      By the way, knowing that you do not like vinegar, is there going to be a big difference if I was to add at least one cup of vinegar? Also, will I get the salty flavor with 1 teaspoon of pickling salt per 1 cup of water rather than 1 tablespoon of salt?

    Hi Lady, I have a question. Can you still ferment cucumbers if you skin them and de-seed them? Or will the beneficial bacteria not grow?

    • @ladyleeshome
      @ladyleeshome  Před rokem +1

      You can, they are just going to get soft really fast. So I'd say, let the fermentation process be done, store in the fridge immediately, and eat within a couple of weeks.

    A good dill is hard to find most recipes taste like bread and butter. I find its the addition of sugar in the brine that ruins the flavor... but lacto fermenting is so easy 2-3% salt by wight of water and vegetable.

    Are these Israeli pickles or Jewish pickles? The reason I ask is that it seems you're claiming this process originated in Israel, which became a nation in 1948. But Jews have been making these pickles for a thousand years. Why did you choose "Israeli" pickles instead of the more accurate "Jewish" pickles?

    • @ladyleeshome
      @ladyleeshome  Před měsícem

      Urrrmmm... I learned how to make them in Israel. I am from Israel, we eat those in Israel. I was born in 82. Not sure what kind of pickles Jewish people ate 4000 years ago. I know what I ate growing up... in Israel.
      Also, Israeli pickles sounds better and Google likes it more. Also, I really don't see a need to further complicate just about anything. If it makes you happier, go ahead and call them Jewish pickles, I don't think anyone will mind. Thanks for watching!

    • @michaeltellurian825
      @michaeltellurian825 Před měsícem +2

      @@ladyleeshome Yeah, I grew up in Canada and learned how to make fermented pickles from my grandmother. I don't call them Canadian pickles. My wife makes them too and she's from the US. She doesn't call them American pickles. In fact, other than you, I've never heard anyone refer to their fermented pickles based on their nationality. I just find it odd. But if you want to call them Israeli pickles you go right ahead.

      Whatever you believe is your belief. I'm guessing that whatever I say you probably aren't going to change your mind about the situation.
      So I'll just say this... Israel isn't going anywhere. Therefore, it will be better for everyone to get used to it and move forward.
      Now... Do you want to move forward in war or in peace? That's the only question.
      If THEY choose war, we go to war, and we win, every time, and we always will.
      If they choose peace, we live in peace, just as we do with the Muslims who live INSIDE Israel, as we do with Jordan, Egypt and others.
      The question is what do we do from here...
      Anyway, thanks for stopping by! I appreciate you taking the time to watch and I hope you'd give this recipe a try!

      I replied from my phone but I don't see it posted so I'l reply again. I'm on my computer so I can't type in Hebrew. If you need Hebrew just let me know. You can't use water that have chlorine in it. If your water comes from the city, it is probably treated with chlorine. It messes with the bacterial process. You better get chlorine-free store-bought water.
