Another Shot is a contemporary romantic novella based on the classic story of Ruth and Boaz.
My name is Rae, and this is my story. Regretfully, it begins on a sad note. Everything was taken from me when my husband died in a tragic car accident. The only person on Earth who could have possibly been hurting more than me was my beloved mother-in-law, Laura, who lost her husband and only sons in the same accident.
Laura was forced to leave Arizona and return to New York, and I decided to go with her. I packed my things with no prospects or expectations; all I had was the undeniable urge to remain with her. As a result of becoming a widow at twenty-three, I was in a surreal frame of mind, and making a new start with my mother-in-law seemed like the only logical decision.
Less than two weeks after the accident we were on our way to New York. I trusted we'd make it somehow, but never imagined someone greater than us already had a plan in place-a plan as romantic as a fairy-tale.

I enjoyed this story more than I can say. I love the sense of family loyalty and so much love. I'm part Italian and I known they can be very quirky and wonderful people full of love, which you conveyed beautifully. Kate Rudd is a top notch narrator. She drew me into the story with the wonderful accents that weren't over done. I wish this story wouldn't end. Thank you for sharing this with us. I also love that it is a clean story without all of the unnecessary explicit sex.

I love this version of the Ruth and Naomi story! I was part-way though the story when I realized that I'd listened to it on Audible. But the second time was just as magical as the first!
Kate Rudd does an incredible job narrating and her NY-Italian accent sure sounds authentic to my mid-western ears. Her male voices are nice and deep and sound like men. Her female voices are also spot on.

I enjoyed this series so much and i loved the fact that they are clean books, like the intentions are clean as well, one thing that i didn't like about dream chaser is that we didn't get many chapters of Jasper's point of view

THATS an Awesome idea! In fact there’s so many Biblical love stories to turn to the modern times! It’s such a fresh, new & ingenuous way to introduce Biblical values for today’s times! I dare say it may be an anointed moment for this bright and intuitive authoress! I’m going through all her novels & imo she’s amazing! Hee work is not only interesting & engaging but it grips me deeply! I can hardly stop! It’s been awhile since I’ve been this excited about my favorite activity! I’m thankful for the audibles however, bc as I have lost most of my sight, I was sorely aggrieved! I’m 60 & have been an avid reader since childhood! You can’t imagine the devastation I felt when I began to lose my sight! I reconciled myself to listening way back in the late 90’s. It’s far much more improved now & with good material that I actually like, it’s miraculous! I hope all the best for this young authoress! So many questions/trails to get lost in. Why the shady loan? What happened to their house savings? Closed casket as in possible faked death? Mobster inferences? The other DIL? Nice to imagine a family with bonds & responsibilities this strong tho. Thanks for sharing.
It wasn't a shady loan; it just wasn't a bank loan. The dad & 2 sons were hiding the downturn in their financial situation from their wives because they didn't want to worry them - they were sure they'd be able to turn things around. And it sounds like they probably would have if they hadn't died. The other stuff was just Rae's idle speculation about her husband's Italian family and mafia stereotypes. I suppose one COULD read more into it, but I just thought it was amusing. 😊
My experience as a direct descendant of the very beginnings of our great country on both sides of family…Married into a very nice Italian family, but totally, privately not my family’s desire. Hardest thing my father , a Protestant, 32nd* Mason from 29yrs and walking me the aisle of the Catholic Church. Our picture was in the Sunday-paper so all of Daddy’s friends “never thought I’d-see the day….Then life start in Narragansett RI, my husband was drafted @ College Graduation immediately & w/ Engineering degree chose the Seabees. We married between tours of VietNam & he had exp’d TET , 6mos & shp’d back knowing what faced them…meanwhile in RI I visited Cemeteries & located ancestors hd-stones doing charcoals of my history. RI is indicative of IT population so I too learned..always mob jokes & slur names to my surprise, but didn’t feel applied to me…Finally, discharged we landed in ROC NY where I’d graduated & I wk’d in East ROC, all IT pop! Due to Piano Factory & Crosman Bros Seed Corp, my new last name translated to many as “Dandelion “ unique & loved…mention of Mafia or Mob brought such disdain…that was only considered Sicily born & not the “boot regions”.
These were & are the most generous peoples, always a helping hand, food offerings at a mere visit a joy to be entertaining always. Everyone is family.
