Art Studio Tidy Up Ep 2: Marker Pen Storage and Wall of Chaos Makeover!

- Ohhh I've been dreading this part; dealing with the Wall of Chaos! But today I've given it a makeover, and I also found some great storage solutions for all of my alcohol markers. Join me as I continue to tidy up, organize and declutter my art studio!
The marker boxes I found at TKMaxx are:

I paid $40 each for them, but they're quite a lot more expensive on Amazon?? Woo I scored a bargain!

I'm really loving your tidy up series. A tip I would add is with packaging that's lovely but you kind of know in your heart you'll never reuse - just take a photo of it. All you really want is to know you can look at it again and enjoy it, so then you can chuck the real item away and you still have the photo. (I guarantee you won't look at the photo again though! 🤣🤣). Anyway, yet another great job! The drawers look so much better!
Thank you, and that's a lovely idea! I also tend to cut bits of packaging up and stick them in junk journals (same with wrapping paper). I may rescue a bit off the Inkvent calendar box before I send everything to the recycling truck. 😊

Absolutely loved this make over session! It's so satisfying to watch! The bit's that you completed were stunning! You have to be one of the top artist youtubers with the most arty stuff I've ever seen!! :D You could literally fit all my arty stuff into a small suitcase, and that includes my tiny table top easel, but I loved this video and can't wait for more! :D
Haha thank you! My studio is ridiculous really - it used to be for photography and has morphed completely into art. When I get obsessed with something, I go all in, apparently! 😂

Nice job! Tidying small areas is so much easier than trying to work on the whole room. That usually stresses me out. It is a great feeling to get rid of things you've been hanging on to for so long. 😅

I’m following along with this series now, I think you are already making a huge difference! Your drawer units are all so cute😭 my favorite has to be the marker drawers. I definitely think the scrapbook paper helped everything look less cluttered as well. “Ahh what a drag”, exactly how I feel whenever I do tidying or tedious cleaning😂 it always ends up being worth it though!

@@BeckyTregear and the best thing is that since it was so inexpensive and easy to do, if you get tired of the butterflies' theme, you just need to change the paper! And is like brand new drawers everytime!!! I REALLY LIKED THAT SIMPLE YET SOOOO EFFECTIVE IDEA! Oh the possibilities! 😅

The "wall of butterflies" looks gorgeous, I think the pink boxes now look "summerly" (is that even a word?). I might steal your idea 🙂 Are you sure your not a cat disguised as a human? I mean your love for boxes hints to that. I might be one, too. Like you I managed to put a few boxes into the recycling bin but it was with a heavy heart 🤣 Have a nice weekend 🥰
Haha thank you! And yes feel free to use the idea; I'm not sure if it's an original thought or if I saw this elsewhere and my subconscious remembered it, lol. I think I've had cats for so long that I've picked up some of their traits, like a love a boxes. 😸
How many new video projects did you find in there, when you found things you forgot about? It's amazing what a little clean up can do. I organised my paintbrushes yesterday, specifically because I bought a few new ones, only to find I didn't need any as I had really nice brand new ones still in the drawer 😂 Oh well, I guess I can now shop from my own Studio as there is so many lost hidden gems.
Haha there are heaps of potential videos coming out of this sorting session after I keep finding things I'd forgotten I had. I can relate to the brushes situation too! 😂
I can’t believe how much the paper strips improved the appearance of the drawers!! Fabulous idea!!
I can relate to keeping “good” boxes (like the advent calendar) for too long; I recently put several items like that in our recycle box…it was hard to do 😅.
I was also quite surprised at how effective such a simple solution was! Yay, something worked that didn't cost a lot of money. 😂 I struggle to throw out boxes so much, but there is something quite satisfying about purging them every now and then, to start afresh with a new collection of them, lol.

1 crafty hoarders trash is another crafty hoarders treasures...
I haven't actually thrown them in the outside recycle bin yet, and I may well end up donating some of the empty boxes once I have accrued a bunch of them. It's a shame to throw them out when they can be so handy!

It's so hard to let them go! They're nice, solid boxes which I'm sure I'll find a use for as soon as they get picked up by the recycle truck. 😂
What great progress! Since your last video, I was inspired to start tackling some of my own clutter. It's slow going, but it feels really good. I love those new drawers for your markers! What a great find. I prefer being able to see my stuff, so clear drawers are my jam, but I can see how it could get overwhelming with all of those shallow drawers. The butterflies look great.
That's great that you've managed to do some decluttering; it is horrible having to do it, but the end result is such a great feeling haha! I couldn't see much looking into the shallow drawers anyway so they are better covered. I like being able to see the markers though in those clear boxes. 😊
Those units worked great for the markers. It's looking really good Becky. I love watching other people creating and tidying their art studios, they give me so many ideas and inspiration to get up and do something in my space 😄
They were a lucky find and I'm glad I bought two because these things never last in a store like TKMaxx. 😂

I have a few less things than I actually need now which saves on storage but it does mean I am running short now due to not buying anything at all for a while. I use the 50L tubs to store my artworks and a folio for working sketchbooks. Was a doctor's bag I was going to use but it quickly filled up.
It's amazing how quickly we grow out of storage solutions and have to go for bigger ones. I used to have one desk with a set of drawers on it, and now many years later I am in this ridiculous mess. 😂
lol...i do the same, instead of visual mess, it's hidden mess...don't worry, your totally normal

Excellent job (repurposing)! I store my watercolor paint tubes in a similar multi-box. I am looking forward to watching your video using Gel plates. What project(s) do you have in mind?
Thank you! I keep seeing gel plate reels on Instagram, often featuring leaves and other found objects to make prints from. Looks like messy fun!
Lovely cardstock. Where did you purchase them from? I am currently on the hunt for some ballerina themed cardstock (in Australia.)
I bought them at Kaisercraft; there's a big store near me that has fairly regular 50% off weekends, and a sale just happened to be timed around when I was planning to do this makeover, haha! I have a feeling this particular pattern may have been in their discontinued range though....I can't remember exactly.
