Today Outlaw Garage are taking a driving lesson in a Messerschmitt KR200. The iconic 3 wheeler Messerschmitt hits the channel along with a Roadster project. We've never driven or even driven in a Messerschmitt before and our first drive is interesting...
Out of all the type of micro and bubble cars this is our absolute favourite.

I had aKR200 as my first car in 1967 great fun . Would do 60 mph flat out , so would keep up with traffic . I used to drop it into 3rd for some bends ,full throttle it would drift the back wheel at 40mph

Wouldn't surprise me if Willi Messerschmitt had a direct hand in designing this thing. That hinged canopy opens and closes just like that on the bf 109.

Yep, Messerschmitt started the company after being banned from making aircraft after the war.

@@OutlawGarage Despite the modest speed, you can see aero lineage of the KR200. It reminds me of the SAAB 92, another early post-war car that was the product of aero engineers.

no design involvement - Messerschmitt company made them on behalf of FMR. The FMR designer Fritz Fend was a WW2 vet and wanted to design a cheap vehicle for vets and their families. Eventually Messerscmitt was allowed to produce planes again and so handed production back over to FMR

Probably a search in Europe. There might be a few for sale in Australia but the best thing would be to join a club or a FB page to find cars for sale 👍

Just as well he hasn't used the jack because it won't fit underneath if the tire's flat and who needs to change a wheel that isn't flat? Still, you can lift the side up and rest it on your knee while you swap wheels. Painful but possible. I never figured out the back wheel.
Getting in: it's possible to slide in without lifting the seat. Experienced drivers always prided themselves in being able to do this just as sports car drivers would leap over the closed door.
