  • A rare look inside the Rhondda Tunnel 👀 The two-mile Victorian coal tunnel links the Rhondda and Afan valleys and was built in 1890 to transport coal. Campaigners now want to re-open the tunnel to make it the longest underground cycle lane in Europe.

    I know this would be an excellent asset and positive event if it could be a public path - but I find it really strange that one of the most buried, out of reach tunnels in the country is being chosen for restoration while there are hundreds of fully extant much easier and cheaper disused tunnels that could be tidied up and re-opened but they lay idle.
