- A morning on the rigid was very challenging for me as if not driven one regularly for a long time. Swap back to mine and the day doesn’t get any better however where there is a problem there is also a solution ☺️

Hello from Australia Jemma!, great video as usual, two comments, you have almost got the sound levels perfect, in the past your have had louder sections between quieter ones, the second is your scratch. I am recovering from sepsis and didn't pay enough attention to keeping small wounds clean, Mine was from a needle scratch when having treatment in a hospital though! FYI sepsis in Australia kills about 8000 people a year, more than the national road toll, more than breast, prostrate and colo-rectal cancers combined. I am retired but worked as a builder you rarely cleaned wounds or scratches but now realise that was foolish, stay well and thank you for the informative videos. Ed

Thanks for the update Jemma. I passed my Class 1 at 21 and never drove a rigid ever. That was a result getting tipped makes the next day a lot better and a quiet Monday night thanks again.

thanks for another greta video, and thre explanation on the Anderson cable and its use. explains why we always ask sites if they have coupled to the anderson to lower a double deck trailer, flat battery is a common cause of these not working, brilliant

I’m sorry but I laughed so much at the look on your face pulling out the gate in the rigid. I for one can’t stand moving in and out of trucks and feel all out of sorts when separated from my truck. She is a Western Star set up for logging here in Upstate New York but I am originally from Ireland and drove for a few years on the Continent out of Ireland in the early 2000’s .Love your videos and how you show us the little tricks of the trade. Thank you for taking the time to make them.

the amount of drivers you see that dont clean the backs off is unbelivable well done jemma as a harley rider those stones hurt
Now having got used to them again, I quite like getting sent out on the rigid, but first time out after many years of only driving artics, I got in a right muddle, turning too late, reversing all over the place.
Nice short video, actually had time to watch it, still trying to catch up with the earlier ones.

Be aware Oil /Hyd Oil leaking onto the Tyres can cause loss of Traction and spin /Jack knife the truck.
Had a rigid spin round on a bend due to diesel leaking over the load bed and down onto the tyres

I never realised how complicated truck driving is nowadays. Procedures, Apps etc. I don't think I would remember half of this. I guess it's like everything else, you learn by doing. 👍

I remember many years ago, jumping out of my artic and into a rigid, misjudging the first corner I came too, having to reverse back into a main road. I can sympathize.

Hi Jemma, health and safety issue for you. This is something that I have raised with some of the gents especially working on building sites. One of my neighbours needed eight stitches in his leg from just brushing past a sharp tile. Had he been wearing trousers it would have been a lot less. Shortly afterwards talked to a guy in the chemist with a large leg wound looking for a dressing. Same thing wearing shorts and not enough protection. You really should be protecting your legs from accidents in future. Yes as a shop steward in an engineering company you also needed to be involved in safety.

Jemma I love you videos, yes rigids are not much fun, I preferred artics to. Love seeing you drive down those country lanes if fast forward like yer a woman on a mission. Anyway, would love longer videos I mean you don't need chat all the time just cam what you doing where you can, and of course seeing you is nice to pretty lady, oh I found your most used word, hopefully, loll
Big respect for jumping into the rigid and mastering the reversing. It’s a lot harder than it looks after spending most of the time driving and reversing artics. I used to struggle reversing the tractor unit only and could make a right pigs 🐷 ear of it quite embarrassing 😂 yet stick a 40ft trailer on the back no problem.
That hydraulic pipe splitting was a problem especially the mess that fluid makes, did you manage to wash it down or did it eventually dry?

Today's top tip. Don't Jack the trailer from the trailer legs .. leave a gap to drop it.
It's interesting you didn't like the rigid truck and it was a bit hard for you to drive the DAF. I thought it's always easier to drive a rigid than an articulated truck. The unloading was indeed a challenge but the telehandler was very useful there. The other thing I find pretty interesting is that you always replace the license plate on your trailer with your Scania's plate. Do you know why quarries in the UK doesn't allow filming in their yards? I assume because of safety reasons. The broken hydraulic pipe was bad, but you were lucky the mechanic could fix it quickly. Another high quality vlog Jemma, it's great we can follow your adventures every week.
I don’t understand why anybody would put broken glass in a bin liner. But anyway lessons have been learned.
