I'd say the landmine actually serves a practical use. You don't want to be falling and setting the thing off, so it gives you that extra incentive to try hard. Everyone knows people can push themselves harder when your life is on the line!

So, here it goes: First, most of these ads aren't made towards climbers. most of them take inspiration on whatever the collection were taught on. for exemple, the brand X made a collection inspired by the outdoors, hiking and climbing, camping, etc. it doesn't mean that everyone involved in it is a connoisseur in the subject or anything. also, there's a lot o budget restriction, models' safety (they are not athletes) and so on. about the Lous Vuitton's chalk bags, they are clearly not meant to be used as chalk bags, the same way a Supreme fire axe (or whatever it's called) aren't made to chop down trees or break into apartments on fire, nor the Supreme's branded bricks were made for building a house or whatever. on a side note, Virgil Abloh was one of the most influential creative directions of our generation (he died of cancer a couple years ago). we all know how weird fashion photography can be, but I'm just saying that because some people might actually take it seriously and think these products are in fact marketed towards climbers and outdoors people etc. also, the "land mine" was a tea cup and a small plate in a case, probably some fancy tea ware for the British outdoorsy lol. anyways, I hope I'm not being a pain in the ass with my comment hahaha cheers
Inspiration should still be based on the source material, don't you think? Some of these ads could have been more effective with simple changes. Like the underclings, those could have been something else to make the picture look more realistic.
