    Just a good, down to earth video. Love it. I have a 97 2wd 4.3 auto long bed. 3.08 gears are LONG. I was considering a 3.73 non g80 locker axle from the junkyard, but I might go ahead and get a g80 model and see how long the locker lasts. If it goes bad, I'd swap in a standard spartan locker. I'd also get 4" wider track width so I wouldn't need my wheel spacers. It also gives me disk brakes and sway bar mounts. As of right now, I'm waiting for surgery on my finger after a bad break, so it's going to wait a while 🥲

    I can also tell it's an 82 Because the points coming out of the fuel and spedo gauges. My late father bought a brand new S-10 Tahoe in your color blue with the molding and it was painted white on the bottom with the Chevy rally wheels. It was a 5 speed manual - realy nice truck. He paid $9,000.00 American dollars back then if I remember correctly.

    Oh boy, I did quite a few more mods than that to my S10 haha! I love the differential swap idea! Never thought of using those parts for the rear end but I will now! I totally love your truck brother! Its clean as hell and tastefully done. Once that engine gives up the ghost, go ahead and put a little small block in there and you'll be quite happy trust me! I have a few different vehicles but my S10 is by far the most fun to drive!

    Got a G 80 in my 88 s10 Blazer and it definitely makes a difference with traction . Wish I had one in the GMC Sonoma . Like the LED headlight and the flow through muffler upgrade . I wouldn't over inflate the tires to 45 lbs though . You will get premature wear in the middle of the tire . Try upgrading the shocks . Makes a difference on the corners

    I love square body S-10 with that straight across dash. GM did offer a gauge cluster for 82-85 S-10 with a tach. Not many had it. The fuel gauge became the tack and the fasten seat belts was moved to the center display screen to make way for the fuel gauge. Nice truck.

    I have a 91 S10 with the 4.3 V6 2wd automatic that's my daily driver even in the snow I just put on studded rears and two 70# sand bags in the back and it never gets stuck, just take things slow. I've recently been putting some money into her and mods so this video was great. I daily drive a 88 S10 with the 2.5 EFI 4 cylinder and 5 speed. Factory 3:73 gear. My dad bought it brand new. I had it repainted bright red again and rebuilt the engine. Looks and runs like a brand new one. But the little 4 cylinder barely has 90hp lol. That’s all they had brand new ( and mine is basically new again although bored 40 over). I don’t think many people bother rebuilding the 2.5 engines but I wanted to keep truck all original.
    The only mod I have is a cherry bomb Glasspack on it. It’s not loud but has a nice deep mellow tone. No rasp or pop whatsoever. Still has a cat on it though. I wanted a KN air filter but apparently KN doesn’t make one anymore that fits factory air cleaner. The efi has little different breather than yours does

But you got a good one with lots of potential ! I say go for it and don’t stop fixing her up !
      Plus with gas prices right now these small trucks are going to get really popular and valuable I think. They will make a comeback

      It would be nice for fuel consumption, I had my 1988, S15 doing like 22-24 mpg. also in my opinion it would definitely be worth it if you wanted better response with Torque as well, My brother and I used to tow our 24 foot commercial fishing boat with ours and in 4 low it would pull it up the ramp too lol.

    • @iroquoispliskin6077
      @iroquoispliskin6077 Před 3 lety +1

      Swap to factory TBI maybe but if you started getting into custom fuel/intake setups I’d think about just building a V8. You can make better gas mileage because it doesn’t work hard until you need or want the extra power then it’s easy, reliable power, that would be unmatched by even a tuned V6.
