Can you try Ohuhu markers? There alcohol and I believe they have bullet nibs and chisel tips! You can find them on amazon btw I suggest just buying one package since you get random markers and may get the same...there also WAY cheaper than copic like insanely cheaper (thx kittens for correcting me XD I forgot it was bullet :3)

I own them and they work great for anyone wondering,they blend nicely and bleed through paper but it's normal for alcohol based markers :)

I work in the art department at my Hobby Lobby on our truck day, and I saw that we got the copic packs in and I actually almost had a heart attack when I was pricing them.
Heads up, it appears as of this year they’re clearancing things about every two months. It’s 75% off right off the bat. The last time they did this was in April. I live about 4 minutes from one. I’m so down with this. 😂

I agree because when I started making art I was doing digital. I did digital for about 1 year and never was able to understand it as easily as others I've seen. I was terrible and I just couldn't get it down. Then I saw a video on youtube and I decided to try out watercolor painting. I fell in love immeditately and I am no by means great at watercolor, but it works so much better for me. I understood it immeditately even though I had no experience with anything but digital. I never could understand why digital just didn't click with me.
I am from Houston Texas, I also find really good deals at Hobby Lobby, I have never owned a Coptic, I am new to art.
Picture the scene....I walk into my apartment weighed down by Hobby Lobby bags. My boyfriend just stares at all the bags with what seemed to be disbelief. The first words out of my mouth, "Rae made me do it!" Lol!!!! I found some amazing deals. Brushes, marker sets, Liquitex acrylic sets, a gallon of gesso, Strathmore watercolor paper and more. Nothing was over $10. Most of it was much less. Thanks for the heads up 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

The verithan prismacolor are a harder lead. They stay sharp better so they’re good for details.

We went to 4 hobby lobby stores in my area and spent 400$ ! We would have spent 1600$ at regular price. Those clearance prices were just too great to pass up! We got my granddaughter awesome stuff for Christmas and her birthday. I am an art supply hoarder also! Thanks for the peak at your studio, it is lovely! Enjoy !

There's an old saying...: "You get what you pay for". It's not quite as useful in todays scam-o-rama businesses, but there are some things where price does matter. One is Computer components, another is art supplies (pretty much all things 'art'), and one more to note is tires for your vehicle (yes, serious; had some 'regular' all-weathers...before my daughter was born we picked up some top of the line winter ones [cold and lots of snow where I live]; I swear to all the gods, it was like night and day!).
So...pay for quality. It's almost always worth it. :)

Starting RIGHT AFTER Creativation in I think February, A lot of the stores especially Hobby Lobby and Michaels start marking things down to get rid of them for the new stuff. Hobby Lobby does an annual mark down of things anyway. This year, they cut a lot of paper crafting stuff out and I noticed a HUGE amount of art supplies bit the dust. It's mostly due to product repackaging. Sometimes it is to get rid of stuff that wasn't moving. I got Prisma Color pencils, loads of paints, brushes, and tons of arty stuff at HL. I went multiple times because each week, it was a load of different stuff. I thought they were done and just went in to see if any new stuff come in and I saw that the Canson L'aquarell Heritage 100% cotton watercolor paper was 75% off. I grabbed the 2 that they had. Tomorrow I'm off and Im going to go to another HL to see if they have any of the WCpaper. Anyway keep this in mine for next year especially the 1st week of March, go to HL weekly for restock of supplies...lol BTW, I got some of those drawing sets too for my granddaughter who also draws. (Take the pastel set back..lol). Oh, and I love toned paper. I've been sketching with a soft pencil and highlighting with china markers, black & white on bee company's tan brown paper...lol BTW, I love those verithin, (very thin) pencils. They are great for details. No one is going to judge you for binge buying mark downs. Start in March next year!! lol

i realized that all the things in my hobby lobby were on sale too!!! I was so excited and i bought some winsor brush markers. I also have some spectrum AD markers and i LOVE THEM! I have them in the skin set, and the colors are a little dark, but i use them a lot. The brush marker is pretty great. Give them a go!! ilysm!!!!
US stores certainly know how to have a sale. They actually know the meaning of the word SALE. In the UK, we're lucky to get 10% off something. UK stores, take a leaf and give us proper sales!

My first prismacolor pencils were the verithin 12 pack. I got them because they came as a bonus in a pack of sharpies and only raised the price of the sharpie pack by like a dollar. ‘Twas great.

If you ever want copics, don't buy them from hobby lobby or Michaels. Try Blick, Jerry's Artarama, and other I can't think of. The markers get down to 6$, it has other cheaper supplies too. The shipping just takes about 2weeks.

I have the Royal Langnickel case set, my dad got it for me from Wal-Mart for my birthday a few years ago. I like it, don't use it much, but what I've used I've liked.

Ella Rolf the prices tend to work out better the larger the pack you go for, but I checked both amazon.uk and Amazon.com and they're still half the price that Rae found them at, so there are definitely better places to find them

The worst part about copics are the refills. I have about 58 copic markers and 39 refills...That's what I collected over several years (basically several birthdays, haha). The remaining 19 refills would cost about 160€ (~188$)... And of course it's always the cool colors that are empty, haha.

Open stock polychromos by Fabre caster should be less than $4 each... but yeah great price on the sketching pencils! Always use the 40-55% coupons stuff is marked up overpriced at stores like micheals and hobby lobby. But DO look in the clearance sections as there can be absolute treasures sometimes! Nice video can’t wait to see you use these supplies and give opinions and reviews.

Ahh, Copics....I never used to be a Copic snob...until I used them...sigh. I get a bit nauseous and dizzy whenever I think how much I've spent on them over the years...I currently have 328 of them (mostly sketch, a few ciao) because there is no reason to own ALL of the greys and some of the very, VERY light colors. As it is...it has taken me about 10 years to collect them all (and I'm not done...now I'm slowly collecting the refills, but that is only whenever one of my markers run dry)...and I never thought I was a patient person. lol

very thin. that's the pronunciation. lol. they rock. don't break as often and are perfect for fine details. I find myself forgetting to use the "fat" prismacolors in favor of these. good buy too.

I bought you some white charcoal pencils a couple of months ago from an upmarket art store, but I've delayed it until your PO box is updated. There's also a liquid pen for blending coloured pencils that looks interesting.

I wish we had such clearances on art supplies where I live. I almost always buy my (tons of totally unnecessary) art supplies at full price!
Also I'm really interested to hear what you have to say about the Goldfabers. As I understand it it's a middle ground between Faber Castell's school grade pencils and the Polychromos (You can tell by the color of the packaging: Red=School grade, Blue=Student grade, Green=Professional grade). I've been thinking about trying them out myself. Also, pretty sure they are wax-based, you can't have colored pencils without any kind of binding agent (unless they are pastel pencils, which they are not).
About the Verithins (or however you spell/pronounce them), they are pretty much a hard core version of their soft core pencils, used for really small details and stuff, which is why many people don't like them, cuz they use them on their own. They are meant to be used with the soft cores.
Also may I ask, which brand markers did you order? (The set of 72 you mentioned at the start of the video)
Woooohoooo!! Nice haul, Rae!! So tickled for you, honey! I whooped out loud at your “acrylic versus oil” discovery - exactly my story ever so many years ago now!!! lol It was like a cloud opened up and happy sunshine poured in. That R&L Sketch kit is an awesome set and well worth every penny. The Goldfaber are FC’s student/hobby grade of Polychromos. The Prismacolor Verithin are super hard lead for fine detailing as the softness of the regular pencils kind of limit that as a rule. I’m looking forward to seeing your experiment videos with all those goodies. Most of all I’m delighted to see your smiling face looking happier and healthier - I’m keeping you on my prayer list for a while yet. ❤️
