BMW N54 335 direct injection injector testing and DME repair 0030BA watch part 2

  • The car is 335xi twin turbo with direct injection.In the first part of this video i quickly show injector test. talk about index numbers .and how to calibrate direct injection injectors. What you couldn't see in the video was the LED test light flashing. It would flash until i plug in injector. Then would cause all of bank 1 (cyl 1-3) to shut down Unfortunately i ran out of memory before diagnosing the problem inside the engine computer. So i will make a short video on that as well..

    I saw that car at the auction sale. Guys wanted to do an LS swap. This video tells how to fix things the CORRECT way, no BS, no double talk. And why was it running so loud, clacking???

      CORVAIRWILD was runnig on 3 cyls. And direct injection is inherently loud. With sound insulation in place(cover) motor cover on purrs like a kitten

    A piezo injector is High ohmic, you are measuring the resistance in your fingers

    Hi Daniel i Think your multimeter is in the range 200 K ohms, you say 200 ohms BMW dont State that they shout be 200 ohms, your measuring 192 K ohms , in your fingers dont touchdown the probes metal when the measurment is Ongoing

    What did you use to create the wire extensions to test the injectors?

      Just some terminal jumpers i made. You can use any old connector just remove the terminal and a section ofwire

    so if I have a misfire in cylinder 3, can I switch that injector to cylinder 4 to see if it'll misfire in cylinder 4? or is that not a good idea since they're each programmed to each cylinder?

      If you think it is injector.(fuel related) As opposed to spark( coil or plug) or mechanical( low compression bad valve). Then use an omh meter to measure resistance of injector. But you can swap cylinders..as a quick test but injectors will need to coded to their respective cyls. To perform properly.

      @@danielosullivan7623 my friend, can you tell me if it's okay to disconnect the electrical of a single injector and let the motor run? To see if a certain noise is gone. Or will this induce problems with control unit

      @@Simmuh2 check engine light will come on. Just erase after your test

      @@danielosullivan7623 how to erase it, do you mean the light or the failure code? does the light go away when plugin it back in?

      @@Simmuh2 light should go out on its own but it's best to erase it with a simple code reader

    Trying to diagnose 30BB error, Bank 1 works, bank 2 does not, and mosfets test ok. Five injector resistances were between 4 and 30 Megohms, only one was 200k ohms, and this was on the working cylinder bank. I also tried a capacitance meter, and all injectors read around 2.2uf.
    Could it be that the ecu must see at least 200k, on one injector of a bank, or that bank will be turned off?

      you didnt mention what DME you have but yes it could shut off 3 injectors but it should set a code for that

      @@danielosullivan7623 Thanks for the reply. The ecu is MSD80. Today I tried just adding 200k resistors in parallel with each bank B injector, but it had no effect. Still has code 30BB, and bank 2 injectors not working.
      At least I can confirm that one injector, on the working bank 1, did read 200k, and I was not touching the meter probes.
      The other 2 injectors, on working bank 1, have ohm readings in the multiple mega ohms, with ohm readings starting low, and slowly increasing.
      Every once in a while, after clearing the error codes, code 23C3 pops up "Bank 2, O2 before cat not connected". However, it is connected.

      Plugged it into the car after the repair and the DTC 0030BA was no longer active

    how many volt work this injector???

      Should be 12volts. best is to test with a 12v lightbulb of similar amperage and test meter to put a load similar to that of an injector.

    hi i tested my injector it come 1300 it ok

      Depending on your meter if you have it set on miliohms your ok. If my memory is correct I think between 10 - 17 ohms. Try changing your setting to Ohms. If you still get 1300 that's no good
