Kevin, it all depends on what you’re doing. If it’s all action sports stuff then the GoPro is designed for that. But outside of that the ZV-1 is a better choice I feel. There’s a better, more natural image from it plus it’s incredibly flexible. Don’t get me wrong I love the GoPro 9 it’s great. But for me, personally, I’d stick the ZV-1

    Is there a similar camera to this that does 60fps 4k? I mean one with the same features. I assume it's better to have all 60fps video for editing rather than mixing 30 and 60 right? Though I heard it still apparently works quite well if the project is set to 30fps when doing that.

    • @VicBarry
      @VicBarry  Před 3 lety +2

      At this size and price point, not unless you look at the GoPro 9 or DJI pocket 2. You can easily mix 30p and 60p footage. I mix different frame rates all the time without issue.

      @Spiggle. Před 3 lety

      @@VicBarry If mixing 30p and 60p then the 60p video has to drop frames since it would then be rendered at 30fps, does this not add any stutter? Curious for those who capture game footage along with extra video of themselves, so i guess it's either they use 1080p 60, a more expensive camera to capture 4k 60, or they record themselves at 30fps and also drop frames of recorded game footage or record that also at 30fps.

      6400 has great video quality. Battery life isn't the best and there's no stabilization, so you'd need a gimbal. ZV-1 might be better suited for travel, but the 6400 has the versatility of being able to use different lenses. Figure out what's important and where you're audience are watching. While there is a difference between the ZV-1 and 6400 (sensor size etc.) most people probably won't notice the difference if they're watching on a phone / tablet. Hope that makes sense
