  • Join us for today’s Five Minute Histories video that features the Bagby Furniture Company Building in Harbor East! In the 1990s, it got a wonderful rehab that allows us to keep enjoying the nearly 120-year old building today.
This is our series called "Five Minute Histories." Twice a week, we’ll record a short video about a different historic place in Baltimore and post it on our Facebook page and website. For more information or to become a member of Baltimore Heritage, check out: baltimoreheritage.org/support/

Excellent video! My father did upholstery and repaired antiques in Baltimore. Definitely a dying craft.

I was working for L.H. Cranston as an electrician in 1997 or 1998 when we were awarded the contract to upgrade the main electrical system and all the electrical distribution throughout the building. I remember the large oak beams and flooring along with the original brick exterior walls. A magnificent building. I should get down there and see what she looks like 26 years later.

Well done! The analogy of pre-fabricated furniture and Ikea was great.

Could you please do an episode on Fox Mansion in Armistead Gardens? It’s a revolutionary era mansion that no one knows about. Also... the baurenshmidt mansion brewery at 2200 erdman Avenue .

Two other prominent industries were sailcloth and underwear, with loft buildings on the west edge of town.
