Andrew Bird plays "Spare-Ohs" in Montmartre, Paris, France

"We've seen bands excite young girls, leave onlookers indifferent, embarrass concierges, and rile up crowds. Andrew Bird put the city on pause. His timidity and lightness didn't make us wait long. It just took a few slides on the violin for him to latch onto the décor, redesign the contours of the space, change time, and sweep into another atmosphere..."

Cant believe this video is still up, I remember watching this in 2012 when I was in middle school, it's one of the first songs that made me want to play guitar. I remember my dad has an epiphone that looked really similar to the one he's using. To this day I still play guitar!

Love this video and the whole la blogotheque project. Andrew Bird is great. Yes I would follow him and clap and gawk if I saw him walking around my town but not everybody knows this guy. There are plenty of talented street performers out there who aren't given the time of day and here Andrew Bird is no different. I think that kind of atmosphere, the one with no screaming fans, is what la blogo is going for.

C'mon folks! This wasn't an MTV video recording! Andrew Bird does his art in life, not all cleaned up; refined and integrated. The honk was just life; "who the hell are you in my way?!"
And like the consummate artist that he is, Andrew Bird took it in stride.
Akin to Miles Davis just integrating what is happening now in a jam session_ reality is inspiration!
Take it easy on yourself here.

Have you ever noticed whistle stealers are everywhere? If you whistle in any crowd at any time, someone else will compulsively start whistling. Thing is tho- where you may be whistling a song or tune, they will whistle pure atonal gibberish, just to be whistling, thereby stealing and ruining your whistle. Here's the rub. If you stop... they too will stop. If you start again... they too will start again. It's a real thing. I'm not making this up. I whistle often and when people start whistle stealing I call their lame asses out.
