A “game” of throat-singing begins with two women facing each other, standing close and sometimes holding each other’s arms. One begins to sing, while the other follows. The game can last up to a few minutes, and ends when one loses her breath, laughs, or breaks concentration in any way. Some sources, such as Pulaarvik Kablu Friendership Centre, cite that it was once practiced with their lips practically touching, the women using their opponent’s mouth cavity as a sound resonator.

@@Ker-mk3bf No, you did not. Throat Singing: A Traditional Part of Inuit Culture
Hums, gasps, grunts and growls delight audiences privileged to witness this ancient art up close and in person. In fact, it’s one of the world's oldest forms of art, and was almost lost, as Canada’s Inuit people were forced over the last century to assimilate, often punished for speaking their own language or practicing their culture.
      Present-day Throat Singing
Today, artists like Nunavut duo Tudjaat and singer Tanya Tagaq are keeping the Inuit traditions alive, sometimes fusing Inuit throat singing with different styles and other genres, like pop music.
Tagaq is incredibly unique, as she not only performs throat singing solo, but has exposed Inuit throat singing to the mainstream.
Throat singing is still practiced in many Inuit communities, particularly in Greenland and the Canadian Arctic. Throat singing is also practiced in Russia, Africa and likely Alaska. Camilla and Charles behaviour is appalling. To have someone preform throat singing for you is an honour. Both are to dense to understand that, although I suspect that Charles has seen it before. Inuit throat singing, or katajjaq (Inuktitut syllabics: ᑲᑕᔾᔭᖅ), is a distinct type of throat singing uniquely found among the Inuit. Sang in this way, as a duet, it was a type of contest to see which singer could outlast the other. However, Inuit women across the Arctic also used throat singing to soothe fussy babies who were tucked close enough in the hoods of those amautis to feel the vibration of their mother's throat. A little more education for you. You're welcome.

I found all but the king and Camilla laughing at the First Nations very sacred performance. It was very RUDE of Camilla and Charles. I’m totally disgusted in them for this.

“Inuit throat singing is a friendly competition between girls, something they would do while the men were out hunting, It’s part of Inuit culture. It’s an oral tradition, it’s something that can’t be written down, it has to be learned from someone else,.”
It's not a very sacred performance. It's a goddamn game. LOOK IT UP!!

I could tell Charles tried harder to hold in his laughter but Camilla laughed like she barely tried to hold it in. If that was her hardest then she needs to work on controlling it because its utterly disrespectful to be laughing at other peoples traditions and customs... ESPECIALLY if those two geriatrics want to call themselves the King and Queen of Canada as well they better respect the natives of that land! I don't see the natives laughing at the royalʻs outrageous teeth, or leathery-looking face, or silly accent, or lack of physical strength, etc.

That's one way to open your mouth and shove your foot in. If you had bothered to look up throat singing instead of making a fool of yourself, you would know that the entire purpose of it was to make the other person laugh. That's the entire thing. It's an activity that the women carry out while they wait for their husbands to return from the hunt. There is absolutely no reason for you to be this ignorant when you have the Internet available to you 24/7. Even worse you insulted everybody you possibly could have. Are you proud of yourself?

Gee I get the Distinct feeling you don't like the Royals😒 I get the feeling you're from Canada by the way you referenced King Charles and Queen Camilla as the King and Queen of Canada. The King and Queen laughed NOT out of disrespect but because as another person referenced the Sounds either reminded them of something in their past or the sounds made were just different. The King and Queen can't catch a break. If they don't smile or laugh they are accused of being Wooden and having No emotion. They laugh or smile and they are considered rude and insensitive. Give His Majesty and his Queen a Break and let them be themselves with their Emotions! And for the Record I'm an American.

They were laughing because it was a competition between the two women to see which one would laugh first. Of course the two women have had lots of practise not laughing because if you laugh you lose. One would think if you are actually familiar with the Canadian Inuit you would know this, so pretty much everything the original poster put was a lie.@@malcolmcossar6447
